It gets the loathing that it does because audiences hate that particular type of episode. Those episodes feel like being ripped off.

2024-03-20 04:08:19 +0000 UTC@Andy Frankham-Allen Yeah. It is what it is, but it's not bad. I think they did pretty well with what they had. The beginning is a good-enough hook, etc. I am kinda dumbfounded it gets the loathing that it does. I keep saying: there is much worse coming!

2024-03-20 03:35:23 +0000 UTCHonestly, episode 22 ain't that bad. I think it'll appeal to Josh and Alex way more than some of the older fans who have lived with it for years. And, as I said elsewhere, the a-story is perfectly fine with some good Riker, Deanna and Pulaski moments for the lads to enjoy too.

2024-03-19 09:38:24 +0000 UTCEpisode 22 is not a proper episode. It's a stitched together contractual obligation. There is NO obligation on anyone to watch something just because it carries the ST branding and because it exists. My view is skip e22 and move straight to season 3.

2024-03-18 19:59:34 +0000 UTCAs far as episode 22 goes...there was a writers strike and there was only so much they could do. I watched it as a kid (about 10) and I knew it wasn't a great episode but as a kid I didn't hate it and it at least acted as a refresher and reminder of things. As far as the new trek goes....honestly there is old trek that I don't like...and there is new trek I don't like. But there is also new trek I do like. I think some of it is...we are adults now...so we judge the things we see now more stringently than we might have judged things when we were 10 years old (the way I sae episode 22 season 2 first). Of course all the political social stuff comes. All I'll say is....trek has always been mostly more left of center than the prevailing environment of when it was made. 🤷♂️

Nah, I'm not playing. Star Trek post 2009 is a trilogy of movies and five separate tv shows all being very different in tone and style and none of it is for you? That feels dishonest.
