Happy winter all! I hope you're doing as well as you can be.

The Power of Small Pledges

There's been a lot of discussion about Patreon over on Bluesky recently, and I chimed in because I cannot overstate how incredible this past year has been for me because of all of YOU.

I mention it in the very first post of that Bluesky thread, but last year I turned a negative profit. (It's fine! Win some years, lose some years.) This year, primarily because of everyone here, I've made more net income than I ever have, haha!

I'm a big fan of wage transparency, especially for freelancers, so, like. Here. A very brief overview of all my freelancer income from my accounting software.

I netted roughly two months' worth of rent because of the combined strength of everyone's pledges. Two! Months! Rent!! That's incredible!

You all have kept my household afloat as we took financial hit after hit in the last half of 2024; every single pledge, whether it was $1 or $8 or somewhere in between, helped to dampen the stress through my surgery complications in July, the debt from Radioactive Cat's treatment, and then all the costs from Temporarily Diabetic Cat's saga.

I cannot thank you all enough. I appreciate every one of your pledges so much more than I can put into words.

Gift a Patreon Membership!

While we're on the subject of pledges, Patreon announced a new feature last month! You can now Gift Membership to other fans! If you have a pal you think would like a membership to my Patreon and you're interested in gifting one to them, here's the link to get that started:

https://www.patreon.com/kodyisover/gift

You can gift them anywhere between 1 month and 1 year's worth of membership, which is pretty neat and right on time for the holidays!

And as a reminder for iOS/Apple users, the Apple Store is being dorky jerks, so paying for anything in Patreon is now much more expensive via in-app purchases because of iOS store fees (and all the money in those fees go to Apple; none of that money makes it to us creators), so if you must make payments on your iOS device, I highly recommend you do any Patreon-related payments in your phone/tablet's browser and not in the Patreon app to save yourself some dough.

Keeping Time Progress Report

Anyway, I am currently penciling the last 12 pages of chapter 3. I'm a bit further behind than I thought I would be, but I also didn't expect to lose a month of work time over the summer to that surgery so I'm trying to give myself some grace about that!

Here's a Denver face I drew this morning that I like, haha!

Meanwhile, over on the Keeping Time main site, Chapter 2 is just about wrap up. Next week are the final two pages of Chapter 2, and then we'll be airing those Keeping Time guest comics that paid members got a sneak preview of last month, and then Chapter 3 will be starting up in the new year!

Anyway, I think that's it from me for now. Thank you again for your support. I know I say it all the time, but your pledges genuinely make a huge, tangible difference in my life. I would have to take on so much more freelance work to make ends meet, leaving way less time and energy for Keeping Time if I didn't have you patrons!!

totally agree!

I appreciate having you! And aww, that stinks, that's a less than stellar attitude for a creator to have. Everyone's financial situation is so volatile! Glad that attitude is in the minority!

Always glad to help out! And even more happy about being appreciated as a patron as well! I actually did stop pledging to some creators in the past when they kinda seemed to take their patrons for granted and badmouthed about people who left. Thankfully that is rarely the case.
