Cryptid Park - New Game Release!

Hey Cuties!

Surprise!! StarRifle and I have been slowly working on a new game. Was originally going to be the halloween game, but our ideas got bigger and our perfectionism got the better of us some times, but we've now finished the first level!

So please enjoy this on any platform you are on (including Android!) and let us know your feedback. Currently working on the second level, and will have a public release when we are finished with that :)

It's a puzzle game, so don't want to give too much away, but you play as a mimic who can transform into things around the level ;)

Use WASD or arrows to move, and Space bar (plus a few other keys) is your action button :)

Please look forward to more updates and more games, and as always, thanks for any support!

Yep! StarRifle's schedule is pretty packed, but work on the second level is underway. Not sure when they will find time to work on it this and next month, but will be working on it when available!

Are you planing on adding more levels soon?

Its Hughes

Yeah, deff taking some cues from older adventure games, where you kinda have to bang rocks together sometimes, but part of the fun (maybe? I hope haha)

I think if "level one" starts off with a form that's a little more obvious, I was lost for a minute before I realized "oh this form can move in that direction across that thing", technically that form is linked with climbing, but usually with trees, but I see the logic. Maybe something as simple as a "first interaction" that is easy to see so the player understands "oh this kind of object is interact-able", like putting a fireplace out with water or something (random example). That being said, the demo level does a good job since it's pretty simplistic, even a dumbass like me got there in the end. I think if someone's a little confused in the first level it's alright, 'cause level one is gonna be simplistic enough you can just bang rocks together since there's so few things to interact with and a player can get there and learn that they can interact that way with levels. I think highlighting everything would be overkill, especially since it is a puzzle game and being a little confused is kinda the point

Yeah great point! And have gone back and forth on how "obvious" we want intractable objects to be. The hope is that overtime the player will learn what they can and can't do, but with a new player on the first level it could deff be confusing so will think of what we can do to help that :P

The animation is really smooth, love it! The only thing I kinda find a bit of an issue is with the puzzle, the background looks like it cannot be interacted with. But with this being a simple puzzle you'll find yourself on one of the shelves and realize they can be stood on and used with another item. I'm just thinking of later more complex levels where stuff might be easily missed due to a visual looking like a background prop than an actual useable part for the puzzles. So lets say with the tilted shelf there is a light that highlights the tilted shelf surface to make it look like a part of the active scene? Doesn't need to be like yellow paint levels of obvious lol, but something for the first level to attract the players eyes to.
