as the 3 prior comments touch on this is pretty much THE car/racing/drifting anime. it made me a car guy. a bit more backstory. Keiichi Tsuchiya grew up in the 60's and 70's obessed with racing and in those years he would watch as a lot of the drivers would have to "Drift" through the corners because with the tires back then it was actually faster. fast forward a decade and he starts street racing up and down mountain roads in Japan known as "touge" it was sorta niche but popular and he honed the hell out of his skills and natural talent doing that. working his way into and up the world of Japanese motorsport dominating alot of events. towards the mid way point of his carrier when he would have massive leads he would start drifting the car through the corners to entertain the crowd, plus some other less popular drivers where doing it as well. he then went and placed well and/or won alot of international racing events outside of Japan. do to his fame and him admitting to street racing in the mountains. plus the car boom for Japan that happened in the late 80's through the early 2000's Touge racing and drifting exploded. earning him the title Drift King. their where more than a few people involved but if you have to point to one man responsible for drifting being a world wide sport it's Keiichi Tsuchiya he is a legend. the anime's main character is inspired by him and the main car is the same car he was most known for the AE86. he helped with the anime which started in the 90's had it's fourth season around 2006 ish and just had it's fifth and 6th(final season) in 2011-2014 the anime is a fictional but 90% releastic story of Mountain pass Touge racing in 90's Japan with teams claiming home mountains and racing for timed runs and head to head cat and mouse matches. the main character's father has basically tuned the AE86 into a monster purpose built to train his son's skills and forced him to drive since he was 13 or so. up and down the local mountain almost everyday rain, snow, hot, cold etc. to make delivery for their tofu shop to the resort at the top. this is episode 1-3 stuff so not really spoilers. the show is a coming of age tail of the main character discovery his love of racing, girl's, making freinds and racing all challengers down a mountain pass at night to the Sickest Euro beat Soundtrack the Soundtrack to the show is second to none and the opening are the weakest songs it has. hope you decide to react to the show you won't reget it and yoiu'll get alot of support from car guys.

Oh man! Oh man this is one of my favorite animes as a major car guy and this is one of the things that got me into cars. I'm talking. I'm in car teams. I'm building my infiniti car shows the whole nine yards. I owe it all pretty much to this anime. A few other things of course, but this was a major factor and it's so good. The story is so good. I know you don't see the story in the intros, but it's great story as someone is already pointed out above me. I don't actually know anybody that I've watched react to this and it would be awesome if you'd be the first one. I know you have nothing to do with cars and it may seem weird you but it's just it's a great anime

As you are someone who is diving into anime, there is one genre that is almost always guaranteed to be good. Thats sports animes. The more obscure the sport the better it is.
I'd recommend since a lot of reaction channels have not watched Initial D that you might put this on your list. The OPs you reacted to are a small drop in the bucket for the overall sound track of this show. This show's racing songs are what meme legends use. This show has family life, romance, and sports rivalry. Also even if you do not like motorsports that much you might change by the end of watching this show. Its literally a world changing show as its the primary reason that drifting and classic Japanese sports cars became so popular in the West (though the EU did get a lot of these cars the US missed out and became things of legend).

This is a drifting anime. THE drifting anime. The first season aired in 95. The main character is Takumi who drives a white Toyota Corolla Trueno (AE86 - also just called "hachiroku" in Japanese for "86"), delivering tofu from his father's store. He does so by...well, driving everywhere and thus becoming quite good at drifting around mountainous, winding roads. One things leads to another and he catches the eye of some "pro" (read: illegal) drifters and the series is basically about him competing with them :D
Japanese racing/drifting legend Keiichi Tsuchiya actually inspired the series, he also drove an AE86 and helped with editorial supervision of the anime! The series single-handedly drove up the price of the AE86 and it's now pretty much a cultural icon in Japan. I was lucky to see one in a random parking lot somewhere on the outskirts of Tokyo on an evening walk last year. Whenever I've shown that photo to Japanese people, they'd get super hyped haha.
