Behind the scenes EP26: We have an extra studio space!

It has been a while since I've made a behind the scenes video, but here we are! Since I got back from MRRF a lot has happened. I brought Covid with me, so I had to recover while I also had to make content due to my sponsorship. Long story short, it was hectic and now I'm feeling a lot better.

This extra studio helps a lot with getting more efficient and therefore getting more rest. Daniel is also going to do more for the channel. He's good at a lot of things I'm lacking at and we agreed...

Behind the scenes EP25: Large scale 3D printing!

Hi guys! I just got back from a relaxing holiday and I received an enormous 3D printer! It's the Optimus P1 https://www.optimus3dp.com/p1 which was also used by RCLifeOn in which he printed a 1:1 scale version of himself.

I've got some interesting projects for it in mind, among them the 3D printed wheel (yes, a wheel, not a rim ;)) and a single piece guitar. There are more projects further down the line like a 3D prin...

Behind the scenes EP24: What about the extruder? And salt remelting/vapor smoothing PC!

Hi guys!

I hope you're doing well! I'm currently working on several projects which I'm looking forward to for quite some time already. The extruder is coming along nicely. Although at the moment of typing this, just after I finished filming this exact video the extruder stopped working xD This is due to the gears being too flexible with the Nylon-like resin I used. I'm printing it out of the PMMA-like resin at this moment which will work fine.

Another thing I'm going to work on is...

Behind the scenes EP23: I'm taking Casey Neistat's class of film making

Hi guys! I'm taking Casey Neistat's class about film making and story telling. I think it's important to keep educated and it has been a while since I attended a serious class. I think I can improve on my story telling and that's where I focused on in the first video I posted on the platform https://monthly.com/p/0mxEmk I really like the way Casey shows his process and it's very insightful.

I've got some other things g...

Behind the scenes EP22: Let's chat!

Hi guys!

The last days I put more effort in audio. Long before I started this channel, well even before attending the bachelor of Mechanical engineering I had the plan to go to the conservatory to produce music for games and commercials. Luckily I ended up being an engineer. The cool thing about YouTube is that I can combine both worlds of engineering and multi media.

I invested in a mixer and new microphone to make my workflow much easier and improve the quality. Each time I want...

Behind the scenes EP21: Audio is key

Hi guys!

Thanks to some audio plugins I'm using lately from iZotope I'm focusing more on improving my audio and experimenting with it. The bundle I bought is this one: https://www.izotope.com/en/shop/holiday-bundle-diamond.html

I'm still looking for audio ducking, but unfortunately currently Davinci Resolve doesn't support 3rd party plugin side-chaining. LCR-mixing already helps a l...

Million dollar idea?

Hi everyone! I mentioned parts of this idea before in earlier behind the scenes videos and the discord chat, but things have sped up. I was randomly watching a video by Integza and he mentioned a contest with the goal to move the 3D printing industry forward. This is the link to that contest https://event.3d.ru/

The price is a maximum investment in the project of $1.000.000,- and I think that this is an interesting idea to sub...

Behind the scenes EP20: I'm going to Formnext and it's starting to look like Breaking Bad

Hi everyone! Together with Binder3D I'm going to Formnext and we'll be there on Thursday the 18th! I can't wait! I just bought a second hand camcorder to make good looking footage without having to bring the DSLR with gimbal with me and look like some kind of major influencer while killing my arms trying to hold it up xD

I'm also experimenting with dissolving ABS to see if it would be possible to repair the rim that we blew up. I think that this is a very interesting subject which I'm d...

Behind the scenes EP19: This is how I make your names for the studio wall

Hi guys! I recently mentioned in the Discord that that I can show the process of cutting out your names in a video and goth the thumbs up. So, in this video I show the actual process! I recorded this the day before posting the video about that CR-30 so we're stepping back in time a bit xD

I'm going to take a closer look into my audio since it's clipping. I hope you have a great day and if you have any questions about the process, just let me know!

Behind the scenes EP18: I'm going live and VST plugins within Davinci Resolve rocks!

Hi guys! I'm going to make livestreams on Twitch! It won't be a gaming livestream, but I'm going to stream the designs I make in Fusion360. It's not a course, I'll just start designing as I'd normally do so chances are that it's not going as planned xD This is the link to my Twitch account if you're interested: https://www.twitch.tv/jonschone I haven't shared this on YouTube because I want to get familiar with it first. Tensile testing results

Hi everyone! Yesterday I posted the video about my findings of 3D printing ABS as strong as possible with a large nozzle. Chances are that there are ways to improve it further, but this was already getting a bit out of hand. As I've already mentioned, I underestimated the amount of work this takes and it wasn't honestly not a lot of fun to do. But hey, now I can print the rim with confidence!

