for the neckless wear jewelry the color of the master (color of the hair, eyes, dress, favorite theme color of the master), is sign of ownership to avoid other people to covet them, a kind of safe guard (for maomao in any case). receiving jewelery from the oppisite sex is considered a great mark affection (rather romantic but can also be a great amical affection like a bestfriend or a childhood friend) and in china (may be in asia in general i'm not sure) give a hair pin (above all a personal one) is considered to be an act of great romantisims (like offering diamond in western contry europe north america)

2024-03-20 20:24:44 +0000 UTCWell there isn't much to add for this episode. The Hairpin thing gets more explaination probably next episode i believe. I suppose the Weight thingy is something but that is probably not much of a secret.. maomao said it herself, no one would kidnap a small, skinny and ugly Girl. She made herself ugly with fake freckles (they are considered imperfections a reason why they love their powder so much besides making the skin more white) so we can assume she is small and skinny for her age (and flat) so people that like her want to see her more healthy that is why they try to get her to eat. There is also to be considered that she is a maid in waiting for an important person, so everything related to maomao comes back around to her mistress, especially if others think she isn't treatet well enough, even tho no one would actually speak up against it because of the high rank the concubines have.
