The "Villainess" theme is a new trend of the last few years, but all of those anime are unrelated to one another. And, in this case in particular, don't rely too much on the title: the story is different from what you might expect from something called like that. All in all it's a nice watch. Nothing groundbreaking, and production&animation-wise it has its fair amount of flaws, but it's still a new spin on the villainess genre. And novelty is always appreciated.
