When crying is considered a "best performance" lol Dorn did better with the material he was given imo. Seeing Pat Stew cry isn't that great an acting leap for me. But hey, what do I know, it's dominating the poll (that's what she said).

2024-08-13 20:33:47 +0000 UTCThere is no way I can sidestep Patrick Stewart performance in Sarek. It is simply some of the finest acting of the entire franchise. Though it is a super tough call when you put it next to Brent Spiner‘s performance in the offspring So my honorable mention is Brent Spiner and the offspring

2024-08-13 05:21:07 +0000 UTCI think you should have included JF for "Perspective " and the different and at times ridiculous ways he played Riker.

2024-08-13 00:20:37 +0000 UTCPatrick Stewart performance is what i consider best example of star trek, no special effects, no big space battle or set piece just a actor performing at their best in a empty room, trek at your best need nothing more

2024-08-12 21:09:19 +0000 UTCThis was tricky for me bc I love Brent to the Kuiper Belt. But I had to give this one to Stewart in Sarek. Brent will get his next season!

2024-08-12 20:51:29 +0000 UTCI mean, it's gotta be Patrick Stewart from Sarek. Picard's emotional breakdown could have been so overplayed or melodramatic, but Stewart plays it just right, portraying the fragile vulnerability of a man who has unwillingly lost emotional control. It makes you really feel for him and Sarek, giving the appropriate weight to the choice Picard made to mind meld with Sarek. It's also a good contrast to Picard losing control and getting angry at Riker earlier on in the episode. Shout-out though to Stewart's performance in Yesterday's Enterprise as well for playing a Picard that is completely recognizable, but also just different enough that we can understand how the alternate timeline has changed him.

2024-08-12 19:23:16 +0000 UTCIn Sarek, they could do a 3 minute and 40 second monologue full of emotion and subtle nuance as a character goes from screaming in anger to breaking down in tears, with the camera close on the character's face and with only two cuts, because they had Patrick Stewart playing the role. I don't know if they used two cameras in that scene and did it all in one take or not, but I'm convinced they could have.

2024-08-12 18:30:01 +0000 UTCHis scene with Captain Garrett convincing her to go back in time to prevent the Federation-Klingon war is one of the great performances, but he was stellar throughout that episode. Still voting for Sarek though.

2024-08-12 17:56:20 +0000 UTCif a scene can bring a tear to my eye everytime for 3 decades, it has to be the best. Stewart's Sarek scene breaks me.

2024-08-12 17:50:27 +0000 UTCThis one is tough. Patrick Stewart I think had the best overall performance in Sarek, shook me to my core. But, in terms of how hard-hitting a scene was delivered, it'd have to be Brent Spinner, who brings this 34 year old man to tears every single time I see the end of Offspring.

2024-08-12 17:49:45 +0000 UTCHad to give it to Patrick Stewart for Sarek. It’s not just the mind-meld scene, I really enjoyed his interactions with the other cast in this episode, such as him talking to Riker and Troi near the start of the episode; how he considers her suggestion to chat to Perrin in a very real way. It’s all those little moments that give you a better sense of the characters.

2024-08-12 17:48:18 +0000 UTCStewart during the mind meld scene steals the season, never mind the show. It was intense and heartbreaking. Then again, there are four lights.

2024-08-12 17:47:13 +0000 UTCThese are all great performances, but I'm glad to see most everyone agrees that the standout performance of this Season is Patrick Stewart in Sarek.

2024-08-12 17:42:52 +0000 UTCSir Patrick is simply hands down the greatest actor in the entire Star Trek franchise! You need not look any further than his performances in “Sarek” and “Yesterday’s Enterprise” for proof of this! I’ve seen Emmys given to actors for lesser performances.

2024-08-12 17:14:08 +0000 UTCHonorable mention: Picard pretending to be Lwaxana's lover to get the Ferengi to give her back.

2024-08-12 17:03:26 +0000 UTCStewart made you believe you were actually watching Mark Lenard's Sarek character's anguish. If that isn't Best Performance material, I don't know what is.

2024-08-12 16:39:00 +0000 UTCThe level of emotion Picard shows in Sarek gets my vote, though YE Picard is great too

2024-08-12 16:38:54 +0000 UTCI know the correct answer here is PS in Sarek.. but imma give it to wartime Picard in YE. Sarek performance is moving, but YE performance gives the chills

2024-08-12 16:36:24 +0000 UTCI voted for Brent, even though Patrick’s performance in Sarek was great. I think having to perform as an emotionless android, yet somehow making the audience feel that emotion is an amazing feat.

2024-08-12 16:35:25 +0000 UTCStewart is Yesterday's Enterprise was outstanding as war warn Picard.

2024-08-12 16:34:29 +0000 UTCData trying to comprehend Lal and loss, and the fact you can sense that the crew expect him to grieve for Lal but him cheerfully reminding us that she's with him always? Damn, that's powerful even out of context of 'his hands moved so quickly' but I think it has to go to Patrick Stewart for the sheer range he showed in Sarek.
