As a Texan, I feel nothing but embarrassment for my representatives. I can say “Trump Supporters” aren’t all terrible. The worst are sensationalized and elevated in media but the well intentioned ones are like my dad, victims of propaganda. He works in the oil field and grew up Christian (of course he voted for trump in 2016). I had to explain to him that Islam isn’t a suicidal religion. The whole “72 virgins” thing after 9/11 really stuck with him. I’ve also done my best to explain queer stuff to him but that was easy. I’m gay and when I came out he loved me unconditionally. Actually both my parents became more outwardly liberal after I came out. A part of me wants to believe if every Trump supporter had a queer kid, most of them would still love their kids and become more understanding. But I have nothing to back that up besides my own personal experience. In general, I believe MOST Trump supporters aren’t malicious, they’ve just been lied to. And redemption similar to Andy’s is not at all fiction. After all, we voted for the first time as a family in 2020 for Kamala Harris.

I feel like a lot of well-meaning reactors have been saying "Well you can vote for whoever you want!" which is yeah true, but the current situation isn't about politics anymore. It's about a human beings right to be ALIVE and have RIGHTS to exist, which isn't even a question! Voting for someone who believes certain groups shouldn't have rights is insane and should not ever be respected or disregarded as "Well its just politics"

2025-04-27 03:02:29 +0000 UTCThis is the one really big issue I have with this shows and the gems in particular. They've been on Earth probably since before the rise and fall of Ancient Egypt. They've fought for this planet sacrificing their lives for it, but apparently never bothered to take one look at humanity or to do so much as to read a book about human culture and biology?? This kinda behaviour and lack of understanding would make sense for someone like Lapis and Peridot, but not for the rest of the gems. And this kinda stuff is something that really friggin' bothers all throughout the show and just feels like bad writing to me.
