Here's a walkthrough of the first proof of No North Book 1 - The Northless Compass!
It was very exciting to get it in the mail!
The size of the book is deliciously perfect! The cover colors look so amazing, and I love the offset texture of the paper (and the paper's thickness!)
It's a BIG book! And you can feel the weight, which is soooo cool!
However, some of the colors still appear washed out, and the interaction between blue/black is far from ideal. So it's back to the drawing board, in a way!
I'm sorry this is taking too long. It's a long and delicate process that requires numerous adjustments and back-and-forths, especially when working with a new printing and fulfillment method. It's all new territory for your old Skailla here!
I hope you're all doing amazing, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on the book so far! Thank you all SOOOO MUCH for your incredible support!!!!

I am so indescribably happy, this looks more amazing than i could have EVER IMAGINED. And to think that I can be along for this wonderful journey and help make it possible is more than the biggest honor ever!!!! It. Looks. Absolutely breathtaking, ohh my GOSH!! I cannot wait for these to make their place in my home!!! It looks INCREDIBLE, exceeding my wildest expectations in every single way!!!! YOU DID THE MOST AMAZING JOB EVER!!! And I can’t imagine how hard the process must be, especially to learn the ropes of bringing an almost fully digital story to physical page and trying to work with a company to make it happen just how you want it to. But never worry, your work is more than enough, always take as much time as you need!!! Don’t make any decisions if it goes against the way you feel you want it to, after all, it’s your story!! And one of the best to ever be!! You’re doing such an amazing job!

2025-08-21 02:17:08 +0000 UTCOH MY GOODNESS OH MY GOODNESS!!! AAA THIS IS SO EXCITING TO SEE!!!! Oh I have so much I want to say!! Seeing the physical copy of this book is just BEYOND exciting!! No North is just that much closer to being a physical book on my shelf!!!! And it looks AMAZING!!! The pages still look very vibrant and the characters look awesome!! I love the inclusion of the bonus "scene drawings" between the different scenes of the comic, and the one at the very end of the book. They're so pretty!! And fit the vibe so well!! I love the sneak peak at the bonus content as well!! For the character chart, I love seeing how the different characters look in their drawings! The nobles have pretty, painted portraits, and the outlaws are on wanted posters. It's perfect!!! And makes each character feel much more unique! And I LOVEE the inclusion of "The Making of No North" in the back!! It's such a nice idea that I lot of people (including me!!) will absolutely LOVE!! And seeing my name on the back of the book was such a surreal feeling!! It feels INCREDIBLE to be a part of the journey of No North!! 😭🫶 It's a shame that some of the colors aren't quite perfect yet. Fingers crossed it'll be an easy and quick fix!! 🤞🤞 I know no matter what it'll be worth it, and it will look AMAZING!! Keep up the AWESOME work Skailla!!! This is such an exciting chapter for you, and I'm so honored to be able to support you every step of the way!! Your work is INCREDIBLE and I can't wait to have this book on my shelf!! 💖
