He crosses the frame in the first few seconds.

Mike Rogers

it's not that great but at least it makes me chuckle a few times.

Syl

I think so. Back in the day there were several sex-themed shows on mainstream TV here in in Europe. "Reporting" about swinger clubs, porn actors and so on. The fashion industry also was very into it. Ever heard of "porn chic"?

Sam Langanke

90's obsession? Like it's cooled off since then???

Monty Crawford

I was as excited as I was bored. Not once did I buy into Picards assistance and comradery lending itself out, but in the end he deceives Vash, and the 27th centurians.

Patrick Smith

It looks like Next Gen finally gets its equivalent of Harry Mudd in Vash. Fun episode, good but not great.

Nick Sauer

Hair down. Lol

Greg Quinn

Bare chested Picard take two!!

Shawn Indigo

Well... It's about time Picard push the beds together. Don't worry, this'll prep you for the MANY scenes in GOT where you realize you are watching Corn with your friend & coworker. 😳🖖

A G

Never heard of Indiana Jones?

Sam Langanke

That escalated. Never even heard about the affair until this thread, and now they were engaged...? If so, clearly didn't work out, which only confirms my assertion that they had no chemistry. :)

Andy Frankham-Allen

The episode that ended Patrick Stewart's first marriage! His wife Sheila Falconer and their kids were still living in England and Stewart would spend half the year in the UK and half in Los Angeles. He started having an affair with Vash actress Jennifer Hetrick after they met filming this episode. When Sheila visited him in California, she suspected that he was seeing somebody and he admitted it. They got divorced and Patrick reportedly got engaged to Jennifer, though they never ended up marrying.

Regan

No chemistry? The two actors ended up getting engaged. Though they never married.

Regan

He's also in the scene where Vash slips the disc into Picard's pocket. Sitting in the background wearing the same outfit as the opening scene.

Trouty McTroutTrout

His voice! Like Sean Connery's voice. Instantly recognizable. (And to some, quite irresistible.)

John

It's my personal belief that this episode, with certain ones soon after it, led to TV GUIDE proclaiming Stewart as "The Sexiest Man on T.V." in 1992. Suddenly, he was seen as the Indiana Jones of Sci-Fi. I was in college at the time, where many girls I knew, including my girlfriend, thought he was "sexy".

THE Fans

By no means exceptional, but tremendous fun. Great chemistry between Picard and Vash. Angrily slamming a heavy book shut is so Picard.

Another treat the captain like a kid act from Riker and Troi who at this point I'd be reminding that career advancement in starfleet requires that they transfer around to other ships more frequently.

Alan Thompson

(Star-Trek-Eye-Borg) This is my FAVORITE episode!!!! No, not really. It isn't bad though.

startrekiborg

That’s cool. I never knew that or looked it up, but I had wondered if they had ever sneaked Michael Dorn in amongst the background extras.

Leo Greenwood

i always enjoyed this episode. it’s nice to see picard with his hair down. it definitely has tomb raider vibes before tomb raider existed with jennifer hetrick.

David Marcoot

Riker assumes that the target is the horga’hn, and that Picard is being swarmed by women.

Leo Greenwood

Picard is pretty shrewd and knows fun loving Riker very well, so I don’t understand why he’d take a vacation on a planet recommended by Riker, and, wouldn’t be suspicious of Riker’s souvenir request. I don’t object to “fun” episodes, but this one’s not a favorite.

Leo Greenwood

#1 thing I remember from this episode (which enjoyed) is Picard's pronouncing of "privacy"

Mike Rogers

Fair episode with a ton of great individual scenes.

Greg Quinn

Interesting that the transporter has a protocol for violently exploding something. And pretty funny that Riker never brings up to Picard why he needed to urgently blow something up at the end of his vacation.

JGoss

That would be news to me. Where did you read that?

JGoss

This is also a Star Trek episode. But this time with banging.

JGoss

Those shorts Picard wore while lounging wound up selling for quite a bit of money. Even Vash’s dress went for like $2,000 from Christie’s, a big auction house. And that was back in 2006 dollars.

Brian Moore

This episode is the fufillment of Stewart's take to young Ronald D. Moore that "The Captain doesn't get enough fighting or f#%king."

Nolan

Troi also knows what the statue means. Says nothing :)

Miah1138

Prediction: you both will like, but not love the episode. It is well done. Fun fact Michael Dorn is in the first Risa scene without the makeup on.

Miah1138

I heard they had an affair in real life.

Philbot

I think so there’s the whole tinder hookup culture who would be cool with Horgons. I mean, no reason wanted to hook up with me, but I’ve heard people do it..

Philbot

It’s a fixed point like Doctor who they can’t change it. That’s why I always thought “they didn’t go back again.”

Philbot

I’ve always liked this one. I don’t know what you guys will think of it though.

Philbot

I remember this one when it first aired. I was maybe 11. Thought the Vorgons were a neat looking alien and that's about it. Nice that the Federation has Space Hawaii--errr, that is, Risa to be a designated vacation planet. Vash never did much for me, though.

