And since the participants was once an idol, participants like Yang Jiwon (girl) and Donghyun, Feeldog, etc got more spotlight to the audience and they alrd have their own huge fanbase before joining The Unit as they have been in the industry longer than the others. In terms of A.C.E this was in 2017, A.C.E was not even famous in Korea/Internationally and they were Rookie. Definitely should watch the next ranking episode hahaha

2020-11-30 10:03:18 +0000 UTCHonestly when it comes to the participants/trainees voting I feel like it's very biased. I also think Team Black (Jun's team) was best when it came to stage presence and cohesiveness. In the trainees heads though, they were already set on Team Red winning and being amazing that I think they just kind of had a hyped up ideal of them in their minds and voted for them. Team Black didn't have too many trainees that the others regarded highly so that's probably why they were overlooked as well. Not to say that the other trainees are like rude or doing it on purpose or whatever I just think it was a subconscious thing. Also, Taemin will eventually stop being in these episodes because around the time that The Unit was airing was unfortunately when Jonghyun (his fellow SHINee member) passed away so he took a break from all activities understandably so.

Its in english so no need for subtitles. I think the interim evaluation is on the week they learn the dance so they can proceed to edit or finalize the choreo. Its different for each group tbh, for CLC, they're given everything in rush like these days they literally do everything in that list in less than 2 months before comeback date, unlike other companies or other artists that spent like half a year or even more ahead planning etc. so the choreo interim eval varies. sorn also touched about creative freedom, the industry, standards, music show win etc. on this livestream and she spoke in 3 languages lmao she's cute and amazing 47:15 mark https://youtu.be/y0Rau6SssxE

2020-11-27 16:26:50 +0000 UTCthat’s a lot to do in 3 days 😣 i don’t get that. sure it’s a survival show but wooow. it’s truly setting people up to fail rather than seeing peoples full potential. they’ll miss out on amazing talent that could flourish when given a better timeframe :/ even with Blackpink, they had monthly evaluations for an actual group to debut. 3 days with 2 songs? that’s just ... smh 🤦🏻♂️

2020-11-27 16:11:43 +0000 UTCTaemin and Hyuna were only special mentors and will only be seen shortly for the next episodes and as the show progresses, they won’t be seen anymore. As I watch this again, this brings back a lot of memories because you’re watching it almost at the exact same months they were released back then and a lot happened. The Unit helped me go through something and eventually the winning group. For me as a shawol and a unme (if you know what unme is you know lol) The Unit was a bittersweet experience. But I’m thankful for it nonetheless.

2020-11-27 16:02:55 +0000 UTCThe interim evaluation in this show tends to happen halfway, and likely to be sudden lmao. So it was around after 1.5 days for this 3 day mission. The full uncut version of each team's performance were uploaded on Naver and Vlive after broadcast. So every episode we will get unaired fullcam version of performance for each team and fancam version for each member. 2020-11-27 15:40:57 +0000 UTCBtw they had 3 days for this, but they actually did 2 songs. This main song and 2 others...so it is more than what usually gets done in these shows I think. The girls had a separate song, and the guys had another one. They made everyone sing; because the portion that they tested contained no rap if I recall. The full song also has little or no rap...that's why >_<. Umm rather than a rap theres a portion with some talky rap bits? barely. Lee Bolim, the tall girl who'd never danced before, was actually a model so I don't think she really had much training prior to the unit. They kinda skipped the practice portion for groups who didn't encounter any difficulties or drama. For the boys team white (with Onewe), the others were all quite seasoned but I think the difference was all of them were low Boot contestants and they adopted a very patient attitude with the band guys who needed more help. Which was so nice! I think Jun may have twisted his ankle also due to being tired. Think he was filming a drama during that time. I've twisted my ankle like that before. If you've done it once, the ankle kinda becomes a bit "loose" and it happens again quite easily. The music video...I think even back then the costume felt a bit dated tho...wish they went for something a bit more modern. But I guess they were emulating produce 101 and their school uniform look (except these guys are experienced idols and most are older so sch uniforms feel weird haha).

So the public only could see their auditions before voting, that's also why the most popular members were chosen - no one saw the potential of others yet. Maybe something will change after this episode, I don't remember how voting went ;) I only remember the final one haha

He is still a part of his original group MyName but their last album was a Japanese album in 2018 and I don't think they've had a Korean comeback since the Unit. He also had a Japanese solo album last year and apparently he was in a musical as well. I haven't seen anything from this year. The rankings at the end are largely based on popularity not the performances at this point in the competition because so many of the idols were already well known and had fanbases. It'll take time for public votes to shift toward being a bit more based on the performance but be aware that the popularity bias is gonna stay. Happens in every show but is particularly obvious here because some contestants were more famous than others.

But also I now have these thoughts about how most of them had different type of training. Before I was paying more attention to how they improve their vocals and learn from each other, now I apply it to dancing too. And because of this "lessons" between participants I love the unit the most.
