August Newsletter

I promised a newsletter update today, and I am delivering!!

Kody's On Another Podcast!

First up - thank you to everyone who submitted reader questions to the Comics - Coffee - Metal podcast the other week. The episode just came out today (the main reason I tried to time this newsletter to today, haha)!

Like to simply listen to your podcasts? Check it out here!

Rather watch me make a fool of myself on camera (and also see Don's REALLY cool studio)? Then the YouTube version is the one for you!

I had a blast talking to Don (my first real time getting to know him). I'm not much of a metal guy, but I've been slowly getting into it partly as research for Stef, so it was fun to get to chat about that with Don!! Also Don is the first person to bring up the fact that I list all the Tennyson boys' gear on the Characters page of the Keeping Time site and that made me so, so happy and validated, hahaha!!

August Has Been... Rough

I mentioned it a little in the higher tiers, but August has not been going to plan. On the last Sunday of July, my partner came home early from work because he didn't feel well, and the next day he tested positive for COVID. This was the same week I had to take one of my cats to the a specialty feline hyperthyroid center and have my final follow-up with my surgeon to figure out if I am cleared for physical activity like walking and bicycling, so that final week of July turning into August was Very Stressful.

For a week and a half, I couldn't do much but try to not catch COVID from my partner in our tiny one bedroom apartment, while simultaneously trying to maintain a minimum one-foot distance from the cat that came back from the hyperthyroid center because he was RADIOACTIVE. My work computer is also stationed in a terrible spot for all of this, so I really couldn't get much work done for the entire week-and-a-half my partner was contagious. ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

On the bright side, my partner is now recovered and back to work, which means I am, too! But all of this has had the effect that progress on chapter 3 is much, muuuuch slower going than I thought it would be.

I anticipate having this first scene done sometime next week, though! Thanks so much for your patience and understanding that I really haven't been able to draw at all for what feels like the whole month and a half now. Now that we're pretty much through with my giant buffer of pages, I'm considering switching to batch updates, rather than single page updates. I'll take a poll to see how Latte and Espresso members feel about that!

A Secret Side Project Is Coming Along

I've been working on something on the side, purely for my own enjoyment and mental health. It involves a lot of digging up CSS & HMTL coding knowledge that's been in disuse since I stopped making Neopets webpages. I'm also getting to learn a little more JavaScript, which I've been dabbling in since making a bunch of customizations to the Keeping Time site!

I don't want to give too much away, but I will let you folks have a little sneak peek.

๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€ What could this be, I wonder....

Okay, that's it from me for now! Thank you all so, so much for your continued support, and especially all your grace and understanding that things have been very out of the ordinary for me, Patreon content-wise, these past two months.

(Patreon did that thing again where it made one of my images not work on the first post; it's fixed now so I'm sending out an edit update!)

*EIGHTY DAYS* is WILD. Yeah, that would have been flushed in my house too lmao. Here see, learn something new every day, I now know how to look after a radioactive cat should one ever cross my path. Hope your cat is on the mend now tho

Yukiizura

I also didn't realize you could have a radioactive cat until this happened. ๐Ÿ˜ญ For two weeks, we were supposed to limit close (defined as 'within 1 foot') contact to him AND to dispose of his litter in a ~radiation safe~ way, which means, ideally, storing it in a large, thick plastic bucket for 80 DAYS until it's no longer radioactive. AHHHH (we opted to flush it, because they said that's also fine because the city's wastewater can handle that much radiation, they just don't like to recommend it because littler causes clogs lmaooo)

I'll definitely check out that podcast with Don when I can! And new project you say ๐Ÿ‘€ Life seems hellbent on kicking you while you're down huh ๐Ÿ˜ญ I'm glad things are looking up for you and your partner tho. A *radioactive* cat is a new one for me, that must have been fun ๐Ÿ’€
