10:55 Not her powers. She knows somehow. I always imagined she researched his programs.

The Barclay episode!!! Yep. This is a good one.

Heyo!

I think Geordi initially reacts that way to Barclay because he doesn't like how close they are in underlying personality. No one should look at Geordi's Holodeck search history, I am certain it is both an HR and human rights violation in the making. Both these dudes are the type to make deep fake porn and try to justify it as a victimless crime, then sprinkle in so me NFTs and Crypto. I love how TNG was talking about parasocial relationships and creepy incels like 40 years ago. This show also rightfully identifies that the way to deal with people like this isn't to ostracize but to at least try and understand and connect because in the end that is what the Barclay's of the world need. He struck a chord with me because I have been that dude; the late under achiever. Honestly still am but being aware of your flaws and working on them is an ongoing process. I never had a Geordi or Picard in real life but thank god I had Star Trek because they threw this in my face and even if it may have been a subconscious thing, I just didn't want to be start of ep Barclay, I want to be self-aware and trying to better Barclay. Anyway, as hammy as this episode can be I love me some Ensign Broccoli.

If you're expecting comedy it's probably not the movie for you. It's a fictional story inspired by real events around racial segregation and the civil rights movement and it's impact on families with a strong cast. IMO it's worth checking out. I found it moving with some very tense moments. I certainly agree with it's review ratings.

Looks like the crew had a beef with broccoli.

Chris Stewart

Love the editing on that opening! That must have taken a lot of time. 😳

So enjoyable to watch your reactions to episodes that are among my favorites. I’ve been rewatching episodes that are up next to refresh my memory. Looking forward to your viewing of the next two episodes….🖖

Did you ever see the movie? Is it any good or worthwhile?

The movie with Whoopi Goldberg was "The Long Walk Home" about the Montgomery bus boycott following the arrest of Rosa Parks.

Wow! I forgot how funny this episode was. I always remembered it as a very memorable episode. Maybe the humor (with the uncomfortableness) was one of the things that helped make it so memorable. Dwight Schultz is known from the A-Team television show, which was about the most popular show ever in the early 1980s among young teenage boys, where he played a bit of a Jim Carrey-type character. He also played Robert Oppenheimer in the previous movie about the atomic bomb with Paul Newman, 1989's Fat Man and Little Boy. Whoopi Goldberg was the one who recommended Dwight Schultz to the Star Trek producers for the role as they had just filmed a movie together which would not be released for another 6 months. Jonathan Frakes said that it was a riot to film this episode.

"I am the goddess of empathy" Dwight Schultz is also known from the A-Team. He is a great actor.

Who Cares reallly

I see what you did there. 🖖🏼

Silk

Dwight Shultz is definitely on Star Trek’s A team of guest characters.

Howling Mad Broccoli! 🥦
