Chapter 160

Dei stared down at the small pool of blood, frowning.

‘I was too slow,’ he thought with shame, ‘While I was relaxing and spending time with family, people were dying.’

He’d just finished giving his family some powerful artifacts to make their time on Earth easier when Luke got a call. There was an incident in the magical facility he’d helped cure his first time around.

Invisible monsters attacked the front entrance, drawing the attention o...

Chapter 159

POV: Jacob Smith

It’d been weeks since that Visitor, Dei, had cured all the Elites in the facility, but Jacob was still left waiting after the Karma-boy cursed him. Two weeks ago, the Elite dying to his own Karma affinity grabbed his wrist, shouted “Survive,” then passed out.

He wanted to pull his own hair out as the suspense killed him, but he had no idea what to do. He was a normal guy, who’d been touched by some weird power that would ...

“Luke, I know this may seem a bit out of left field to you, but I have something to request of you in return for creating Convergences down in Agartha.”

“Yea, of course! Anything!” he responded enthusiastically, still riding the high of getting an amazing deal out of Perumah.

Dei winced, “You may want to temper your expectations, because this one is a little… cruel.”

He looked pensive, cleared his throat, and donned a more serious expression. “What do you nee...

Dei briefly thought back to what he’d agreed upon.

‘Let’s see… honestly not much. All I said was to ensure my family was safe and give me some information on Reality Beings, and that’s it.’

Dei looked at him curiously, “A fair bit? I believe all I needed was some information. Was there more?”

“I’m so glad you asked, because yes, there is! But- hold on a moment, I need to run to my car to get everything, I’ll be right back.”

Chapter 156

Authors note: some of you may have noticed, but after I fixed the Skills in the last chapter I also added a final look at Dei's full interface. It was in there originally, but I decided to get rid of it when I released the last chapter after I saw that I'd messed up the Skills because I didn't want to have to edit EVEN MORE of the chapter, so I got rid of any of the "unsure" stuff.

Basically, fixed it again and went into more detail! There is also a description for Divine Balance now. View Post

155 correction

Some of you may've noticed that the Skills in 153 and 155 didn't quite line up with how they were discussed, which I DID notice yesterday before the chapter release. The only issue was that I noticed it AS I was publishing the chapter, and I had to leave immediately afterwards cause I had a busy day XD I've corrected both chapters now, which doesn't change much, but the second to last Skill is different now. Thanks for ya patience!

Chapter 155

They chatted for around an hour, and Dei started to learn that there were a good few “Constants” with how one could earn Achievements, one of the most common ways being to interact with Primordial Children in general. Dei had a lot of run ins with The Mother and The Champion, but Ms. Letia fought Titans and interacted with The Champion.

“Past a certain point of strength, The Champion will always find a way to introduce himself, especially if you’re on the anchor world of a unive...

He’d met up with Inyuden shortly before his meeting with all the people who wanted to see if he actually had a Mythic Profession. Because Inyuden, or Captain Toria, was responsible for safeguarding the knowledge of the quarantine. Dei’s plan involved partially telling people about the quarantine and luring more people in there, but he seemed to have forgotten that it wasn’t public knowledge. Universe travel in general was only known to the upper-middle class, but knowl...

The first thing he tried was to read up on all the Challenge Convergences- or Challenge Dungeons as some called them- and what they might entail. He chose one of the shortest, which took people around two years to complete, and got information on its exact contents.

Once you knew about what was in a Challenge Dungeon, you couldn’t take it, part of the experience was going in blind. Still, he wanted to get a feel for if he might be able to speed through them.

The places to visit were… extensive. There were many things he could do to build power, but most of them took months or years to get the proper use out of. For example, there were some dungeon-like things that’d evolved from the Challenge Convergences, where if he completed it then he’d get a boon.

The issue was that on avera...

It’d taken some time, but he eventually figured a way to shrink himself. He couldn’t exactly fill his organs with faith, but he could line them with it. During the time moving the faith around his body, he felt a perpetual low-level pain from the faith repeatedly cutting into him, then the wounds rehealing.

He lined the outside of his respiratory and gastrointestinal systems with a porous layer of faith, essentially creating thousands of tiny chokepoints for blood to go in ...

Once the people had calmed down, they started rallying together in smaller groups and appointing leaders, pooling their Gods’ resources and whatnot. His inventory would be locked off until Wild Chains was clear again, but that was fine. He could wait.

Right now, he decided it was high time to do something he’d never gotten a chance to- send a message to his Avium mother.

He’d originally feared it wouldn’t be possible, but Luke from the Church of The Champion had told him that affinity planes were all connected. Since that’s the medium he sent messages through using [Meaningful], there was n...

