To Avoid Turning my Room Into an Oven...
Added 2024-07-17 21:01:32 +0000 UTC... I've avoided firing up the 3090 to do anything intense. I noticed that if I try to do anything AI-related the heat just spills out. I stuck a floor fan right in front of it to push the heat out from under the desk but it still heats the room quite quickly. The AC unit really can't keep up, and with side cranked windows, it's hard to find any replacement until less than $1000. I have a rather sad setup with plywood in the window and 3D printed clamps. Works well enough with weather stripping and keeps bugs out too. My AC unit is quite old (2013 I think) there's probably little refrigerant in it and you cannot fill it without expensive modification.
I said last summer that I should replace it, and was going to buy a new unit when the old stock went on sale. I like to avoid paying retail.
In the meantime, I've been going through my HDD again, hoping to clean it up and organize it more. I know there's lots of items that should be posted here but I keep forgetting about them, or where they were put, or even having a proper filename for them.
