Tussie Mussie is live on Kickstarter! Here are your discount details

First a quick update: It seems when I make nice progress on one thing, other things fall behind. We're shipping out a lot right now. 3 Kickstarter campaigns at once (if you backed Anthelion, Antinomy or Handsome, you should be seeing them very soon), a bunch of catchup packages for February and a the last of March, and a ton of web orders and pre-orders.

We're assembling April (the last piece arrives tomorrow) and starting on May too, which is mostly here. We just need a few more days of getting things in order and we should be right back where we were. Being sick for like 3 weeks and losing the person that assembles all of the BGOTMC packages didn't help either. But we're moving forward. May was just a rough one here.

The last piece of overdue information is the June preview. The June package has more Chain Mail (The Mushketeer arrives!), more Tempus Quest, more Anthelion and MechAge (which is just hitting many of you now) and Handsome. It's another jam-packed month, and it's expanding on so many games at once.

Now onto Tussie Mussie!

Our newest game, Tussie Mussie, is live on Kickstarter. As a member you will receive a discount, and all of the details are below. Any questions, just ask!

The first important thing is the link:

Tussie Mussie - by Elizabeth Hargrave (Wingspan)

Here's how to pledge at Kickstarter

Don’t bother, you’ll get it for free here. :)  There's a full color early version in the dropbox right now. Solo expansion too.

Tussie Mussie Game - US (normally $13)

Tussie Mussie Game - CA (normally $17)

Tussie Mussie Game - INT (normally $20)

If you want any of the other reward levels, the prices are here. Just subtract your discount from the total.

A reminder of your discount: $1-3 Patrons save $1, $5 Patrons save $2, $10+ Patrons save $5.

Tussie Mussie and Sprawlopolis

US $23, CA $27, INT $30 - This is before your discount. Don't forget to subtract it.

Tussie Mussie and Solo Playmat

US $37, CA $45, INT $52  - This is before your discount. Don't forget to subtract it.

So what's the game all about?

Coming from an era full of fads such as using tear catchers to determine the length of mourning, Tussie-Mussie is based on Victorian fad that assigned meanings to the flowers that friends and lovers exchanged

Famous authors such as William Shakespeare, Jane Austen,  Charlotte Bronte, and Emily Bronte all utilized the meaning of flowers  in their writings, and now you can experience the language of flowers in  this newest wallet game from Wingspan designer Elizabeth Hargrave, and  Button Shy Games. (Also includes a solo expansion by Mike Mullins - see  below for more info.)

Featuring I-Split-You-Choose drafting, players draw 2 cards and offer  one face-up and another face-down to their neighbor. The neighbor takes  their choice and the active player receives the other. After everyone  has 4 cards, face-down cards are revealed and everyone scores their  collection. After 3 rounds the scores are totaled to determine a winner!

Here's the link again. Thanks everyone!

Hey Joshua, Patreon messages are not monitored. The best way to get ahold of us is emailing buttonshyhelp@gmail.com directly. For double shipments, we don't ask for them back. If you'd like to, you could pass it along to a friend you think might enjoy it.

Matthew Mitchell

I just sent this message via Patreon message, and I'll send it again via e-mail: "Hey, there. Sorry it took me a long time to get back to you, (my schedule has been unrelenting, but that shouldn't be an excuse). I just wanted to say thank you for your response and customer service, and for sending me a package ahead of the mass shipment. I'm sorry that I compelled you in that direction, but thankful regardless. Also, a couple days ago I actually received an identical second package for the BGOTM May edition. Should I send this back/forward it somewhere?

Joshua Acosta

I'm pretty good at answering emails within 24 hours during the week. Weekends sometime get left behind as I'm spending time with my family. And every once in awhile I have 3-4 days worth of vacation that I only put out fires, but USUALLY you can get quick answers by emailing me directly. buttonshyhelp@gmail.com

Matthew Mitchell

The message issue 100% needs to be resolved on our end. With only one account here, it's not great and we have better ways to get in touch with us (almost instantly) and I need to make sure everyone knows about them.

Button Shy

Without the prior knowledge that Button Shy Patreon messages were not monitored, the above comment is rescinded... for the most part. I’m wondering why I hadn’t known that though. Either way, rescinded. Mostly.

Joshua Acosta

I'm not saying you are technically wrong on most of your points, but I'd say the ratio of "vitriol" to "wrongdoing" is off the charts in many situations, more so with even the slightest knowledge of BS and how they work. That's not to say that a person shouldn't have expectations on timeliness and service, but wow.... They are a small operation that are exactly the kind of people and kind of thing that patreon and KS are made to support. I'm trying not to be acerbic, but it almost seems like it would require a bit of willful ignorance to not be able to get in touch with someone from BS. Given the nature of the situation, I do think a bit more effort and more patience on your part isn't unreasonable.

