I apologize in advance of not having any like, drawings, to share, but I have been in a state of 'wake up, drink coffee, work on script and thumbnails for 7 hours straight' since I last checked in, and I'm now clocking in at 84 pages of thumbs and 11,308 words of script. I think I'm on to something good here?! Is this comic I'm making... actually gonna rule?! (God, I hope so.)
Whenever my partner is home which makes it hard for me to concentrate, or whenever I get stuck on thumbnailing, I've been lettering my thumbnails in Illustrator! Since I'm planning on lettering this whole thing myself, I want both the practice, and to get a better idea of how much space I need to leave in the final page art for the balloons. I'm also coming across some layout flaws while doing this, where I could better stage a panel/page for reading flow, so it's been very helpful practice, and I'll be glad to iron out these errors now, in thumbs, when my commitment to the drawings is low!
I'm really having a lot of fun in lettering, and I think my final approach to it will be more manga-influenced than this page of letters, which feels both more right to me, and also means I don't have to deal with curved balloon tails which I have determined were created by Satan himself because they are hard and easy to make look ugly.
Anyway, enjoy this early page of Denver and one of his three older sisters, Rorie, who is my favorite of the sisters. (Ssh, don't tell the other sisters.)
