Another update preview with fixes (and a few new features)

UPD: New build preview92 is here: fixed sky with low-quality mirrors, fixed issue with digits drawn over things with reordered rendering, fixed issue with smoke not showing if soft particles are disabled.

Thank you so much for testing! Maybe this time I’ll be able to release a public update which wouldn’t require that much fixing. 😅

Here is a new build with, hopefully, most of the reported bugs fixed. Also, I changed default FSR quality preset to better reflect presets from 0.1.75 and added a new custom quality one (I think presets from official SDK guide a bit too low-res for Assetto Corsa). And there are a few new features that might be interesting too.

First, a bit of an update to Python apps. Now CSP allows to reload an app live, so you can edit it without restating AC. A bit of an experimental stuff, might not always work that well, but I tested it with apps I have installed and it seems to run well. Also, Python apps now can access virtual mirror texture, so it can be used to create a custom look for rear view mirror or add rear view mirror to VR. And they can also create custom render targets and render things in there, and then use those render targets as textures, optionally with custom shaders for some advanced effects. Might be helpful for creating a more complex UI.

Also, scriptable displays for cars are updated with some new APIs. They too can access mirror texture now, allowing to create custom mirrors with overlays. Plus, they can react to user clicking on certain bits of certain meshes, as well as simulate certain user inputs like setting ABS level, and with that you can create something like this. And it’s possible now to create custom cameras with optional postprocessing, activating in some cases, and with that something like this can be done. All documentation is coming very soon.

There are some other changes, here is an updated changelog (comparing to 0.1.75, not to the previous build). Please give it a test, and if everything is fine, hopefully I’ll be able to release a next public update tomorrow. Thank you very much for all the support and testing!

Problem with smoke in VR. Hi must disable, in some track is too much, and too much 3d effect, its like enter into the car. in other track like dirt rally track the smoke is very hight that the car in front of you are impossible to see. problem in VR I must disable it, I tried to edit all parametre in smoke tab csp, tell me if there is another solution for reduce quantity (not quality) this smoke

I drift in 3rd person sometimes and with new patch it impossible to see anything behind the car anymore, anybody knows how to reduce smoke .

Hey peeps, does anyone know a temp fix for smoke in this version? All new settings don't work, it's not long lasting and the only smoke trails are blasting straight up, vertical and then no trail of smoke? X4fab, do you have any insight of what the issue is? what I'm doing wrong maybe? In saying that everything is maxed out, but does Zeroing a limiter turn it off of just limits to zero? Way too much smoke when drifting, i cant see in 3rd person

super greatjob ! as always, i noticed a little problem tho with the smoke (from tyres when you drift) the smoke is very dense and in a block kinda once the full smoke generation is triggered, i tried a lot of settings, extra heating, smoke generation from asseto (but doesn't affect when new smoke and dust are active) would be a nice an option to change the "scale" i think or something to make it less dense, cause even with minimum settings is still super dense and too much

I have a problem with the water particles on the asphalt they are all greige it seems that smoke is coming out of the car how can I do to remove this nasty effect? Thanks for your help

Hi. You activated it in CM-Settings-CSP-RainFx? If yes then in game go to your right (apps) and select weather fx and check weather debug. Enjoy the rain!

И кстати, было бы немлохо ввести в игру и отрицательную температуру и одновременно с этим доработать зиму (можно это обозвать как SnowFX). Впрочем, это уже мечты, хех. Желаю удачи с этим большим проектом для AC!

So, i turned on rain weather, track set to OPTIMUM (not set by weather) so grip should be 100%, but my car have massive wheel spin. How can i fix that?

I know this is probably one of many, many requests, but I'd love it if one day you could find time to add cruise control to CSP Ilja. There's so many great cruising circuits now like LA Canyons, Glen Shiel, Mulholland etc etc etc., it can actually take a fair bit of time to drive them normally and it'd be nice to have the ability to just stick the car on cruise and enjoy the scenery whilst listening to some music.

