Loved your thoughts on this one and very happy that you loved it. Great acting all around for the cast and really good writing. As I said before it's a banger! Thanks dudes

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but the actor who played Lal before she picked her gender was the actor who played the servant boy Trent in season 1's Angel One.

He hasn't had a ton of episodes to this point in the show. I really liked him in Coming of Age from season 1. He had some moments in The Bonding that really added to that story as well.

I assumed he was busy with other movies/shows and didn't have the time to devote like some of the other actors. Sort of like Whoopi's character. He does get his moments and as for his acting I think the character is written that way. He's a young, fatherless prodigy who doesn't want to disappoint his mother or Captain Picard so he chronically overachieves. He's one of the most acclaimed actors on the show if you add his filmography up.

After season one they kind of stopped doing anything with him. So far had he had one episode devoted to him after The Dauphin?

But his character was written horribly and his acting is ok at best. I never hated the character but was definitely disappointed that more wasn’t done with him before he left the series.

Great analysis. I think you're spot on that while this is a very strong script it hinges on the performances of the actors to pull it off. Get the casting of Lal wrong and this could have been really hokey but Hallie Todd pulled it off brilliantly. It was just understated enough. A very good performance. Brent is of course, fantastic. Also, this is obviously a companion piece to Measure of a Man and hits a few of the same beats probably too closely, especially with the Admiral in place of Maddox but there is enough freshness in the rest of the story that it doesn't detract too much.

I remember those early shows when Josh wasn't into Data yet. Glad you came around. Now if we could make you both Wesley Crusher fans we'd be in business!
