UNCUT REACTION - Game of Thrones S1E8 - The Pointy End

UNCUT REACTION - Game of Thrones S1E8 - The Pointy End

Comments

I guess something to remember is Buffy season 1 was a midseason replacement thats vaguely aimed at high schoolers with a lot of promise and mostly monster of the week stuff. It wasn't till season 2 people were like "holy moly, this is really good" I could see how someone only seeing season 1 could think its just a kids show, as it and Angel definitely "grew" with its audience. I mean, season 1 and season 7 were so different, and there have been so many inferior copycats since that take the premise "attractive people in the real world who deal with hidden supernatural/weird stuff" but that lacked what made Buffy so great.

Amen.

First of all, I hope these do well enough on YouTube to continue. But secondly, even if they don't, I hope you will consider at least recording/releasing these uncut reactions here on Patreon for seasons 2-8. It's been fun re-watching the series with you guys.

Forbidden Donut

I have read them. And it still amazes me how they somehow manage to cram so much of it into a single season of television.

If the YouTube edits don’t bomb

A Giles reference? Buffy season 2 reactions incoming?

Jeff Cornell

Do you guys know when/how you will determine if you'll continue watching on here for season 2?

Cersei= The ruthless ambition

Ravens here are just like owls in Harry Potter, just not as smart or flexible. It's very reasonable that ravens could be trained to deliver messages over distances, and then each raven would be trained on one or two specific routes.

Don't forget that honor slap.

You should read the books. Your mind will be blown. The show is great, but it's just the surface of the intricate world the George RR Martin created.

Also, remember the times aren't like a normal show, things are shown in dramatic order, no necessarily chronological, and for narrative convenience, some episodes may depict events that take place over months. The "ravens" thing does allow them to have communication faster then would have been reasonable possible for this time setting.

Varys actually got the order of events wrong. The king left for the hunting trip before Ned's conversation with the queen so he couldn't have had any impact on his death, if she ordered to keep him drunk the order was given before the conversation, this is Varys' interpretation of what happened (or he wants Ned to believe this for whatever reason.)

I like the way they jump around to 46 different characters because it really adds to the sense this is a world with a ton of people, no one being more important than the other. If they cut out people then every week would be like TNG " this is a Jon episode" "Next week Arya learns a lesson in murder on a very special Game Of Thrones". Show me the world and how these various events all impact the story.

Robb was my first favorite character. At the time the audience was all about Tyrion while Robb wasn't really considered one of the stars, but he was a great character and Richard Madden played him perfectly.

Ken R

It blows my mind how many moving pieces there are, how many characters with unique personalities motivations and goals there are, and how much world building and history is established in just one damn season.

1:12:08 I think the word you want for Sansa is "pathetic" LOL!

Jovet

1:11:34 I think you mean: – Tyrion is the wit. – Jamie is the brawn. – Cersei is the cunning.

Please continue to watch GoT. Once you see the last few episodes I have a feeling Josh will want to keep going.

Clyde Frog

GoT always does a great job of building momentum towards it's finales

James Bottas

I really hope you guys continue with this series, it's been great fun to rewatch the show after having a handful of years to digest the ending.

Cameron Thacker

58:40 Julian Glover is fantastic.

Jovet

2:25 Yes, but her death was really near the end of the season, too.