Slight retroactive change

With Royal Road starting to catch up with Patreon, I've been thinking on my early book 2 chapters and decided to change something slightly.

There were a lot of complaints from people around chapter 120 of how Dei left Taj and Emily alone/without exacting revenge immediately, so I've decided to add a bit more justification for that decision.

Now, I've made it so that in 120, a second Rule of Wrath is revealed when he comes to the decision to "let his grudge go" in order to better e...

Ideas for what he's gonna buy?

I've got a plan in mind for what Dei is going to use his faith for, but what do YALL want to see him do with it? I've talked about it a bit, but at least some of it will go towards buying things in the universe he's now in. Is there anything specific you would want to see him buy/inquire about?

Floating above the glowing scale-slash-egg, they all got into their positions and readied whatever defensive spells they had, as they weren’t completely sure The Mother would go down without a fight. Wild Chains had always been fast, but it was only now that he had changing terrain and an open sky that he could see just how fast.

The world rapidly shifted below him in a blur, and Dei was once more struck with the question of how The Mother knew all of this. He’d always known she stored an entire world in her brain, one...

Hesitantly standing up, he looked around to all the other stunned Lunar Spawn, what few were still alive.

He’d already known that he would be entering calamitous memories, that was just the nature of traveling through the layers. Each stop would be something significant to a God. Still, he should’ve been better prepared for appearing in the dead center of such an event.

Rubbing his temples, he asked Perumah “Did you get anything from his memories?”

Dei heard things through the wall, barely able to discern the intent behind words. Things were screamed, arguments were raised, and one person in particular felt more cornered. The nine sharks circled him as he fended for himself, but it seemed a foregone conclusion. Despite the image he held, Dei felt no pity for the one circled. He’d gambled his life, and lost.

The scene shifted, the words heard through the wall came through slightly louder, the barrier just slightly thinner. He hea...

The contract was more tangible than any she’d ever seen, utilizing Vy’Vex’s unique connection with Abstinence to anchor it. Vy’Vex said that affinities did not truly exist in the Realm of the Mother, but her idea of them gave the concept power so… they kind of existed not as an affinity or domain, but the bare message the original Ascenders were trying to convey. That was different somehow, but Vy’Vex waved her off when she asked for a further explanation.

Chapter 140

Zyz’Ti was the closest thing to a modern monster Perumah had seen so far. The Lunar Spawn were puppets to The Mother’s will, and Sapients had far too many emotions to qualify. Monsters were limited in their thinking, narrowed to fit a single niche with only the emotions to match that one niche. Zyz’Ti fit the bill.

The hunger was not a simple desire to eat, either. No, it was a complex, layered thing. The main portion was a desire to eat, though it was focused heavily on blood. Ly...

Perumah had stayed atop Wild Chains to keep watch, yet still she failed. With her hitching a ride on his soul to enter The Mother, she’d also seen the gargantuan corpse of the supposedly living Primordial Child through Dei’s eyes at the same moment he did.

‘Why couldn’t I see her intent?’

There had been no response from The Mother, no flicker of her emotions at Dei’s approach. Not until the very moment she decided to act. Until that point, she was all but invi...

Bit of a silly on my part

Hello all! In chapters 120 and 137, I accidentally used the affinity Hope, as I'd forgotten that I REMOVED that affinity from the lore and replaced it with Faith instead. The two affinities are functionally almost identical except for the fact that Faith uses ones current willpower to exert their view on the world, while Hope uses ones future willpower to do so.

I just wanted to say that I've now edited the chapters and turned it into the Faith affinity instead, and cl...

Dei drove them through the desert on his Leviathan, finding the defenses rather… lacking.

He saw some Lunar Spawn down in the sand, each one firing off a ball of green goo that somehow tracked their flight, but they weren’t really threatening. The attacks fell short, the enemies had incredibly slow reaction time, and they didn’t even try to coordinate with one another.

He’d been warned about this by The Champion, as The Mother had already been dealt two soul attacks when s...

‘I RULE SUPREME ONCE MORE!’ Daniel thought, confusing himself for a moment as he shifted between his human persona and The Mother he piloted.

They were in the Realm of Dreams, the collective unconscious. In the Physical world, The Mother was only a God. In the Realm of Dreams? She was the maker of reality itself. She could not be beat.

And Daniel now wielded that power for himself.

True, the being before him somehow managed to drag its true body into his realm, ...

The pseudo-interrogation afterwards was immediate and thorough. He told them truthfully that he didn’t help Boris escape, the man just fled on his own.
