The MMC crew introduction can be rough and abrasive just given the whole motivations presented of "war war war". However being a vet I can say they did a pretty damn good job with the ribbing marines/soldiers give each other only to still be united in the main goal in the end.
Can't wait to catch up with you all as I've only jus subbed recently. This is probably I don't know how many rewatches for me at this point but I enjoy watching Reactor's journeys from "ah..the show is okay in S1 to OMFG this show by time they finish"
Typically S2 and especially S3 is when the show takes a full hold of most and when The Expanse shows you what it's really all about!

This is MY first watch too.
Also not a fan of the hot-head Martian Marine. I can kinda get that she is a cardboard cutout with an obvious reversal of character coming later, but I'm not going to enjoy an arc that I'm not on board with until later when she obviously finally mellows out.
It also feels like the Rocinante's story is over. Yes they are the initial point of view characters so they are going to get reinjected into the main story somehow, but I don't see how they are going to organically achieve that now that the main thread appears to be higher level politics that our original characters are no longer in the middle of. I'm not convinced the 'mystery' that the crew hold a few details for matters in the grand scheme of things.
The idea that Mars can't have peace until it has wars is neat because that's always been my joking position as well - That the sooner we colonize mars the sooner we can have the Earth-Mars interplanetary war, and the sooner we get that behind us the sooner we can make real progress in space. It's such a trope that it almost feels pre-destined and I'm thrilled this series has leaned into that.
Indian politics lady is becoming my favorite character. Once you just accept that everything out of her mouth is going to be a lie and you have to judge her by what she does and not what she says she becomes way more interesting - which also happens to a line of her own in this episode, which was particularly good writing. The writers decided to have her tattle on herself with that and as far as winks go, that was a well crafted one. Unless I'm reading too much into it.

I love how Alex recognises how much he was burned in season one by apparently one-note characters who develop into favourites and reserves judgement- he has an arc of his own lol!

Sneaky, sneaky Ashur was easily my favourite character in Spartacus, even with John Hannah munching the scenery to shreds every week!

If you watch Star Trek closely they mention the inertial dampeners periodically these are the magic devices that keep starfleet personnel alive when traveling at warp, and not allowing them to be smashed into a stain on the nearest wall behind them.
The expanse address’s inertia and gravitational forces accurately and almost like they are functional character of the show.

You got lucky last season I viewed these way behind, life has been real busy these last few months. However, like a bad penny I always turn up. The books were written in advance of the series by two or three years. And they are followed very closely. This season continues the last of the first book. +

Spartacus is definitely one they should check out if they haven't seen it already. The season one finale has to be one of the best hours of TV ever.

Came here to heap praise for Hugh Dillon. He had a stint in a procedural cop show, Flashpoint (which includes the actress who played the Pink Power Ranger, too), but he is a hard nosed rocker to the core. 🇨🇦

The lasagna scene made Alex one of my favourite characters. We started to see there that he's not just the pilot, he's the glue holding the crew together.
Also the guy who plays the spy Avasarala went to see, Nick Tarabay, played this great antagonist character in the Starz Spartacus series. He's a solid actor.

As a note, Chrisjen is one of the Deputy Undersecretaries in the UN administration. Errinwright is the Undersecretary of Executive Administration, which makes him more or less #2 in the Earth government. Chrisjen is effectively #3, directly subordinate to Errinwright.

Earth is governed by the United Nations. It's a single state, just like Mars. The people at the round table were upper level cabinet ministers, including the Secretary General, who is Earth's head of state. The guys in the blue uniforms are United Nations Navy. Green uniforms, United Nations Marine Corps. Sgt Draper and her fire team are Martian Marine Corps. Martians in black uniforms are Mars Congressional Republic Navy. Navy operates ships. Marines get off the ships and focus violence on things on the ground. Or in boarding actions, ship to ship.

The actor who plays the Martian lieutenant has been in a bunch of stuff, but he's probably best known as the lead singer of a Canadian punk-ish band called The Headstones.

I've been waiting for s2 as well. The Expanse is probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite sci-fi series of all time after SG-1 and maybe DS9. I love the reactions and insight of these gentlemen as well as the excuse to watch the series again.
