[This is the first of what we hope to be a recurring feature here, a preview of what is to come!]
You’ve reached the top of the Food Chain. You’ve sailed through Friendly Waters. You’ve soared past Tough Skies. What could possibly be next?
Get ready for a blast from the past as we unleash...the Lost Beasts! This 6-card expansion to Food Chain Island introduces never-before-seen creatures — and we mean that literally. These ancient animals offer plenty of prehistoric twists for experienced Islanders.

First up are the aquatic plesiosaurus and the winged pterodactyl. These can be shuffled in alongside their Water and Air counterparts to introduce more variety to your starting setups. You can always use more or fewer Water and Air animals to control the difficulty.
We’re also adding 4 new Land Animals. Whenever you include these in your game, you’ll use one of the new starting layouts with a whopping 20 Animals to manage. Each of the newcomers shares a number — but not an ability — with a previously existing creature. In fact, these cards don’t have abilities at all: they have challenging restrictions on what they can eat. To make things harder, Animals of equal value won’t ordinarily eat each other. It’ll take some crafty stacking to clear out these critters!

Lost Beasts has something for every Food Chain Island player. It’s also completely modular: if you like Friendly Waters but not Tough Skies, you can plop that plesiosaurus into your game without any hesitation. If you’re hungry for more Food Chain Island, you won’t want to miss out on Lost Beasts.
This expansion will be available in the $10+ level December packages, which are not as far off as you'd imagine. We are placing orders for the last parts this weekend, and expect the parts to arrive in about 1 month.
And with that, to answer some questions that have popped up here. The current Kickstarter campaign has a level to include this expansion. If you are a $10+ patron, you will already be getting it. So no need to pledge for it there.
