Roadmap for Act 3 - and Q&A answers!

Comments

A year is nothing! Please take your time and release whenever you can. You've done such a lovely and wonderful job so far, it's no trouble at all to wait :)

imo waiting a year is ok, I'd rather have the full content all at once, playing in 1h increments sucks (i do it with other projects and i hate it). But that's me. LOVE the game, hope it does better for you, you deserve it.

Sad that a game like this which is better in more aspects than so many others isn't doing that well. But at the same time I always thought it was weird that I never saw the game advertised or barely any shout out posts from other projects. I see parasite black every once in awhile but I can't remember hlp at all

Hi! It's a shame that Her Last Piece hasn't done as well as you hoped thus far, but it's really encouraging that you all are going to see it through to the end. I don't mind waiting for the total pack and I don't mind the idea of smaller release chunks. That being said I think if you guys wait a year to release ACT 3 people may move on or forget about the game, which would be a real shame. On the other hand, you mentioned Vaygren, and I have heard anything from them in a long time, I wonder what's going on because they promised the next episode or whatever a long time ago, but they haven't released it. It's a bummer, but that project is exciting in it's own way so I personally don't mind waiting. It's the same for this game. Most people voting for Act 2 to be delayed a while back also indicates that most of our community is pretty patient. Maybe asking us to wait the full year wouldn't be so bad for us, but I suspect it would have a negative impact on the visibility of the game to new people who might discover it, so if small chunk updates keeps the game visible on steam then maybe that's best. I have a couple more thoughts as well. The first being that I'm glad you're sticking with your art style and not really bringing someone else in or shifting to AI generation. The art of Her Last Piece is so much part of what gives the game its identity and uniqueness, so any mixing of styles I think also impacts the reception of the story. In that regard, I'm glad you're just working patiently with AuxilaryOut. Finally, from the story to the artwork to the sound design, you guys have created such a wonderful VN experience. Sometimes doing things right takes more time than we like, but for this game, I think it's appropriate. There are other games out there such as Countess in Crimson and Seeds of Chaos and Venture Seas that have taken years and years to complete. I think the developers probably feel the pressure, but the community seems to be hanging around, and I hope people here will too.

Only a year? That's it? There are h-games and visual novels that have been in development for 5+ years. Take your time; I don't mind a wait and/or releasing act 3 in parts.

I play a lot of AVNs that are WIP, so I'm used to waiting for updates, and playing parts. IMO, the best version here would be to release the finished parts of the update as you can. While that does mean fewer releases, it means the releases we do get are finished and matching the existing SUPERB quality of the game we have. I'm sad with you this game isn't doing as well financially as it really should. It's a masterpiece and deserves to be rewarded.

Hi! I’ve specifically purchased the game on Steam to support you guys, haven’t played a lot yet. I want to thank you all for the transparency. Personally, I would be ok with a schedule that allows the artist to cover their livelihood, while the game will maintain its original vision. Any other option from a practical and artistic point of view would not work. Thanks again and good luck <3
