Denver's Junk Drawer is live

IT'S DONE I'M DONE I'M FREEEEEE

I mean, there's a ton more I could do to this, but this hyperfixation has been going on for a WHILE and it's starting to interfere with my sleep and eating schedule, which is how I know it's time to cut it off, haha!

Anyway, without further ado, here's what I've been working on in my spare time!

https://keepingtimecomic.com/denver/index.html

"A browser-based mini-β€˜game’! A throwback to the old point-and-click browser games of the 00s, this is a for-fun site where you can get to know Denver a little better. Best suited to desktop viewing."

Enjoy a minute or two of clicking around Denver's shit, bugging him and maybe find a clue or two about The Past.

I mentioned it on Bluesky, but I miss old 00s browser games. I had the thought the other night at 2am while trying to go to sleep that I could probably make one myself using photos of stuff that the Tennyson boys probably owned.

So here we are! From the jump, one of the things that was important to me was being as conscientious of mobile design & screen readers as possible. Every page (except the TV page) should resize dynamically without breakpoints, and I'm pretty amped on that. (THIS WAS SO HARD)

One of the things I used to love about old browser-based games were hidden links or needing to view the html to find secrets, but that's just not at all accessible, so the Keeping Time toyboxes won't feature any of that! There's no vision tests or hidden anything. If something's interactive, it'll light up when you hover over it on desktop! (On mobile, it should at least have a big ol' drop shadow to separate it from purely decorative elements.)

And that's right, this is the first toybox of FOUR, LOL. All the Tennyson boys will get their own, although Denver and Daniel's will be the most sprawling.

I'll probably be adding things to Denver's as time goes on!

And as a fun gift to you patrons, you can see all the photos I took for this. I went out of my way to get my hands on most of the things shown here, although some things (like the Dead Kennedys albums), my partner and I already owned!

It was many, many hours of trial and error πŸ₯² but I really have fun learning new skills when it's a topic of interest to me! And I can neither confirm nor deny the importance of that Alex letter... but Denver definitely doesn't want anyone else to see it.... 🧐🧐

AWW DUDEEE thank you!!!! it was stupid fun to make haha

This is sooo cool!! What a nice way to learn more about the band members! Alex’s letter got me super excited but of course Denver has to snatched it away… πŸ˜’ Also, that TV?!! It’s so well done!

This was so cute! Can't imagine the amount of work that went into this, your patience is unmatched. That letter from Alex is 100% gonna be important and 100% gonna be sad huh πŸ™ƒ

Ahhh thank you dude!! 😭 When I first started on this a couple weeks ago, I was dragging my feet about having to design a mobile version, but eventually I came around to it because it's like, I just gotta face the reality that a lot of users - especially younger users!!! - ONLY interface with the Internet mobile devices, so I gotta meet them where they are! I'm glad it's performing on mobile without too many issues!n πŸ₯ΉπŸ₯Ή
