Available to ALL Patrons!

This series is from what I can tell non-existent on streaming in the US, so we understand many will have to wait for the YouTube edits, but if you’re interested in watching it with us the box set we are watching is available on Amazon for $18 - HERE

UNCUT - Night Gallery - The Cemetery (Pilot)

Comments

I have never seen anything from this show until today, unless you want to count the Simpsons parody in the '90s. Decided to buy the DVD set just to watch along with you guys, and I have to say I really enjoyed this!

Forbidden Donut

I never watched this show growing up but I always loved the three-story pilot, which included the famous Joan Crawford section directed by a particularly famous director. I just purchased the first season (with the pilot) on Blu-ray so I can enjoy this with you guys' commentary.

David Wayne Fox

watching it again, I am convinced they did like one or 2 painting and painted additions on acetate and overlayed it on the Cemetary painting, like cel animation.

Mike Rogers

$80 then is worth about 680 now so not bad really

AzoriusMage

Yeah it’s bizarre but so we’re the 70’s. They had Serling record some new intros, even for the unrelated Sixth Sense episodes. That’s how I remember seeing it for the first time in syndication. They did something similar to the Planet of the Apes tv show but the opposite. They re-edited the hour long episodes into tv movies by combining 2 episodes together, awful. They also had Roddy McDowell back in ape makeup to introduce and wrap up the ‘movies’, terrible

Yeah, so I did a little digging after I found it 'cause it's such an odd channel. Apparently for the past few years (from old forum threads I read) that channel comes and goes - when it goes, another channel called 'movie time' or something pops up, and then around it goes. From what I gleaned, they're probably skirting copyrights, so when the heats on the channel disappears and the other pops up in its place. So watch while the watchings good I guess!

Mushroom-Bagel-Bites

Just added that channel. Holy Cow! It has so much. Thanks for mentioning it.

Michael Figueroa

Oh, is that why it turned into that ESP guy's show sort of? During covid I started to watch it on a streaming service (it didn't include the pilot - which I hadn't seen since it first aired) and the first many episodes were good. Then it turned into that Dr.? dude and his side chick and everything was all like a really bad sci-fi show. I stopped watching. (From what I recall, it used the cheezy '70s scores that used to hurt my ears, too.)

Night Gallery had an intereesting history there is a good doc on it on the disks. It started out as an Hour long anthology with multiple episodes of multiple lengths within that hour, when it was put into syndication they made it a 30 min show, shifted pieces around and padded out the series by incorporating a totally different series into it, it was a mess. The DVD set is still somewhat a mess the Kino Lorber Blu rays are the set to get. Like most anthology the qulity of the shows ar vry hit and miss

Scarpad’s Domain

Then I'll have to check it out.

Owen Madden

It’s not good but it’s awesome

Josh (Target Audience)

I think it would be a hoot if they reacted to Mommie Dearest someday. Not a Crawford fan but I love that movie.

Michael Figueroa

Haven't seen that one.

Owen Madden

I do believe are correct! LOL!

Owen Madden

Agree - and both of those episodes have TOS connections: "Death on a Barge" was Leonard Nimoy's directorial debut, and "They're Tearing Down Tim Riley's Bar" stars William Windom (Commodore Decker from The Doomsday Machine)

Gaius Frakking Baltar

Wow, I actually remember this. I was 8yo. It was a big deal to Mom & Dad that Rod Sterling had a new program, so me and my older siblings got to watch it, too. A really good scare! Night Gallery was always a 'family night must watch.' BTW, I did a search on my Roku and found it *Free* with no signup/in on "Cinema Box." (edited to take out a question you answered in the last 30 secs of your video, lol)

Mushroom-Bagel-Bites

Surprisingly, I love Married with Children & Futurama I just didn’t know the actress’s name. My favorite role of hers though is SMART HOUSE! 🔥

Josh (Target Audience)

I do believe Don Siegal directed Dirty Harry, not Boris Sagal.

Collin Freeman

Cant recall the title, but Caesar Romero (The Joker) plays Dracula in one of the sillier segments.

Owen Madden

Thanks for the spell correction. I just wasn't up to looking it up LOL! Forgot about SOA. The guys will probably be more familiar with that than MWC.

Owen Madden

Katey Sagal. Played Peg Bundy in "Married... with Children" Was also a main character in "Sons of Anarchy," the mom in "8 Simple Rules for Dating my Teenage Daughter" and the voice of Leela in "Futurama," which if you have not seen would make a good reaction series after Trek.

Nolan

WHO

Josh (Target Audience)

Boris Segall is Peg Bundy's dad. He also directed "Dirty Harry" "The Omega Man" & many, many other film & TV projects up thru at least the early 80s.

Owen Madden

"The Dark Boy" is an excellent episode.

Owen Madden

Wal*Mart sells it in store for 19.97.

Owen Madden

Good to see you do this show. I'm old enough to remember when it first aired. It was always one of those things we kids talked about at school. I have the entire series on DVD, but I'm afraid it hasn't held up too well over time. Still, there's some real gems to discover, if you're willing to wade through all the junk. Enjoy!

Jim J

I absolutely love this show, even the sillier bits. I think you guys are in for a great time.

Paul O'Neal

Episodes of Night Gallery I would recommend you watch are "Death on a Barge" from season 3 and "They're Tearing Down Tim Riley's Bar" from season 1.

Collin Freeman

Whatever happened to baby Jane is a great horror/thriller starring Joan Crawford that would fit the Horror Gallery

marty63026

I don't have it at my fingertips but I have seen it. Terrific pilot. Edit additional: I just placed a hold for it at the library. People in other areas might want to check if the library has a copy if they want to see it.

Mike Rogers

This is the first I've ever heard about this show. Speaking as someone who has seen very little of the original Twilight Zone, maybe 4 episodes tops, I thought this was pretty cool.

Skullman8942

Joan Crawford is one of my all time favorites, and if the guys ever step outside the box and watch “Johnny Guitar” (the 1950’s female led western that’s also a metaphor for Mcarthy’s “red scare” and feminism) with feuding co-stars Crawford and Mercedes Mccambridge, it would be a treat to see their reaction.

Glenn Johnson Barnes

I’m guessing because the first 3 “episodes” are actually part of the original pilot movie. The movie is available on a couple of obscure streamers, but the resolution is very poor quality (at least on the one I saw several months ago).

Glenn Johnson Barnes

Yeah, I checked Amazon for Hogan's Heroes and saw that it was missing several episodes. So I just decided to buy the box set from eBay so I wouldn't be missing anything.

wildhunt1973

It’s probably a rights issue. There’s a similar thing that happened to Galactica 1980, the first two episodes are not on the blu ray release.

marty63026

The Night Gallery is available on AppleTV+, but apparently not the pilot. The first episode AppleTV+ has is The Housekeeper. Ugh.

wildhunt1973

Woot!! Love the discussion, I knew you guys would love this. The next segment is really cool with an up and coming director that you’ll recognize. Joan Crawford was a very famous movie star who’s daughter wrote a tell all book in the late 70’s claiming Joan Crawford was abusing her kids. They made a movie out of it called Mommy Dearest which is great.

marty63026

All I recall from this first ep is Roddy saying, "Portifoy? Portifoy!" The show has some stellar eps throughout (and more than a few stinkers). Hopefully y'all dig it enough to keep parusing the gallery.
