This episode I had to pause too many times because I was too emotional to continue. Being a veteran I related with some aspects of this and just hit me so hard. Love this anime so much in how they are able to portray how terrible war is.

I might've not had the same experience as them, but losing your friends, that's something you never get over. (I lost one to cancer and one to suicide. It's been years, but it still hurts, because I don't have any blood family left so I value friendship and bonds over blood. I'm lucky that I've found new friends and it's like the friends that I lost sent them to me.) Oh! The mark Levi gave the guy wasn't Ivan's. It was Petra's. And that goes to show how much he truly cares about his soldiers.
