Caught up, I’m’m ready for Innerspace. Look forward to joining you guys for season 2 I don’t want to miss an episode from now on.

Yes that was a great choice instead of another cocky remark

AzoriusMage

True. For the time, those specials effects were cutting edge, and they did things with CGI that couldn't be done with models. Even DS9 had to finally give up and go over to full-blown CGI after five seasons of using models. Nowadays, yeah, they look pretty primitive., especially some of the early starfury vs raider sequences.

John

Yeah, I do love Babylon 5 almost as much as BSG, but it takes a while to get going. The other big issue for modern viewers is the bad CGI Babylon 5 has, especially early on. It could really use a Star Trek treatment of redone VFX to avoid people shutting it off and not giving it a chance just because of the 90's CGI. I haven't really rewatched it for at least 15 years because I've been holding out hoping that they'll do a version with updated visual effects.

Michael Ducharme

You got that right!

Collin Freeman

please do season 2!

David Marcoot

the music on this episode is breathtaking

David Marcoot

But ambu-jiitsu magically resolves all daddy issues!

John

"I thought we were just sparring." "That's why you don't win." *"I don't believe it." "That is why you fail."

John

Babylon 5 is definitely one of those. Basically the top 10 episodes of the first season are in the final 11 episodes.

John

Not really no. Like in the context of the show…its the literal end of the world and they have 50k left…there is going to have to be a LOT of adapting to new realities and probably even cousins breeding etc and things that would just never happen regularly before the apocalypse In our world, there is no regulation or law I am aware of the prevents the President or VP from being in a romantic relationship with a serving member of the military. It’s obviously a different dynamic but we often see close family members of heads of state in the armed forces. Biden’s son UK Royal family has most of the sons and grandsons serve, many in combat even.

Derek Orr

Either way, still a HUGE conflict of interest, no?

Nolan

Echoing the others here that I sure hope you keep going with Seasons 2+. It's been really great rewatching along with you, haven't seen these since they aired. Let us know of there's something we can do to help make your decision!

Guillaume Bergeron

What is this word or concept you speak of?…stop …BSG 😜

Derek Orr

Oh man if they dont there will be riots!:)

Derek Orr

Umm ya no. Their political and military system is obviously quite heavily influenced by USA. The president is the commander in chief and their is a vice president as well of course. They are 1,000% absolutely civilian positions. The president and vice president are NOT military officers. Civilian command and control of the military is fundamentally critical aspect of a democracy. The president is the elected head of government to represent the people…the people are in command of the military and their elected head does not wear a uniform.

Derek Orr

The Adamas sparring is WAY BETTER than anbo-jitsu

Evan Guthrie

An episode of setups An episode of payoffs This has all happened before, this will all happen again

#MaxwellDidNothingWrong

Another great reaction guys! Looking forward to hearing what you think about part 2 and so hoping the viewer response and your enjoyment has been enough to carry you into season 2 because it genuinely only gets better from here on!

Jon Reid

BSG isn’t perfect, but they do really good season finales every season. One if the big criticisms of Star Trek is that characters are static season to season. BSG does a really good job of changing the status quo and characters motivations or at least progressing them. Hoping you stick with it!

EnigmaticPenguin

One of my favorite moments of the episode was Starbuck responding to Apollo with “yes sir” instead of her usual sarcastic remark. Stuff like that makes the world feel real.

Josh (Target Audience)

Yes, that is correct, I stopped somewhere in season 3. If they continue, we’ll see how far I make it.

Collin Freeman

Regarding Lee getting on Kara's case: 100% he's feeling jealous. But during his diatribe he mentions a Major she slept with, someone of a superior rank. Why is that relevant? Because Baltar is now the Vice-President and thus, part of the military hierarchy. President's are Commanders-in-chief of the military, they hold military power. As do their Vice-Presidents. Baltar is now part of the military structure and outranks Starbuck. And as we know from Boomer and the Chief, such a relationship is both against regulations and one with a power imbalance. And Lee, as Kara's commanding officer, is in charge of disciplining her when she disobeys orders and regulations. But that's not really why he's mad at her, just how he's justifying it. It's cause he's jealous.... Except, Kara having a power imbalance within a relationship in the military is also what she had with his brother Zak. She was her instructor, he her student. And what happened? Her against regulations relationship blinded her to her duty and led to Zak's death. Something Apollo only found out about less than 2 months ago. So he's jealous, he's mad about Zak and he's her superior officer who has to discipline his screw-up underling. Veeery nuanced scene. It's like an ogre. And then there's William Adama. Way back at the start, he put his trust in Roslin to keep his secret about Earth and to let him control military matters. In this episode, Roslin betrays his trust by telling Starbuck the truth, and going over his head on a military decision. That's betrayal 1. Then Starbuck questions him, goes against her duty and the relationship they have and sides with the President. That's Betrayal 2. Finally: "You do not take your hair-brained ideas to the XO without first going through me." Vs. "You do anonther end-run around me, I'll snap you back so fast you'll think you're a first year cadet." The echoes, the echoes.

Nolan

I seem to recall you mentioning that you gave up watching it the first time but are enjoying it more this time - am I remembering that right?

Michael Ducharme

This episode was full of little gems. The face on six after having watched them in bed really tells you a lot about her, and Boomer's scenes with Chief, Gaius and alone with the gun were great. Plus, the frantic scene on the raptor was well done. A lot happened to set up the next episode, which is a 10 out of 10.

Ken R

Heck yeah it does!

Chris L

I'm still crossing my fingers that you guys continue - the second season gets even better.

Michael Ducharme

Nice thing about not having seen this show in 19 years is everything old is new again. I've enjoyed these last few episodes, not knowing (remembering) most of what is going to happen. I feel like I'm right there with you guys. This is fun.

Collin Freeman

We didn’t look at the titles when we watched

Josh (Target Audience)

Okay, so this episode title does kinda spoil that it's a part 1, but since it's not a season ender, nor is it a huge twist ending, but more of a mid-way act break, I think that's okay.

Nolan

ok getting ready after a busy day to sit down for this one, your faces in the thumbnail are everything I had hoped to see.

Angelaina Marie

This is by far been like the craziest year of my life with necessary yet completely necessary trips to the hospital. I am woefully behind on watching BSG here, However, my current situation keeping me off my feet for the next 10 days I’m gonna get caught up soon Revisit this week
