Don't need it as content but I have to recommend you read the Topsy-Turvy manhwa bc it's definitely settled into my Top Manhwa of 2024. Not just because the writing is hilarious but the d sizes are OUT OF THIS WORLD and I find that to be its own brand of comedy in itself LMAO. It's definitely not the deep or dramatic brand of manhwa you've shared on your channel but it was def an engaging read!

{trying to reply to your comment but don’t know if I’m dumb and can’t see on mobile how to do it} First, happy new year! I forgot to mention it, I was laser focused on a special interest (AuDHD acting up) that it slipped my mind to mention! I hope 2025 treats us all better and we can enjoy more of your content that my sibling and I always look forward so much to! (Especially can’t wait for your next Husbando series ! Those are always fun.) Ah, now that you mention Sukeroku and Miyokichi, that makes me certain that you were luckily not spoiled on some important aspects! Yes, most normal people are meant to kinda hate them at this point in S1. Without spoiling, I will mention keep in mind who was the narrator. Who is telling this story? Is it a Storyteller/Rakugo actor telling it? Could it be possible we are not getting an accurate telling, or that everything is not exactly what it seems due to an unreliable narrator? Hence why your usual 3 episode ruling should be extended to a whole season in this case to get to certain reveals in S2, and perhaps a reason S2 has a MUCH higher rating, as I also couldn’t stand them in the beginning, and my opinions mellowed when we get the full picture of the events. I also truly loved how much I learned about Rakugo! I LOVE the mangaka Koji Kumeta, but up until I saw this, all I had was his bastardized Moe version of Rakugo (cgdct, as you coined it!) and like most westerners, I was more aware of Kabuki/Noh theater and Mazai. Rakugo was something I knew almost nothing about until this series! It’s now on my bucket list of things I want to experience if I ever visit Japan. And “Shinigami” in particular is a story I would love to see performed live. And the story struck me as very reminiscent of a variation of Perry 60 of Aesop Fables, (“the Old Man and Death”) and the Brother’s Grimm tale “Godfather Death”, and doing my own research, I found out that although it seems like Shinigami was an old Rakugo play from it’s Edo days, it really was inspired by the fables originating in the West, so that was fascinating to think something most people, -including the Japanese- believe to be such a traditional Japanese staple, was brought to Japan during the the cultural exchanges with the west, ironically during Sakoku. Don’t know if you watched the Jim Henson’s series The Storyteller, but I had a hunch after rewatching the episode “The Soldier and Death” a few years ago that there had to be a connection between it and the Japanese tale “Shinigami” and turned out I was right. Sorry if I’m rambling, again Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju has become a special interest of mine in and of iteself lol) So if you do rewatch it, I’m sure S2 will make up for any failings of S1. But unfortunately, it’s one of those series that the last few episodes have to be rewatched if they are not fresh in your memory, or else where it picks up next season could be very confusing. Really hope you do give it one more chance in the future! Kikuhiko is my personal gay acespec hero.. 🙏 Also, can’t wait to see your next videos, I would send in a question if I had any that didn’t consist of the usual “will you ever re-upload your old videos?” (We know, you said never 🥲) or “when will you ever get to watching x, y, Z?” I asked my sibling if they have a question for you, but they didn’t get back to me with one yet. Maybe they’ll ask through your community tab. They are not as terminal as me and may have a better question than I could ever ask. (If I know them, probably related to Danmei.) have a wonderful first week of 2025! Hope we cleansed ourselves of those 108 sins, ( just to accumulate them all over again!)🙏🔔🎍⛩️

i honestly enjoyed a lot of the rakugo elements cause i do enjoy learning about art forms from japan hence my love for things like tsurune and arguably things like jp male idol culture LMAOLMAO but i just REALLY disliked sukeroku and miyokichi. I didnt think the pacing was bad at all, just was not fond of any of the events that were going on, and the random squiggle on the noses of some chracters kept distracting me lmao sorry, maybe ill try it again another time.

So sad to see you dropped Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju. If you haven’t been spoiled on the plot, the slow pace will pay off. There will be a huge twist revealed by season 2, and by the end you’ll understand who Kikuhiko/Yakumo truly loved to the level of insanity. (The steps he takes to requite his true love are truly insane, but only in the manga do you get more of a confirmation of the truth). It’s gayer than most BL and if I could ask you to ever rethink a decision in your life, it’s to see it to the end. The ending is worth the wait... truly my top 5 fav anime, but harder to get people to watch and keep with it than i7… 😓 I get it if people just don’t care for it because they don’t like traditional Japanese culture and only like modern day Otaku weeb brainrot… But being a fan of yours for almost more than 4 years, I find it mind boggling you’d drop something that was acclaimed to the point of winning an Osamu Tezuka award and receiving a such a high MAL rating (for season 2) for a Josei manga… which rarely happens. It also introduces young/modern audiences to an almost lost art form that is Rakugo..