We got day/night cycle, we got awesome sol weather, we got rain FX, we got Nords......but the only servers i can find have time set to 13:00 Clear......this is the game at its ugliest yet people continue to put up servers like this?!!??....there was ONE server AB00 Rocket time....then they added the ugly as hell virtual mirror forced, so smart mirrors are knocked out and we get ugly pixel box forced on us.....and now they stopped the day night cycle and switched to 13:00 Clear.....so there is just no Multiplayer outlet....i have tried making my own server but noone ever joins, maybe i messed up port forwarding i dunno but it don't work for me, so there is no game now.....i fire up CM and can't find a trackday nords that looks good, they're all the same time and weather.....it just makes assetto look vanilla and nasty, what is the matter with them?

Hello! Dude i have a really important question, after CSP Ver 1.74, whenever i play in VR the camera spawns in the sky in most tracks, the only way to fix it is going to video settings and enabling post processing effects, but that affects my VR performance a lot! So as much as i would like to use new game modes and RainFX, sometimes i just want VR gameplay to be smooth again so i have to go and downgrade to version 1.73 where this didnt happen. Any idea if this can be fixed in the new updates? Does processing effects needs to be activated for new stuff to work in VR?

I'm running a Reverb G2 vr headset. I would love to use Fidelity FX super resolution but for some reason it results in a lot more jagged edges compared to just lowering the rendering resolution. Some people seem to love it so I'm guessing I have some conflict with other settings. Any ideas?

Hi! Preview92 is the first one I ever tried and I compare it to 1.75. With preview92 my rear view mirror is completely black, side mirrors still working. I tried switching SmartMirror on and off, but doesn't really change the outcome.

Hi, thank you for your hard work. Don't know if it's me, the last time real mirrors worked for me is at 1.74. If I now adjust my onboard settings, the mirrors don't adjust to new head position, after a restart. I use a fov of 32. And like Kevin said, I don't see flames with "new flames" enabled.

For me everything ok..Only one time I had an issue with the planner, totally messed up time/light. I have just created an amazing mod (Skyline Super Silhouette) wich uses lots of parcticles, and..It's crazy! Realistic flames and smoke from a rich afr.

Is that normal that after upgrading to the 0.1.76.prw92 the display inside the Ferrari 488 GT3 shows a picture greyed out? It seems like to have a 50% of grey level on top of the color picture (rear view).

try adjusting the near clip plane values in CSP/Graphic Adjustments ....alter the Near plane or FOV value, lower values will prevent clipping

I have an issue with the latest previews. In VR everything close to head doesn't render so as I move closer to the steering wheel for example, it disappears. This bug stops when I revert back to 0.1.75

When driving the AVR500-R2021 with a continuous wiper in heavy rain, the wiper in the center of the window is worrisome of unwiped rain in the middle. Can you fix this?

Am I doing something wrong? Rain works like a charm as far as graphics go but I can control it only from the "Sol Planner" tab. There is no "rain debug" option in the "WheatherFX Debug" tab. On top of that I don't really see the differenece in handling between wet and dry surfaces. I tried the Tatuus car with hard slicks and rain tires and had very similar results on a completely damped track. I have the extended physics box checked and I have also made changes in the car.ini file as I saw on a YT tutorial. Btw I also have the paid version of Content Manager and I am on the CSP version v0.1.76-preview92 and SOL 2.1.1.

Damn, these patches are getting better and better, Smoke unfortunately is a big hit and miss, I'd rate it as worse than previous version, very patchy even when limits are in the thousands or off! Long lasting isn't long and there's just a cloud near the car but nothing really trailing, is there something I'm doing wrong?

For some reason when enabling RainFX and water builds up i have absolutely no grip, i do understand that grip decreases in rain but this just feels like driving on ice with no tyres. Even barely touching the throttle in 4th 5th gear the wheels immediately spin up. When going to RainFX settings in game and disabling puddles it handles great. Any ideas how to fix this?

I have noticed that for a quite a few versions already (since the beginning of 1.76?) in clear weather cars seem to have water sprinkled on them in replays. Especially noticeable on glass. Or more like sometimes it's visible and sometimes it's not.

Try to disable FSR.... and/or VR Tweaks....

