I started by finishing up a background that was still at the sketch stage: the movie theater. Shots with symmetry like this are usually quicker to complete since you can copy and paste a lot of elements, even during the coloring process. So it was a nice warm-up. Then, it was time to dive back into the game engine! There are now some elements to clik on in the Squirrel classroom. You’ll notice Vaabs great work on the poster is now in game (Screenshot 1). Not everything is finished yet, for example, we’d like to have some graphic storytelling through the drawing board throught a close up. That’s going to be a big piece, and I didn’t have time to work on it this week. Next, I worked on the interactions after Lola recess scene. Depending on your choice, she’ll either be on the swing or near the sandbox. These interactions are a bit tricky, since the character’s presence or not depends on variables. That can mess with the screens, so there are always little bugs to fix (Screenshot 2). I also revisited the potty interactions with the teachers (Screenshot 3). It turns out the potty scene changes if June stayed with Lola in the morning. Lola becomes very curious about the “big girl” potty and wants to watch June go! For now, I’ve finished the scenes with Cosset and Sharpe (Screenshot 4). And that’s all for today! Next week, I’ll be working more on the game, but most likely focusing on graphic assets.
