What's Coming in February 2019?

If you are not a patron (yes - this is a rare "public" post, but I think the monthly teases probably should be public), you will need to join before 2/1/19 to receive the February package. You can also order the $10 package on our website, but you won't receive a few extra goodies that the subscribers receive (PNPs, monthly discount code, savings on shipping, etc).

Here's the link to order separately at the site: https://buttonshygames.com/products/board-game-of-the-month-club-february-2019

Sales pitch over, let's look at the content!

Chain Mail ($5+)

Since January hasn't shipped yet, it's hard to tease where the adventure is going in February, but here are some details.

Gone are the days of sure footing. This part of the dungeon makes adventurers cautious with every step, for the next could be quicksand ready to swallow you up. As if that’s not bad enough, nets from the cave’s roof fall upon unsuspecting wanderers, trapping them beneath. Only a small number have explored the Shifting Sands entirely and those that have are either lucky or lying, but they have one thing in common - they’re all rich from its treasures.

If you missed January, you can order a copy here: https://buttonshygames.com/collections/board-game-of-the-month-club-packages/products/board-game-of-the-month-club-january-2019

If you missed the starter package, you will receive it with your first month of subscription. We'll also be providing PNP to everyone and you can fill in any gaps with printed pages as there is no card shuffling.

Tempus Quest ($5+)

Here's another one where we're jumping into episode 2 before you have episode 1, but the train keeps moving here whether or not I'm ready for it. :)

I don't have a preview for Episode 2 yet, but we're launching Episode 0 online within the next few days. It'll be a free introductory to the pen and paper, but not roll and write world of Tempus Quest.

Episode 2: The Dust Farmers

After escaping The Dynasty, the crew lands on a small desert planet to load up on food and supplies. But the planet is almost barren. The farmers trying to make a living there need help irrigating the town and fields. Water is at a premium here, luckily all that slime you have on the ship is valuable to the farmers. Gain 1 water for each slime you had at the end of episode 1. Get the town up and running and grow enough food to feed the farmers and take some extra for yourselves.

Sprawlopolis: Beaches ($10+)

I know this is the one you've been waiting for. It's our first post-Kickstarter expansion for our biggest Kickstarter game to date. (I should mention it's the first of a few that we're working on).

Sprawlopolis: Beaches turns your expanding city into a crammed beach town, with water on three sides of the map. One beach card is flipped and added to your scoring goals as a way to earn some bonus points. The other three are shuffled into the deck, and when you draw a beach card, you must place it on the North, South, East or West end of the map. Only one beach card can go on each side, and before you know it, you'll have set the borders, and cannot build beyond the water line.

For someone that wants to stay on their toes with every draw, and shift their approach to map building in a whole new way, you'll want to check out Sprawlopolis: Beaches.

We know this one is going to have a lot of interest,s o we made the expansion available separately as well at: https://buttonshygames.com/products/sprawlopolis-beaches

Dicecathlon ($10+)

Dicecathlon is a 3 card, dice-based, speed and dexterity tournament of champions. 2-4 players will stack, roll and re-roll, and flick dice in a series of variable challenges. Requires up to 5 dice per player. A Tenzi set will go a long way with this game. :)

Why I Otter ($20+)

The 47th game in our Wallet Line is coming directly to you without Kickstarter or any of that (not always) fun stuff. If you are NOT a $20+ patron, you can still receive the game by ordering it at: https://buttonshygames.com/products/why-i-otter

You can use your custom Patreon coupon code to save $1/$2/$5, or you can use a Kickstarter coupon code to tie it to a game there to save shipping, if that's going to save you some more money. We still don't have a way to do more than one coupon code at a time.

And Patrons, as always, you can swap in a different game that's in our current collection. We'll post when it's time to ship asking if anyone wants to swap.

Onto the game!

2P / Ages 6+ / 15 Minutes
In this trick taking game, you’ll play an otter card each round to try and win the tricks that will best help you score at the end of the game according to the scoring conditions provided in the River.

Why I Otter was designed by Aaron Andrew Wilson and submitted to our 2018 Gen Can't Design Contest. It hovered real close to the top for many of the judges and we're happy to have the opportunity to get it into our line and finally work with Aaron.

We would put this alongside Potions Class as another great 2P parent and child game, or one to play with friends that enjoy some of the lighter side of pocket-sized gaming.

We also hired our new neighbor, Lee at Rad Robot, for the art and he nailed it. This was right in his color palette and design style. I can't wait for the next opportunity to work with Lee.

That's it for February. We couldn't squeeze another thing in. Well... you'll see.

Hey Fernando! Glad to have you join us! Unfortunately, Jason's inbox is known for eating emails... will you send your questions on to buttonshyhelp@gmail.com? I'd be happy to answer them!

Matthew Mitchell

Hi, I'm a new patron, and since I have some questions, I've sent you an email a couple of days ago. Hope you got it.
