Dev Log #3 - All around me are familiar faces.

I've made a quick Before and After of the main girls to compare how much they changed (and how much I learned how to make my own faces instead of just loading someone else char and tweaking here and there).

The before is the very first version (v1) of the character, and the after is the most recent one (I've lost count of the version number, there's a lot of versions between them).

For Prime Girl the first big change (beside trying to make a unique face) was the outfit and the hair, at first I imagined the character with a Bob Cut but after trying a lot of different versions of said hair style I ended up with something else, it just felt right for me. The bodysuit made by tdurden was giving me problems in HS2 (texture problems in her nipple area to be more precise) so I made the call to change the outfit before going further into pre-production. I ended up making a more classic Supergirl (white costume) inspired outfit to better reflect the fact that she's in her first year as a superhero. The P in her chest is still a little goofy and janky but I like it. It was my first time dealing with Overlays and Textures in HS2.

Red Hot is an interesting case because I like her first design but she's more of a "Red Cool" there than a "Red Hot" kinda character. One of my friends instantly recognized her hair as being the Vi hair from Arcane so I changed that (it wasn't intentional I'm not a League fan I just thought the hair was cool when I was looking the hairs in HS2 chara maker), and I had a more "femme fatale" kinda character in my mind when I created her, so I had to purposefully sexualize her outfit a little bit more. After all it's part of her plot, the fact that she is kinda "forced" to use that costume because of her "brand" and not because she likes it, anyway I wasn't supposed to reveal that yet, oh well. There's also the fact she's a Latina woman, I wanted to emphasize that by changing her skin color and other features, that's it. She's our big booty Latina after all.

Now, Bloody Countess... Her costume was literally making me lose half my FPS on HS2, I have no idea why so to save me future headaches with rendering I've changed it. The face was also a slightly tweaked version of someone else's char from the Community Pack in HS2, I'll have to say this to every girl probably. I've wanted some tattoos on her since the beginning but I'm still learning how to do those, it's not a priority right now so I just put some simple tattoos using the Paint 01 and 02 in the Body section of HS2 char maker. I could address the elephant in the room by talking about something a lot of people already told me that she looks like a certain someone but I'll do what I do best: Pretend I'm dead (there's a chance that joke doesn't make sense in english, tough).

Aurora, she underwent a LOT of changes and plastic surgery, she and Sara are probably the characters I changed the most. The first versions didn't looked like the character I had in mind, she is supposed to be the tomboy childhood friend so the most obvious change was putting a tomboy hair on her. Also I changed her hair color. Actually SHE changed her hair color herself, because her natural hair color is still WHITE, she just dyed it black to avoid drawing attention to herself, but that's something you'll learn more in the game. I adjusted some curves and reduced her breasts ONLY BY A LITTLE PUT THE GUN DOWN! She is a speedster so I thought reducing her breasts would make her life easier (and less back pain for her too).

And last but not least, the definitive character I had to work on more than any other, Sara. Oh my sweet Sara, you gave me so much trouble but I love the story I wrote for you so much I'll defend you even if everyone else hates you. At first she was just the hot coworker and the first main girl that interacts with the MC, now she is that and so much more. She's like a therapy dog for the main character AND LET ME ELABORATE before you think I'm saying she's like a pet or something (I gotta choose my analogies better). What I mean is, she is probably the only main girl that really knows how to calm the MC and soothe him. I'm not saying the other girls are cold or something, each one of them has a different dynamic with the MC, but Sara is probably the sweetest of them, actually of all the characters in the game, period. She and Red Hot are probably the more mature from the main cast, but while Red Hot can easily lose her temper and fuck shit up, Sara is always calm and sweet, no matter what happens. But don't think she's the most vanilla of the main cast just because of that, no no no...

Wait a minute, I just realized I was going to make a quick post about the Before and After of the main girls and I already wrote a wall of text, oh man. Think I'll just change the post name to Dev Log and put a number on it, yep that's what I'm doing right now. I almost lost focus and started going deep into Sara backstory and personality, I'm not ready to talk about those yet. I'll do it properly in the future and talk about all girl's personalities and backstory so if you wanna go blind into the game don't worry, I'll warn you before I start talking about this stuff.

Next time I'll start posting more updates about the development, I'm currently remaking Scene 00 and Scene 01 (better lightning, new and improved character models, new angles, new and improved dialogue, more details in the background, etc...) while also working on Scene 02 (big scene outdoors). I'll also post some Sneak Peak screenshots very soon and I'll cook some Aurora special renders. After I finish all main girls special renders, reddit introductory posts and personality/background posts I'll make some popularity polls to get some data about what girls people have liked most so far.
