I could be wrong, but just from what I know about you guys this will definitely be an S tier. Anyway I think it is. 🙂👍

Many people including me consider this "Best of Both Worlds Part 3." A quiet episode where people just try to deal with their trauma; no wonder Gene Roddenberry didn't like the idea and tried to axe it. When had they previously had a "traumatic" episode and then had another episode exploring consequences? Remember when Tasha died and then... next episode, wacky time travel hijinx!

Ian Westcott

No world-saving high stakes. No high-tension space battles. No hyper-dimensional Trekspeak jargon. Lots of character development, a ton of dialog, and some solid acting chops. YOU GUYS ARE GONNA LOVE IT! I like this episode better than Beast of Both Worlds, even though ironically it couldn't exist without those two episodes. It really feels like a "part 3". Really addressing the mental trauma Picard would obviously be dealing with. Oddly enough, the muddy vineyard fight and aftermath seems to be either inspired by, or an homage to, John Wayne's The Quiet Man. Can't forget about Worf's mom and dad. Helena and Sergey Rozhenko are delightful. You can tell they love Worf. And the pride Sergey has in his adopted son for not only joining Starfleet like he did but to rise much higher in the ranks. We've seen Worf trying to connect with his Klingon heritage, but now we get see where he gets his tolerance and understanding of human society from. Oh, and Wesley did something ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

From memory, It's an A. but thinking back it's just a jealous brother episode, jealous of his brothers wife, jealous of his brothers son. What's the point of being a space fearing captain with no reward, when the downside is a hivemind labotamy? He could have just sat at home drinking wine and recieved the rewards a family grants him. Picard's a fool and a bad captain, he should have just stuck to jerking off to antiques.

Captain’s Log

Beginning of the episode "character episode … understandable after these last two big budget episodes." Middle of episode "Kind of B tier but not awful." End of episode " Two old guys fighting. This just went to D tier." Picard's emotional gut punch breakdown "Patrick Stewart is the G.O.A.T. S TEIR!" Wesley seeing his fathers hologram message " No tears left for you, wasted them on Picard earlier. Sorry."

This_Guy_Again

Definitely one of my favorite episodes of the series. Adds weight to all that occurred in not only BoBW's, but also other characters emotional baggage that came before. It's onward to the end from here!

Stephen Wright

False, Lore is not in this episode (joking)

Eric Wilson

Instant skip tier.

LudicDave

Family is actually my favorite episode of any Star Trek series. One tear jerk moment after another.

Shannon Mullins

the final touch in fully rounding out and humanizing Picard's character.

penoyer79

I just rewatched this as I felt it deserved my undivided attention. I'll rewatch it with you. Moved to tears several times.

Gavin Scott

S-Tier? This episode is top ten FOR THE SERIES. (Written by YOU GUESSED IT - Ronald D Moore!)

Matt Newmark

I love this episode, the character building is superb. The writing and acting are grade S. I love lore, and this episode has it.

Shatner's Toupee

It was so hard to wait for the part 2 of BOBW, I was buying Blag, very poor quality video tapes at comic conventions to catch up on episodes, because we were so far behind the release dates in the UK. Just couldn't wait to see what was coming next.

Robert Bruce

More like the Worst of Both Worlds.

Robert Bruce

Best of Both Worlds - Part 3. 👍🏼

The Ninth Doctor

S-tier all day. No plot, just amazing character work. And another episode that elevates Picard above (arguably) any character in Trek.

Jason the Dave

I love this episode with all my heart. If I need a good cry I will watch this episode. This episode put TNG on a whole new level for me.

Glenn Zigli

This episode gave me chills. Stewart has the ability to emote emotions like no one. And we learned more about Picard this episode than we learned over three years.

Michael Metrick

I fucking Love this episode. An A plot, B, plot, and C plot and all legitimate character based storytelling. Even the weakest of them was still good. Just Love, Love, Love this episode. So of course it's the least watched episode of the season. And because of its low ratings it's used as one of the big reasons to limit serialized story telling for the rest of TNG.

Mark Wood

An episode that Gene did not want, this one is great and definitely needed. Patrick Stewart excels yet again, the Wesley sub plot is charming and then we have the best parents in Trek. Worf’s parents are great, their scenes with Guinan amongst the best of the fourth season. A tier episode for me.

Darren Seal

Character development will always be superior to spectacle.

Danspawn

I laughcry at this one every time. It's missing my beloved technobabble but it is just a solid picard can act episode. However, I also think it's HILARIOUS having picard's british accent with his french family . edit: the beginning of star trek generations wouldnt really land well without this episode.

Charlotte Hammond

S tier. I like Best of Both Worlds but I always thought this episode was better.

Spencer Loften

As i mentioned in my last post, this is the S-tier that edges out just a bit after all the other A-tiers. It's got that extra banger punch that pushes it over the line. It was rare that people could actually see the aftermath, so this was a great new look

Firekrys FWO

This is really the first serialized episode of TNG. Everything about it is the fallout from the S4E1 .. and I think its exactly what was needed. you cant have what happened in the last 2 episodes go down and not talk about it in depth. This was the trek we needed and I think it was very well done.

Lt Dan I scream

Some will say it's B, I've a feeling that J/A will say it's S, so I'll say it's A.

Andrew Buel

This is a brilliant episode. So often things get brushed past and the plot moves on. But the way they confronted in some way how the events have had an impact on characters makes this S tier for me.

Busy Andy

This episode grows on me over the years. Picard's irascible brother, his curious nephew and gracious sister in law.

Paul Hess

Not only an excellent episode on its own but coming after the Borg episodes it highlighted the range to stories that TNG could tell and tell well.

Gary Heron

S-tier but it’s one I’ve come to love as I’ve got older. As a teen it bored me, and I preferred BOBW.

Paul Rymer

This is one of my favorite TNG episodes. S-tier 100%

snthd

Taking time out to reflect on what just happened in a previous episode is commonplace nowadays on TV shows, but it can't be overstated just how unusual this was to see on a genre show like this, back in the early 90s. That would soon change, of course.

Dan J Reid

eh. This is a B episode for me. It has some good scenes, one really great scene with Picard and his brother, but it is not a particularly exciting joint either.

Steven Johnson

Yup. Fantastic episode and perfect follow-up story.

Chris S.

I must say I'm a bit surprised this has such a clear advantage above S4E1

Evan Guthrie

All of us hope to hear you both say, “this was great because there was no sci-fi plot interrupting the character stories!!”

Ross Townsend

S

Adam Renfrow

S-Tier. Not a doubt about it.