Hi, I made a 12 hours race this weekend and have some problems with performance and AI. AI is a big issue, it's rude and raw behaviour is already known and would be great to have some refinement, but there are other issues, one of them is that they extrapolate the limits of the car and the track grip wise and, thus, crash too much, at the point that in a longer race the grid become empty after 20 laps, even with agression set as low as possible. Other big issue is that somehow the game doesn't fix them properly when they pit or when you set they to come to the race after going to the pits, some cars even completly broken keep running until they have to stop for fuel and then comeback tothetracstill with problems, which also happens with the player insome cases, I notice that the suspension is the problem. Beyond that there is another big issue with AI, they pit far faster than the player, I had to change the refueling time for my car to try to keep it up with AI and even making1/4faster still piting forfull fuel double the time of the AI,ie. my pit time is1,inutethe AI 30 sec. One more thing is when you touch them they simply turn all the wheel in your direction, I believe to try to keep their line, but in doing so is almost certain that they will make you spin nd take you off the track, it's ridiculous. And one final thing is that they can't overtake slow cars properly, they first brake, reduce speed,then they change lane and only after that begin to overtake, WTF is that? It's a mess! When they reach a another class car or a broken riding slower oreven at 1mph in the middle of the straight and you don't see you will crash to death, I had to put a track map on the screen just to follow the traffic ahead and not be terminated in a stupid AI crash. Further, the performance issue caused me that the 12 hour race lasted 19 hours, because, I don't know why, after 3/4 (160 out of 220 laps) of the race with 40 of the 52 opponents out, the game started showing the message more than 99% of the CPU in us and things start to become slow motioned. The time, usually when this happens, start to run slowly than in real life, but only during the warning, this time was different, the time began to be slower and slower at a point when, at the end of the race, it was running half of the speed,in other words, 1 second in the real world was lasting 2 seconds in the game. It was a nightmare, the race never ended. Said that with the performance issue I believe it could be something related with some new CSP feature as the double precision ,perhaps? I say that because I ran another 12 hour race with 63 AI opponents in the begining of the year (1.73.3 wasthe preview) and that didn't happened, It was Daytona and this time was Le Mans, all with different cars for the WSC 1970 championship, reproducing the original race. About AI as you already made some improvements, it would be nice to fix the issues that I mentioned. Please don't forget the offline races, it's a big deal too! Hope my post can help with some fixtures and bug tracking and wait to see some improvements. Cheers. P.S. If you would like I can demonstrate with footages and images. So i thought i'd give ACC another chance, and it's much better optimized, looked good, then i tried a night time race in the rain........LMAO.....straight back to Assetto for me, they got it so wrong, and the cars shaders don't seem to match the nightime lighting which is weird because the unreal engine has excellent lighting.....it's hard to believe that the original Assetto WITH this mod still puts ACC to shame imo

I agree or put option in tires.ini what color you want. Because if you make some kind of colored smoke it will popup also from front tyres

Any chance we could get an option to change the color of the smoke? Beyond fixing the current color (which more gray), it would also be beneficial customizing drift cars with colored smoke.

It's something to do with Neck FX. I had the same problem, just turned it off and view looks fine. Gotta play with I think...maybe reset to default on that page.

I have a problem with the spray and smoke effects. they only appear confined within an invisible box on screen. sometimes 4 silhouette images of the car appear on screen usually when the smoke or spray is at the highest intensity. I have an AMD gpu with fidelity FX off. seems to be worse with it on. Is there a solution here?

I haven't had any trouble with encrypted mods on 1.76 - they just won't play in Custom Showroom, but they work fine in the sim.

All my colors look really bright, is this just me or happens to be a bug in the patch? I already tried reverting to an old version and cleaning the shaders but that didnt work. Now running the 92 version and reïnstalled SOL, with some tweaking of SOL and PPFilter it is playable.

Hi Ilja and thanks for the fantastic work you are doing. May I suggest a new tool for CM: with all the cars and tracks I have, I (and many other players probably) keep using the same cars and tracks. Would it be possible to have a tool in CM which chooses randomly a car (same era ans similar BHP for example) and a track with a 5 laps race. It would help to discover some cars and tracks. With a "rerset" button so that it can choose an other combination after and after.

