MONDAY MOTIVATION - Self doubt

Happy Monday! This weeks topic is all about self doubt, what it is, why we feel it and how we can manage this feeling to flip the narrative and think more positively!

Below you will find my research notes and key takeaways but please go ahead and watch the video for everything explained and made relatable! I hope it helps and gives you something to focus and work on throughout the week!


What is self doubt?

- [ ] Lack of belief in ones self

- [ ] Question your worth and capability

- [ ] Common experience

- [ ] Can significantly impact self confidence, motivation and well being


Where does it come from and we do we feel it?


- [ ] Past experiences - previous failures, rejection, negative feedback, traumatic experiences

- [ ] Fear of failure and mistakes - anticipation of negative consequences

- [ ] Comparing ourselves to others - feel inadequate or unsucessful in comparison

- [ ] Lack of validation or support - question our abilities and worth when our efforts are never recognised or appreciated

- [ ] Perfectionism

- [ ] IMPOSTER SYNDROME - feeling like a fraud or unworthy - doubt accomplishment and fear of being exposed as incompetent


How to manage and deal with self doubt:


- [ ] Recognition - acknowledgment and becoming aware of it without judgement - It’s okay and normal

- [ ] Challenge and question your negative thoughts - is there truth in it? Find the route cause.

- [ ] Reframe mistakes and failures - not flaws or incompetence but learning opportunities

- [ ] Focus on strengths and achievements - remind yourself of your capabilities and be proud of what you have done/can do

- [ ] Affirmations - flip the narrative, positive words especially to ourselves have only positive outcomes

- [ ] Seek support and encouragement from family, friends, colleagues

- [ ] Practise self care/love - take care of yourself physically and mentally - kindness, forgiveness and compassion

- [ ] Keep a record of positive feedback and compliments - collect these and remind yourself when you need

- [ ] Set realistic goals and take small steps - build confidence and celebrate each success

- [ ] Self reflection and gratitude - look at obstacles and how you managed them and be grateful for every experience you’ve had and all opportunities that come your way

- [ ] Challenge your comport zone - try new things and embrace the unknown