Kevin Thomas

Hey Joshua, I appreciate your message and want to mention a few things. 1) The reason others are getting Penny Rails first is because the packages here contain more than just Penny Rails. They have 2-3 other games that need to be in hand to be sent out. That causes a big difference in timeline. The Board Game of the Month Club is not a place to get games before anywhere else. With the full $20 package we're always waiting on the last item, whether it's one piece of rules or a small expansion or a roll and write. If you want games fast, going all in isn't the best place. 2) Catching up isn't happening yet, and I'm an eternal optimist so I keep trying, but the reality is we're mailing out packages every month, they are just not that months package. You will always get what you ordered, but the amount of moving parts from when we sign a game until it's in your hand is astronomical. We're shipping out the last of March now, a package that includes a full Chain Mail scenario, a full second tiny game, an Anthelion expansion, a roll and write, and the game Anthelion. It's 5 designers, 4 artists, and me before it's even printed. Then it's a team of 6 people here to assemble and mail. So it may take a few months from the time we pitch it to you until the time you get it. The best thing I can say is you'll get everything eventually (and if there's anything you haven't gotten, please reach out to buttonshyhelp@gmail.com and Matthew will get it onto our shipping list), but if you are unhappy I don't suggest that you continue to support something that isn't what you want. As for messages here, it's the one place that our customer support cannot access as Patreon doesn't allow for moderators or group accounts, so I suggest using buttonshyhelp@gmail.com for anything at all. I'm going to take a look and see if there are any third party services that can help out with this, or just have Matthew reply to the email addresses we have on file.

Button Shy

Is it just me or does this bother anyone else, too? …It's frustrating that being part of the BGOTMC is less of an exclusive subscription "club" and more of a delayed-gratification preorder system to finance Button Shy's production schedule with the promise of receiving newly released games sometime in the future, albeit much later than others who order them normally. It's understandable if a package or two is slightly late, sure. But for to be told that March and April packages would be mailed out in the month of April, only to have STILL not received either one is an entirely different thing altogether (today being June 6, btw). Granted, I've been a patron for quite some time, so I (regrettably) have come to expect this, because this has somehow always been the case. BUT it would be great if there could at least be some clarity, coordination, and realistic expectation with regard to when game packages should ACTUALLY be received by patrons. I mean, really, is it so unreasonable to expect that something to which someone has subscribed (or, more plainly, for which someone has already effectively paid) should be received less than 3+ months after the fact? OR for example, in the case of the most recent release, Penny Rails, is it so outlandish to feel frustrated that those who have been supporting (AKA paid $20) since AT LEAST 4/30/2019 (or in my case monthly since before 2019) have still not received a package containing Penny Rails (not to mention March/April packages), yet mostly all people, if not everyone, who preordered the game on or after 4/25/2019 have already received the game? Now, I get it. I’m ranting. But with good reason. I’ve been looking forward to Penny Rails for quite some time – more than two years, in fact. And I joined BGOTMC because I knew that it was eventually coming down the pipeline, and I was hoping to be able to play/have it as early as possible, essentially as soon as it was available, if not sooner than most other people. And yeah, you can say maybe I had unrealistic expectations; and yeah, I’m just a patron and rewards are not necessarily guaranteed; and yeah, it was never promised that BGOTMC members would receive newly released games the same time as or before regular preorder… I get that. BUT I was hoping to at least avoid such a ridiculous time gap between public availability and receipt of prepaid supporter package, and I even took measures to do so. Around the time preorder for Penny Rails was announced, I reached out to Button Shy via Patreon message essentially asking if preorders would deliver before May BGOTMC or after the fact so that I could decide to preorder if May BGOTMC wouldn’t arrive before a preorder would. This message went unanswered and has gone still unanswered. I have even sent them a follow-up message regarding this which has, you guessed it, gone unanswered. Maybe I’m just expecting too much, but I was under the (possibly false) impression that Patreon tier descriptions were a reflection of how the creator (Button Shy) would REWARD supporters (patrons) for their continued patronage. However, it feels more like the “reward” is some vague altruistic sense of satisfaction I’m supposed to feel by helping to finance Button Shy’s feverish production schedule so that they can pump out games left and right for consumers who purchase their games on occasion rather than those who give them recurring revenue monthly like the 600+ of us patrons. Is it unreasonable to hope that this disconnect will ever be attenuated by way of Button Shy catching up on its backlog of supporter packages? They’ve been promising such for many, many months. Maybe it would be best if they just pump the brakes a little bit, get caught up with the backlog, stop the monthly Kickstarter campaigns, and then regroup, heck, maybe even hire more people to do the work that their staff evidently can’t handle. Obviously, I don’t own a small publishing/production company, but I of course realize how impractical that sounds. But, regardless, sooner or later SOMETHING’s got to give. If not, I’m stuck wondering if it will be me that continues to “give” monetarily or whether or not I’ll just “give”...up on supporting Button Shy. Feel free to criticize/ostracize me. It’s a frustrated rant. I know it was harsh, but I feel like it had to be said. No further comment.

