I’ve only known about this anime when I started to watch the 2018 “Die Neue These” reboot. This anime has 110 episodes that debuted in 1988. This anime checks all the quintessential Space Opera genre boxes. It takes place in the distant future where humanity has technically advanced & have resettled throughout the galaxy. They’re 2 major factions that have sustained 150 years of warfare over their political beliefs. That’s a very brief synopsis. The rest would only be speculation on my part.
