Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and are feeling fresh and ready for the week ahead! Today’s topic is something that I think we all need to make time for and I’m hoping that this motivation chit chat with help us to realise the benefits of being well prepared! As always, you can find my research notes and key takeaways below but please go ahead and watch the full video I have uploaded for everything explained :D Enjoy!


What is preparation:

- [ ] Preparation is the process of getting ready for a task or event by making arrangements, gathering resources, and taking proactive steps to increase the chances of success


Why is preparation important and why should take time to prepare?

- [ ] Your future self will thank you

- [ ] Stay on top of responsibilities

- [ ] Enhances your performance

- [ ] Minimises any chance of mistakes

- [ ] Boosts confidence because you know what you’re doing and there’s a higher rate of success

- [ ] Improved efficiency without unnecessary delays

- [ ] Able to adapt to unexpected situations because you have better knowledge and understanding through research


Why is it hard to prepare and why do we avoid preparation?

- [ ] Procrastination

- [ ] Lack of motivation

- [ ] Overwhelm and/or fear of failure - sense of paralysis

- [ ] Time constraints

- [ ] Lack of awareness about the importance of preparation

- [ ] Perfectionism gets in our way so we spend excessive time on something and feel like we’re still not ready

- [ ] We have a ‘wing it’ attitude


How do we become better at preparing ourselves?

- [ ] Self-motivation/discipline

- [ ] Learn to prioritise and manage time better Set deadlines

- [ ] Improve organisational skills - buy planner, use calendars more, write to do lists

- [ ] Take responsibility and overcome procrastination (pomodoro technique)

- [ ] Choose your hard now rather than later

- [ ] Remind yourself why you need to prepare and think of any consequences if you don’t

- [ ] Create a routine and make it a habit

- [ ] Reflect and learn, what went well from preparing, what didn’t

- [ ] Remain positive and believe in your abilities


What do we need to prepare when it comes to skating?

- [ ] What to focus on during our practise sessions

- [ ] Research about where to go/good times/events

- [ ] Who we’re meeting, when and where

- [ ] Anything you need, skates, tools, drink, headphones etc

- [ ] Charge any filming equipment

- [ ] Pre watch a lesson/class

- [ ] Save videos for Inspo/tutorials