Hey Mary, for just the playmat, you will pledge: $20 plus shipping ($7 US / $15 CA / $22 INT) minus discount. So for a $20 backer: US would be $22, Canada would be $30, International would be $37.

Matthew Mitchell

Hi, I have signed up for the $20 patreon. How do I make sure I get tussie mussie plus the play mat? On Kickstarter I chose the board game of the month and changed my pledge to $32

Marleeze

:thumb: you got it!

Matthew Mitchell

Situation: I'm a $10 Patron that received the March BGotM pack with the Anthelion expansion... But apparently I didn't back the project in January! I'm currently a backer of Tussie Mussie. Question: What should I do to procure a copy of Anthelion Base game? Happy to do whatever makes it easier on you guys, be that order via the website, add money to Tussie Musie Pledge, etc. Continually impressed by everyone at Button Shy; you guys are killing it. **EDIT** Read to the bottom of the Kickstarter about add-ons: I'll put in the order on the site and use `0519us`! You're always 1 step ahead of me :)

Jeremy Scherer

I can't answer the weight question, but the playmat is similar to a giant mouse-pad. Smooth fabric on top with a neoprene rubber-like bottom so it doesn't slide around.

Matthew Mitchell

Have you gotten a weight for the playmat yet? KS still shows $7. Also, what is the playmat made of?

Diana Sharpe

Sounds good, thanks!

Alex Kern

Pre-Orders are sent out after Kickstarter Rewards are all sent out. So we are still at least a couple of weeks out.

Matthew Mitchell

Cool, how about the preorder ?

Alex Kern

Hey Alex, If you signed up during May, your first charge will be June. So when June hits (tomorrow) you can use your discount on the website like that. =)

Matthew Mitchell

Hi, I just signed up in May at 10 level. I was wondering if I can use the discount to get Sprawlopolis by itself from the website? Also have the preorders for Antinomy shipping soon, really looking forward to getting it.

Alex Kern

Thanks! Just trying to find out the best way to jump in for the first time on both the KS and Patreon but this helps!

J. J. Cole

Anthelion is an expansion, MechAge is a standalone expansion for the March MechAge (interchangeable like Twin Stars). The $20 Featured Game is Handsome with its expansion.

Matthew Mitchell

Also, what is the $20 level featured game for June? Or is that Handsome?

J. J. Cole

Can you clarify what's included in June? Anthelion is an expansion, MechAge is standalone or expansion? And Handsome expansion?

J. J. Cole

That’s correct. I don’t have a weight for just the playmat to see if the shipping weight drops down, but I will before the campaign ends. In that case, it’ll be $2-$3 even cheaper

Button Shy

So getting just the playmat shipped to the USA if I am a $20+ a month patreon member should be $22 then? Sorry, the inclusion of minus discount at the end of your comment is throwing me.

Matt Shoemaker

$20 plus shipping ($7 US / $15 CA / $22 INT) Minus discount.

Matthew Mitchell

$20 BGOTMC members will get the game and expansion. The playmat would be extra. The best way to get just the playmat is to follow the above instructions to pledge on the BGOTMC level of the Kickstarter. The playmat is: $20 plus shipping ($7 US / $15 CA / $22 INT) Minus discount.

Matthew Mitchell

2nding Theresa's question. I'm a $20 Patreon member, and you list that as a $5 discount and the tier with the game + playmat at $37. If we are getting the game as the monthly game, how much should we be pledging on the kickstarter for just the playmat?

Matt Shoemaker

Hi Jason! So this is my first time being a Patreon member and seeing the same game on Kickstarter. I have historically pledged via Kickstarter but now I’m going to get it as the monthly game. Question- Will it come with the expansion and the play mat? And if not how do I get the expansion and play mat on kickstarter without having to pledge for another game?

Theresa D.

I fixed the link for the third time. It turns out that pasting over it changes the text retains the hyperlink information from the previous one. So frustrating, but thanks for the heads up!

Button Shy

same here; no Tussie only Handsome

Robert Slaughter

Just backed, but the link is wrong. It points to Handsome.

James Bass

Jason the link takes me to the Handsome Kickstarter.
