Hello everyone!
Quick update here to say that the next round of packages are out. Over 100 went out on Saturday and another huge batch today. ($20 supporters, expect a message asking for your game choice. )
So keep an eye on your mailboxes for the August 2017 packages (if you were a subscriber as of July 30th 2017, you’ll be getting one of these). September are up next. I would expect to see a package every few weeks until the end of the year as we’re playing hardcore catchup around here. Part of that catchup was dropping the insert (with the game names and interview). Those are always the holdup in printing and they shouldn’t be, so I’m working on a digital insert format to go along with the packages here.
Next up will be the PNPs for the month, which we’re still getting in place. Expect them ASAP.
Speaking of PNPs, here’s a new one for our upcoming Kickstarter. It’s our first since July and feels like forever. This one has been a long time in the making and is finally almost ready.
The game is HeroTec by Duane Kolar, and here’s some setup:
Welcome to HeroTec, an engineering firm that builds custom equipment for superheroes. You and your lab-mates will sift through a common stockpile of resources and plans, building items in your workshops.
Your benefactor requires four types of items: a gadget, a costume, a vehicle, and a lair. Whoever builds the best hero (most victory points (VP)), most quickly wins.
Here's the folder with everything (Note: rules and cards are not final, but getting there): https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8fzzorf6k7sbds0/AACQaOctrOiBDqbJVrXcImUka?dl=0
We’ve been pushing here for a solution to make everything a little better around here and it came down to 2 things. Reducing logistics and raising the quality of the postcard games. We can reduce the large mess of logistics by getting things a little more uniform from month to month. In 2016 and 2017 we worked with a new designer and artist every single month. Each month we would start over, explain to them what we’ve done, work with them to do something different and after lots and lots of work, we were ready to start on the game. It became a big pull on our small amount of resources and we found a way to focus it. So the first step was to tighten the group up, to a smaller dedicated team that knows the product inside out.
And at the same time, by reducing the logistical nightmare, we’re able to up the quality of everything. The postcard games are made by the smaller hand picked group, and they are built far in advance. And instead of starting from scratch each month, they will expand upon the last one. We built a postcard series for 2018 that is essentially 12 episodes of a single game. You can play one or all, jumping in at any time.
With all of that in mind, expect an announcement in the next few weeks about the 2018 postcard series, and additional content that will come along with it. I'm VERY excited about this, and I hope you will be too. :)