Loving the updates but I've now got a slight ghosting around my cars and the tracks look blurry as if its got a slight heat haze. Any ideas on how to fix this ?

i'm really disapointed about the way the smoke looks but really happy about all the fixes, is it possible to maintain the smoke we had before??? because this is to dark grey almost looks like a ghost coming from under the car when dirfting , im not sure if thats just an issue wacthing old replays with new smoke mod but it does not look good for drifting atleast old smoke could be slighly adjusted with the particlefx.ini

What is AccDriftTool, ive been searching a little about and found NOTHING

Ever since 1.76 preview 1, I get an error about CSP failing to patch Assetto Corsa: "Can't find 'replayLeaderboards' and 'pHMD'". This is on Linux using Proton, which worked amazing until this version. Can you please take a look at this? I would be stoked to be able to use 1.76 :) Keep up the good work, you make AC amazing!

yes this is happening to me also, the setting just won't save, it's a content manager issue i think, i don't have to go ingame, i just change the setting to 'Ultra notvisiblewithmode:default', then close CM and reopen and it's back to medium. I've also got Mode:yebis and Mode:fxaa as options too.....all settings will take except Ultra

Hi, I see that you have tweaked something with the light in the night with rain. So the rain effect on the windscreen with wipers off at night is better, but with the wipers on the light in the rain drops still looks wrong as it is lighted above the car's light beam. With a little extra attention I found out that seems to exist a mask that is applied on the windscreen where the car's light beams project itself ahead towards the track and the horizon. Looks like the rain is being lighted as it crosses this mask, but if this is the way how it's being done it's like put a 3D world into a 2D, it's wrong because the rain will be lighted far far ahead at the reach and above of the eye sight because of the perspective effect, but when it's close to the windscreen before the light beam in the line of the eye you will got no light at the rain drops at all. It really needs to be fixed. Setting 80% or more in the amount of rain with a natural PPF and no gamma gain is impossible to see ahead because the only thing will can see is the rain drops lighted in your eye sight! I got a turn around amplifying the gamma of my screen, tweaking some LightingFX and with Sol Extra PPF and it's night config, but it got artificial, doesn't look as in real life. It loses the contrast between the darkness of the night and the brightness of the lights. Hope you find a way to fix this. If you need some more material as videos or pics or a better explanation I'm available.

After I updated the last one my back to pits changed and instead of instant reset it’s like a 1-2 second pause and every second counts when I spin on a tandem train!! That’s my biggest issue other than that it’s been amazing and keep up the amazing work!!!

Am I crazy, or am I feeling engine vibrations through FFB when stationary since installing this version? Using Simucube and using CSP FFB Tweaks.

bro try with and without culling and soft particles. One of them was the culprit for me. Yet some flames render sideways on a few cars lol

Yes I got this bad problem too. I don't even use FSR. The only solution for me is backing to v0.1.76-preview1.. Can someone solve my problem?

Not sure how to find my comment here, so I guess I'll start with a new one as a reply to "I’ll check high/low beams, thanks. Walking out mode is meant to do that, it deactivates AI so you could drive other cars too" I think I've figured what triggers the beam switching to default - whenever there is an AI car in front of the player's car the beam switches. Most likely only with the new behavior AI, but I can't remember exactly (should be in my previous post). Behind the car there can be all the bots in the world, yet the beam stays as set. If I let even one car overtake me from there - the beam switches almost immediately (and of course it switches if a bot is spawned ahead of me too). It's nice to know that the AI not working in the walkout mode actually is a feature, but please at least make it two modes: one where you can switch cars and the other where you can walkout and around while the AI continues to drive. Would be even better if the AI of the car you approach would deactivate, letting you to get in.

I can see as shining texture on the asphalt and on the steering wheel... for example. Everything now is like "sparkling" aroind the "world.

The latest version has the error that the display of the R8 LMS Evo is illuminated in yellow. In addition, faulty LUMIRANKS, vertical lights shine between the numbers

When I left the game, Post-processing antialiasing quality still reverted back to medium from Ultra. I'm using preview92 at this moment. Other things that I found not working in 92 are, rain spray from car tires not working, no more headlight coming from car behind.

Another small issue. Wipers dont clean water drops at exterior view.

I already mailed this FSR issue to Ilja but curious if other experience the same: Using a G2 Reverb, graphics are much blurrier on FSR High Quality mode with 92 than on Quality mode with Preview1. Also in 92 I get more fps on Quality mode than on High Quality mode which doesn't make much sense.

I just tested like 30 minutes, but for now everything seems perfect with this new update. No problems so far. in previous update with preview 63, exhaust smoke was gone. Brake disc and exhaust smoke seems came back with preview 92. People, also don't forget to enable new flames. It makes a huge difference

Check the FSR settings and make sure they're higher. As well as quality settings under Graphic Adjustments.

