PATREON EXCLUSIVE - Troi Episode Ideas & Day in the Life Episodes (S4E10&11)

Comments

First video back after 6 months you’ll need to do a “last time on target audience” montage with the last clip of the montage being “shoot him” - fade to black “and now the continuation”

LonghillAndy

The Loss was the first episode of TNG that I saw. Didn't know any one of them or something to compare it with. So me it was an interesting story so far that it hooked me up for ST for ever.ot always had a soft spot in my heart ❤️

Bkita

Yeah, I made a similar comment about that somewhere in here, it gets me excited knowing they will get what they want down the line

Can't really comment much without risking spoiling. But...

Greg Quinn

There are good Troi episodes coming up in seasons 6 & 7.

Ron Hubbard Jr

I think a good Troi episode was The Tin Man. She didn’t even play as much a role as Data in that one.

Geoffrey Linehan

Maaaaannn a day I Troi’s life would be amazing, you hear a voice over from Riker, to express the feeling in tv way, being a total creep lol

Sixto

Perfect answer lol

Captain Proton

A Worf slice of life episode is a great idea!

Captain Proton

LOL!!!

Jovet

Yes we are going to take 6 months off

Josh (Target Audience)

9:30 they call for security and Michael Dorn shows up...

Max Yoder

Completing S4E15 is going to be half-way through TNG. Are you two planning to recognize that milestone?

Jovet

There is a very fine line, for me, between "I think ___ would be a good idea" and "This should have been written _______ way".

Jovet

Does anyone else absolutely adore how many “I wish we could see X” predictions the lads make that we know exists in later episodes, or even other Trek series? They can self-proclaim their supposed stupidity all they want, but Josh and Alex get Trek, specifically what makes good Trek writing.

Ross Townsend

They seem to be rewarching to the Nth degree, especially Alex, I think they're hooked Peeps! 😎

James Knight

That's where my favourite Troi episode kicks in, she isn't "Super" per se, but she works the problem.

James Knight

This is why an episode made me tolerant of Deanna, but TA may have to feel my pain and wait for that relief. XD It's coming peeps, hang in there 😎

James Knight

Deanna Troi was 1 of my least favorite 3 characters when TNG began. Beginning in season 2, I began to warm up to her, but the part that still always bugged me was her always saying "I sense ..." and she's thousands of miles away, looking on someone on a viewscreen. I suppose she could be just reading body language, but I always took it as using her empathic abilities, which did not work for me given those parameters.

Collin Freeman

I am amazed how many times you guys talk about what you want to see and I know somewhere down the the line in Star Trek you’re going to get it, sometimes exactly what you want to see. There is so many excellent episodes ahead in every show that you will love. What a journey!

marty63026

0:09 I agree Alex 100%.

7:45 Well, if you get around the The Orville, You're going to be pleasantly surprised about the plot of one of the episodes. Troi's issue is she doesn't really work that well in the Sc-Fi part of the plot, but works fine as a character plot; To explain, if you have a security related Sc-Fi or Klingon related plot, Worf is central character, Engineering, Geordi is central character. Troi overlaps with Crusher as medical, and her ongoing role as ships counselor is a more long term medical thing, so less exciting in the moment parts. They do use her a lot better during later seasons, and has some actually good episodes. Though I will never forgive her for being the entry point to the series for the Nails on the chalkboard that is Luxwanna Troi.

Thomas Cole

The problem with Troi is she’s a superhero, yet they rarely write her like one. Same issue with Geordi.

It’s interesting to rewatch because sometimes - like O’Brien - they get a more gradual character build, and you didn’t realise first time around how that nurse or this bridge crew member had actually been there for a while. I hope the guys find time in a year or two to watch some episodes again, because they work remarkably well for repeat watching when you know the plot but can take in the set, the supporting cast and the odd Easter egg.

Paul Rymer

This series structure also allows for background characters to become familiar, like the Transporter Chief the guys have noticed that isn't O'Brien and doesn't have a name.

James Knight

I’m biased, liked Troi from the start and would now consider myself a fan of Marina Sirtis, having seen her in several roles that are nothing at all like Troi, and also her convention appearances which are always entertaining. I am pleased to say that by the end of TNG I got to see nearly everything I wanted from Troi and a lot more I did not expect. No spoilers, the beauty of 7 seasons of around 25 episodes is that it enabled the opportunity for the writers to explore all of the main cast and also the supporting cast. Nobody gets shortchanged in my view; most are ensemble episodes but now and then there’s a “Troi” episode where the character is the lead. Most of all though, it’s how the whole cast complements each other which is the key to TNG.