In the attachment you find two files with the same data. The toplaywith shows the graphs in whi...

Behind the scenes EP17: I bit off more than I can chew.

Hi everyone! It has been a while since you've heard from me and I kind of underestimated the subject I'm working on. On the upside I'm confident that I know how to print the rim in such way that when it fails, it won't be due to the print process itself. I'm really looking forward to posting that video and we've some fun parts in it to spice it up a bit.

If you do have questions or suggestions about the interesting topic of printing as strong as possible, please let me know. Have a nice...

Behind the scenes EP16: Failed video idea?

Hi guys! At first I thought it would be a good idea to only show the summary and results of the tensile testing, but it turns out to be too interesting. We came up with the idea to make a vlog in which I show all cool things in this studio which are too small for a dedicated regular video. We've made a video and although I like it myself, I don't think that this would interest enough people. For now this will be the one and only vlog on this channel exclusively shown to you.

Behind the scenes EP15: Proper tensile testing

I got a professional pull tester from my work to test 3D printed samples with. I made my own program for it in LabVIEW which is specially made for tensile testing 3D printed samples. This is inspired by Stefan from CNC kitchen with whom I had an awesome chat with. This time it will be serious. Not without the proper amount of fun of course, but this time it looks like we know what we are doing xD

In this video I show briefly how this thing works and I do a pull test to show the software...

Behind the scenes EP14: New video idea

Hi guys, how are you doing? At this moment I'm working on the upcoming video in which I show the camera slider. The possibilities of this thing are insane, but you'll find out ;) Within this video Daniël and I made a fun merch promotion clip which is kind of random. I tried some random ideas before, like the fly swatter and the soap pump upgrade, but they ...

Behind the scenes EP13: We set up the new studio!

Hi guys! It has been a while since I posted a new video and here it is! Daniël and I have worked on setting up the new studio and in this video we bring you along with the process. It's a small miracle that it has turned out as well as it did xD

Daniël and I are thinking of doing more videos together in the future just like we did with that video about the rim. What do you think about this idea? Do you think he adds something to the content, would you rather see videos that I make by ...

Behind the scenes EP12: The good, the bad and the awesome

Hi guys! I've got some good news, some bad news and some awesome news as I explain in this video. I really need to take some rest since I feel more tired than I should feel. Some other things like waiting for almost 3 months for the customs to release the CR-30 doesn't help either... I don't want to rant about it, be too negative or feel bad, but I need to let you guys know that I'm having a little break.

On the other hand, awesome things are happening and I'm convinced that I will come...

Behind the scenes EP11 My best or worst idea ever and the project I'm working on

Hi guys! I've been working hard on this new design with the idea to spice up my upcoming videos a bit. The cool thing is that this Huvud board I used, more info here https://hackaday.io/project/174429-huvud-a-3d-printer-tool-head-controller-board enables some cool possibilities with that rocker. It's also possible to make a whole printer with this and I'm very excited about...

Behind the scenes; contest EP4 it's finished, even the firmware works!

Hi guys! Yesterday I managed to make the firmware to work! I even had to dive into the C code itself to modify the way it moved for changing a tool. At this moment I can send T0 and it goes to the left and selects tool 0. And if I send T1 it goes to the right and rocks to tool 1. I don't have to define anything in the slicer, so cool! At this moment the printer is still printing that frog and I still cannot believe that it works that good, almost too good xD I only want to add something to ta...

Behind the scenes; contest EP3 it works mechanically!

Hi guys! The design works! At least mechanically so I've made this quick video to share this. It homes in a funny way and I managed to reach the whole 220mm without having to modify the printer. I'm so happy! The build volume is reduced of course because two hotends sitting next to each other and the room needed to switch them, but it feels good that it goes this far.

I'm going to figure out how this can be controlled during printing and I hope that this can be achieved in the firmware ...

Hi guys how are you doing? You haven't heard from me for quite a while now and I had to make this video about everything that has happened. I'm waiting for my new video card to arrive so I can edit without crashing. A thing that I didn't mention in the video is the insane amount of work that tubing chain was.
