UNCUT REACTION - Game of Thrones S1E7 - You Win or You Die

I may be in the minority, but were it up to me, I'd vote against pausing. I have a bit of trouble synching it up to begin with, and the pause doesn't help. But I do realize this is just my problem.

Steven Linden

I'm pretty sure that brothel scene is by far the worst example in the entire show of pointless gratuitous nudity. I still wasn't braced for how long and uncomfortable it is.

Jeff Cornell

You guys have some great discussions after Game of Thrones episodes. Sorry to be this guy every time it seems, but it'll be a crime against the Seven Kingdoms if you don't continue on with the series!

James Bottas

I don't mind pausing at all, no issue on my end to pause the stream as long as there's a notification of it upcoming. At least for me, pause all you want.

1:04:52 Oh, she wasn't just smiling. Her loins were frothing!!

54:20 Ser Jorah understands the Dothraki tongue. He translated previously for both Daenerys and Viserys.

Jovet

50:45 Yeah, Josh, basically.

Jovet

30:24 That sideways look from Alex. 😂

19:05 Classic GoT sexposition!!

Loving these reactions guys. Hoping it hooks you enough for Season 2

WabbitTrax

Feedback on pausing? Not a problem if something moves you to do it rather than wait.

Lincynity

oh, the pause? It's fine.

Tywin had such a great introduction. He's the richest man in the world but so joyless and cold he actually chooses to do his own butchering of deer. He is my favorite character of the entire series.

Ken R

It was definitely a real carcass.

Clyde Frog

"She must be beautiful, my lord! No, not really. Impeccable bloodlines though." One of my favorite lines right there. Littlefinger is such a piece of shit, but you still love the character. I swear GRRM's dialogue writing is beyond next level. Reading the books has given me an even more appreciation for his genius.

Clyde Frog

Robert's also clearly in a permanent funk over the loss of Lyanna Stark. One might even say subconsciously he wants to die

paultardspambot .

"law" in this world is a very relative thing

paultardspambot .

How would that work? If you've got the armies, you make the rules.

paultardspambot .

Protector of the Realm= like if a Starfleet captain is going on a mission and chooses to leave someone in command who isn't usually next in chain of command until the captain returns, or in this case till Joffrey "comes of age", as Robert recognizes he is not ready to be king, so whatever age that would be here by custom.

I believe that Charles Dance had actually never butchered an animal before, and he learned how to do it shortly before shooting that scene. I think it also wasn't a fake prop but an actual animal carcass.

Cameron Thacker

The versions streaming via NowTV (Sky) plays faster than the version you're watching. The pitch of the music and HBO ident is different. Explains why I end up out of sync.

Gavin Scott

Pause was fine and understandable. Okay truth time: Josh did you not really react during the whole Tywin Lannister scene because you felt that if you said something Tywin would turn to the camera, look right at you, and threaten you with being butchered? Talk about OWNING the screen, hello Tywin

With over 1000 characters in the written works, a song of ice and fire can certainly strain the working memory on who is who/related to who/ or which house allied with so on.. I have been there before in my first viewing of the series, but you have a decent guide beside you josh, that is reliably spoiler free. Now on my 3rd rewatch, I try to pay attention to the geography and maps more, I like to know who neighbours one another, because drama seeps out of these points in the plot, importantly, and especially with the credibility later into the series.

Patrick Smith

Yeah, I hate to say it so early in the show, but Tywin Lannister is still one of my favorite characters. Played by the great Charles Dance.

Since you are new to a lot of fantasy TV, Josh, I have to say that GoT is an outlier when it comes to fantasy. I have a lot of history with D&D and fantasy books, but fantasy TV or film are usually (almost always) shallow, childish, and weak on plot. GoT is absolutely none of those. Even today, I still love this show.