Previews 63,91&amp;92 make my game look blurry/grainy(and i dont like it). In preview1 my game looks good. What do i need to change to get the same "clarity" in the latest preview?

still no flames. when are you going to fix the bug/issue that stops the new flames from showing up on others cars as well as your own, in game and in replays

I've experienced this but even on previous patches. 1.73 is fine however.

Still no water spray with heavy rain and flooded ground. Other inprovements are awesome. And I notice some fps Boost??. Thanks a lot.

Since updating to 0.1.76 (all previews) I've not had the AI use lights at all; track lights work fine, but AI never turn theirs on, even when 'Force on' is selected in CM. Thanks for the continuing updates though Ilja, really appreciate how much you manage with each update!

What the hell is Overtake Run? I can't drive in any mode .....it says on screen that I have to speed and hold above 80KM/h but it's not easy on the track I'm using and every drive is cancelled if I'm not doing that :) where I can switch it off?? Its not possible to drive.

Oculus Rift render mode has a little stutter/shake, it goes away when preview1 is installed.

I also had this issue. It sounds like maybe there's a permissions issue?

I am glad that my Camera Editor functions have been restored! I was suddenly unable to use it to change fov with the previous build.

Unfortunately, I still have the problem with the steering wheel turned 175 degrees on the Ferarri 458 Gt2, and in Post Processing Anti Aliasing with CMAA I still cannot use the Ultra Settings. If you set it to Ultra, it automatically resets itself to Medium. Both ran without problems in Preview1.

Hmm, I haven’t modified smoke though, although I fixed the issue where custom smoke, including smoke from brakes, exhausts, etc. wasn’t showing. As for car interiors, could you please name any cars with overly dark interiors for me to test here?

I have problems with 2 vehicles, on the one hand the Porsche 911 GT3 from CRSH and the new R8 LMS Evo. As soon as it starts raining, both vehicles drive significantly slower than the rest of the GT3 field. But this has only happened since 1.76, in 1.75 this is not the case. What could be the reason?

I noticed a huge drop in fps with the 0.1.76 preview63 build and now I figured out why - with that update and with this Preview91 update, FSR doesn't work anymore. It doesn't matter if I set it to Custom Quality 87% and Sharpness of 100% or to Performance 50% and Sharpness 0%, both visuals and the fps stays the same (about 30% lower than with the Preview1 build. Also using the debug mode I see that visually nothing changes when pressing the spacebar. FSR simply isn't activated :-/ Edit - I'm using a G2 Reverb, I9 and 2080Super.

mmmm manual speed limiter. Found how to define the button, but now how can I configure the session to have manual SL? The button is working in game, but, as written in changelog, with default settings of the session is still automatically engaged.... can't find where that setting..... or probably I totally misunderstood....

Hi ilja, just wanted to drop by and say "optimize draw order" is still broken. It messes up some mods digital instruments and the numbers on displays hover over driver hands. https://imgur.com/a/3jpMc3w this issue is fixed by disabling optimize draw order but then i lose %10 performance which is actually big.

After a few updates ago, I have been having some issues with replays, it says: "Can’t launch the race: car “” is damaged, model files are missing.". It is hard to identify which car is responsible, in particular if we talk about a 30, 40 cars grid. Also, it didn't happen before. If you need any extra info, please let me know. I 've made a post on GTPlanet and some Discord channels, but nobody replied: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/assetto-corsa-pc-mods-general-discussion.307899/page-2776#post-13476392 Now a question that I've done some time ago, but got lost in the massive replies: Is there any plans to make snow like what you did with rain? I'm sure this has been asked before many times, but any news with extended physics being wonky? For example some cars using different physics configs depending if you play in singleplayer or multiplayer.

thank you IIja. Smoke is better but more rare ! i wish we could increase smoke occurence . i think grass particules do not work anymore. Last one, some car interior are very dark, not sure you can do something about this,thanks cheers (in VR, PP off)

Hi, can you make a mod where it allows us to stall in the game ?

My game now blinks black screens over and over with this new build

but has the incorrect saving of the car setup been corrected? and from some version that it broke. in practice it no longer allows you to load a car setup after loading the first one. Thank you

please fix OpenVr stretched resolution for vr mirroring on monitors. The fov and resolution is messed up for open vr output.
