I wasn't satisfied with the previous "polish", so I did a little more! Environments should feel a lot less 'flat', and make it easier for me to create a sense of depth in the game.
I also did a lot of engineering work to figure out how I could streamline making cutscenes.
That said, I'm noticing there's a slight loss of quality for the "VN" style sprite on the right - is it just me, or do you all notice as well?

I created the first pass at environments I'd need for the demo, and fixed a lot of the code required to get the player character to be able to walk through and interact with their environment!
Given the lack of actual physics engine, I'm doing a lot of code tricks to make it look like the player is moving through the environment. It was pretty fun figuring out how to do it.

This week, I managed to create over 15+ animations for the main character, which should be enough for the introductory chapter! I'll probably have to make more later and clean them up some later, but this is good enough for me to switch to working on environments and other characters.
How to draw environments is still an open question to me, as I've never created environments explicitly for players to explore, but I'm sure I can figure out.

Pretty happy with how my first animations turned out! There's room to clean things up, but I'll revisit that later when I'm further along in the project.

I've spent over 40+ hours in the past week learning how to animate - I've animated tiny things before like opening an eye, but never something as big as a character running.
I knew I had to learn how to be able to make animations to make Loverbend have an explorable overworld, which I really want, but still, it's been tough! That said, it's been really rewarding learning how to do something new.
