Also late here, but… The women and children thing was a nice thing to say, however in practice, well, studies show it wasn’t typically practiced. The exception to those findings was the Titanic.

Although you’re not a fan of the romantic movies your exasperation with the ridiculous tropes makes for great content.

I know it's technically an impressive movie, but I just can't with this amount of romantic melodrama.
When I was ten I attended a birthday party that ended with most of the other girls sitting in a circle crying while playing the song on repeat. One of the strangest things I've ever experienced to this day.

Wow that would be great. I've also regularly looked for reactions to these movies but there aren't virtually any. Id love to see you react to it. The other two Angels & Demons, and Inferno are also great.

the actress you really liked, 'Kathy bates" played "molly brown", and her nickname was the unsinkable molly brown because legend has it she has survived multiple ships that went down! but on record I believe there were only two, including the titanic that she survived. Which is still amazing considering the odds!!

As far as knots per hour that was very impressive for the time. Today even the large cargo ships travel on average 20 knots with some able to do 25. It does seem slow but the ships back in the old days with sails could only overage about 6 knots with top speeds of 12 knots.

Ok. At least one person covered my first point; bro code applies to bros, and furthermore any respect due any given fellow man is forfeit if you can't be a fuckin' man. This guy was a borderline sociopath. He didn't care about her purity, by the time he was firing that gun. It was pride that something that was his was taken by his lesser, to the point that it infuriated him. Her greatest value, to him was status. Moving on, I'd like to know who on that ship you could name, that's not selfish. It's a universal human train, not a villainous one. Your argument falls short, when rose hides from the ex-fiancé on shore. Perusing her genuine feelings for Jack was partially a move towards him and partially away from a life she detested. I'm curious why you allowed for everyone's way of "how they choose to die" except for Jack and Rose.

Okay, just a few takeaways:
1. Obviously that fucking door was big enough.
2. Rose was a 101 in '97, so that made her 16 or 17 at the time of sinking. Forced into an arranged marriage. Yet with Jack.. First love. She probably lost her virginity in the back of that car. Doesn't make it okay, just understandable
3. Fuck Cal, I say bro code only applies to bros. If we've broke bread together, and I transgress? Buckwheats... Of the Things to Do in Denver, when You're Dead variety. If you know, you know. But if you're just some rich, slap happy dude... Fuck em. It's Mr StealYoGirl.

while i agree that it was factually foolish, the act of rose dropping the heart into the ocean was a symbolic act to show where HER heart belongs. Also, LOVE the back and forth after the film. Best part of the whole video. Thanks for that :)

There’s a chilling and excellent documentary about the modern-day sinking of the Costa Concordia. Very little had apparently been learned from previous disasters. Concordia had the required number of life boats, but some of them could not be lowered because the ship was listing to the side and got in the way.

I think the “women and children first” has always been meant to group us together as the delicate, incompetent groups in need of male protection. It’s thrown in our faces when we talk about equality.

The question whether both could have survived on the door has been going on for decades. Many have even attempted to test out their hypothesis on how it could have been done. Even the famous Mythbusters gave it a shot. For the 25th anniversary, even James Cameron conducted some tests. He had two stunt people submerged in cold ass water and attempt to balance on top the door. What they found was that due to the shivering involved as hypothermia began, balancing two people on there out of the water was very difficult. The Mythbusters got creative and put the life preserver underneath the door to increase buoyancy.
