This is a film you should definitely watch more than once. The story unfolds in a way that some details of what actually happened are obscured. Amyβs journal was both factual and fabricated and knowing the difference is not so easily understood. Brilliant film.

2023-06-12 01:23:32 +0000 UTCidk if you read these on old posts, but important detail: Nick never hurt her, nor anything remotely similar - before all the murdering ofc, afterwards he pushed her against the door when she threatened him at the end for wanting to leave. The "pushing" incident from the start was all part of her made up narrative in the diary, which I get was maybe confusing since they showed it on screen anyway, though with her voiceover and she later says she made it up. So Nick is not quite as bad as you think. Only thing he did was be unfaithful (which still sucks ofc, but Amy was at that point already manipulating him and faking who she was which also sucks lol).

The only thing he did wrong was cheat on her and I won't defend that but I get it. Once the moved to Missouri she became more and more unhappy and hated ot there. Everything fell apart after that and she put him down and berated him regularly. That's why the sister couldn't stand her bc of how she treated him. He got sick of it and did what he did. It wasn't right but it didn't remotely warrant all thus lol. Nonetheless she wins in the end. This one does an amazing job of displaying how insane the court of public opinion is. The second anything happens everyone automatically labels someone guilty without knowing all the facts. The Buffalo Bills former punter Matt Ariza is going through this. He was accused of being part of the gang rape of a teenage girl while in college. He was cut from the team, labeled a scumbag and his career was ruined. Now a year or so later it turns out he had left the party hours before this happened and wasn't there. It was a confused witness that saw him at the party and thought he was still there. Too late, life ruined. People really need to learn to not be so quick to jump to conclusions and let due process take its place.

2023-04-29 15:44:52 +0000 UTCThis movie had some of the most frightening scenes. I swear! The scene where she kills off Neil Patrick Harris' character is utterly frightening! (Sorry for spoiler). I find it interesting how Trent Reznor of the band Nine Inch Nails did some music for this movie and also actress Reese Witherspoon did some producing for this movie as well. I'm extremely impressed with David Fincher's filmmaking. He makes very dark movies with very fascinating twists and surprises. I gotta say, I admire his directing style a lot.
