James Cameron made an Underwater Alien Movie BEFORE Avatar 2

However, the shots with Ed Harris were special effects, since the process doesn't work for larger animals, esp humans.

There were experiments done with oxygenated fluid and mice, recreated here exactly, and with the same reaction by the mouse (that part was not a special effect).

That would be an awesome name!

Upon first read, I thought Duke Power was an awesome name for a guy who owns a nuclear power plant XD

Dan Halstead

They filmed it in a abandoned nuclear reactor vessel once owned by Duke Power in South Carolina. They constructed the largest filtered fresh water tank in the world at that time.

I actually loved this when I discovered it .rented from blockbuster and at the time as a kid fell in love w the weirdness of it . But now as an adult watching it is a chore tbh . It’s a great film in the pioneering aspect of it but it fell short . The documentary on the making of was fantastic

Don't look at me like that, I voted for the theatrical cut.

Gotta admit... this is one of my favorite films... because it has everything: romance, comedy, action, sci-fi and horror. It's long... but I think it works in the film's favor. What I mean is that we went on such a journey with these characters... experienced so much with them. As long as it was, I didn't want to say goodbye to these characters when the film ended. 🙂