Alexander McKechnie

The behind the scenes chemistry between Patrick Stewart and Jennifer Hetrick was apparently greater than their on screen chemistry, as they were together for 2 years after filming this.

Glenn Johnson Barnes

The plot here ends up being pretty stupid, but it doesn't seem to matter. It's like they had this good character story for Picard and then had to increase the stakes at the end for some reason. Just make everyone a treasure hunter.

Nerd's Gold

One of those episodes I always skip. The beginning is fun but the actual plot to the episode is incredibly boring to me.

Spencer Loften

Riker’s whole plot this episode is to get Picard laid. Echoing his role in “Peak Performance”, Riker uses guile and cunning to beat the odds in an old junker.

EnigmaticPenguin

Fun episode, I remember this being popular with fans at the time it was first shown, inspired a fair bit of fan fiction in the early online days.

Paul Rymer

They did, saw them together in London when I went to one of his Christmas Carol one-man shows.

Paul Rymer

Rikers little ploy with the horga'hn is a classic.

Faitestealer

I'm not entirely sure you'll think a whole lot about this one. Some things you'll both enjoy, but by the end when you have thought about it, I have a feeling you'll be this will be the first non-banger in weeks. There is just no chemistry between Picard and Vash - maybe on paper, but the actors lack the chemistry needed, and I feel Patrick Stewart just comes across as forced and unnatural in her more personal scenes with Vash. Yeah, not sure this one is gonna gel for you two.

Andy Frankham-Allen

I'm not sure this is a "good" episode but I always thought it was fun~

irohtheteamaster

Riker and the crew so into getting their Captain to take a vacation. Love the scene with Riker talking about Risa.

Christopher Dorn

The Star Trek manifestation of the nineties porn obsession. Do you think a 'pleasure planet' like Risa would be in writers' minds today?

Sam Langanke

I predict you are going to love the first quarter of this episode. The crew gleefully conspiring against Picard is great. The episode points out its own biggest flaw, the Vorgons know where the thing is now, they can just time travel back a few minutes earlier and get it.

tyranusfan

I think the "screwing and shooting" was the altered version. He may have said "fighting and f-cking."

Turtleboy

Legend has it that Patrick Stewart asked the writers for either more "sex and shooting," or literally "fighting and fucking" and they wrote this ep for him.

Turtleboy

Picard’s packin’ in this episode; both his suitcase and his space speedo. “Make it so, number 1”.

Steven Portillo

If I remember correctly, Patrick Stewart and Jennifer Hetrick started dating after this episode.

Sharron

Indiana Jones meets Love Boat! This is a fun caper that doesn't take itself too seriously and doesn't stand up to too much scrutiny, but it doesn't have to because it's FUN. I am very interested to see if you guys like this one.

Menty

I think you will enjoy this episode. Picard gets to be a combination of Indiana Jones and Dixon Hill, and punches a Ferengi. What's not to like? (Other than him being so gullible about the Vorgon)

Jeffrey

Honestly, I don't remember much about this episode. I saw it once, a long time ago, and nothing about it really stuck with me. So I can't predict how you'll feel about it, but from the way other people are talking about it, it's going to be a change of pace, but not an unpleasant one. I hope the streak of liked episodes continues.

John

If it were restful, it wouldn't be much of a story, would it? But yes, we've seen it before, but at least this time Wesley hasn't been sentenced to death.

John

I love “you’re blocking the suns”, and that filthy old leather-bound book was character building.

Smear Campaign

How do you generally feel about time travel within Star Trek storylines, how it was (sort of) used in this episode, and how much time travel you expect to see in the rest of Star Trek.

Smear Campaign

Be careful where you show off your Hor-gahn! This episode is the result of a request from Patrick Stewart him self for there to be more “screwing and shooting” in the series, specifically for Picard. Love the Indiana Jones/ Maltese Falcon feel of this episode. Yes, as with all time travel stories it raises questions, but it goes to show that when it’s a well-written, well-acted episode, it is easy to overlook sticking points. Welcome to the writing staff Ira Steven Behr!

Column Meanie

Came here for Jamaharon

Mister Hope

Well, that answers it. Captain Picard fucks...

Brendon Waldron

Whenever a pleasure planet like Risa is mentioned, you know something is going to go horribly wrong. Do Starfleet officers EVER get a restful shore leave?

Evan Guthrie

Back to back Picard episodes! Of course this is fantastic. Picard gets to take a vacation. Picards idea of fun is a bit different, he isn't much one for sitting idle to relax, he likes a mystery an adventure and he gets it here plus a romance meeting Vash. Rikers little trick on Picard is hilarious. Overall its nice to see Picard have a great time. I like this one very much.

Sequiro

Love the brief on this “just get the captain laid”

Darren Seal

I bet you guys weren't expecting to see Picard in a housecoat again so soon! This is a classic TNG episode. Weird new aliens, Ferengi, Picard romance. Vash is a total scene stealer! I always like when Picard quietly figures things out as the episode goes on and this is another great example of that. Sort of the Indiana Jones episode of TNG. A+ episode for me! No clue how you guys will take to it.
