Gathering movie suggestions for next batch of Audience Cut polls

Next week we will run 2024's first Audience Cut poll for you to decide the next movie we watch, so we need to gather your suggestions!

*Please take a look at our MOVIES collection here on Patreon to see what we have already reacted to*

There are no rules or constraints on what movie to suggest.

Comment as many movies as you’d like but please only 1 movie per comment.

If you see a comment for a movie you would like us to watch please like that comment instead of commenting it again.

We will take a mix of the most liked choices as well as ones we find most interesting and use them in the polls over the next few months.

There is only one returning movie from the last poll - The Abyss (1989)

Comments

Re-Animator - this will get you acquainted with one of the best actors in Star Trek history

Chris M

Flash Gordon - a highly underrated (IMO) but highly entertaining sci/fi fantasy romp. Produced and written by Lorenzo Semple Jr. who created and wrote the Batman TV show from the 60s.

Dantharr

Superman (1978) was the first live-action super=hero movie that started the entire trend of that genre of films, and once you see it, you'll know why.

Rhett Coates

Silver Streak (1976) is a hoot, and one scene in the middle of the picture could never be filmed that way again. Ever.

Rhett Coates

That one also stars Sally Kellerman, who just 6 years before, was in TOS's second pilot "Where No Man Has Gone Before" as Dr. Elizabeth Dehner.

Rhett Coates

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (I like the 1978 version, but the original 1956 is good, too).

Jeff

It's a Wonderful Life (1947). Its timely message is considered one of the best ever put to film.

Rhett Coates

THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL (1951), directed by Robert Wise, who also directed 1979's Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

Rhett Coates

Fried Green Tomatoes (1991). "The secret's in the sauce." LOL

Rhett Coates

Quick Change (1991)

Column Meanie

I think the just re released it on 4k

Roll Fizzle Beef

the Stillwater songs were written by Nancy Wilson and/or Peter Frampton. The band even practised for 20 hours a week for six weeks!

Ee'char

My sister never liked this type of music but she liked the film a lot! It's a good film regardless of the music (although Stillwater sounds just like a real 70s band. They got the vibe and musical style down to a T).

Moonlander

I was 6 or 7 when it aired. In hindsight I can't believe my parents let me watch it. I had more than one sleepless night afterwards, but it definitely left a lasting impression on me

Moonlander

Hopscotch (1980)

Nerd's Gold

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Captain Proton

I agree on both counts

Collin Freeman

A totally enthralling classic, and possibly Spencer Tracy's greatest performance!

Proposed more than once in this thread. Hopefully the guys will compile the not-duplicate likes from the multiple mentions.

Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022). I suspect you might have seen it already, but if not, I would love to see your "WTF" reactions!

Blane Mather

Mystery Train (1989)

Moonlander

They Call Me Trinity (1970.) A non-Sergio Leone spaghetti western that deserves more love.

Moonlander

Satan's Triangle (1975) Made for T.V. Movie I was 9 in 1975 and this Freaked me out! 😱

Duane Chancey

If you're into the late 60s/early 70s music scene (Led Zep, Who, Simon/Garfunkel, Fleetwood etc), Almost Famous can't be missed

Ee'char

Nearly NOBODY has reacted to "Surf's Up" (Sony Animation) on YouTube, which I think is a crying shame. Surfing penguins, shot in a mock-documentary style, with some animation techniques (mainly how they animated the waves) that had to be created in order to do it. Plus, it's funny.

Ee'char

Flash Gordon (1980)

Duane Chancey

Young Frankenstein

Ken R

Kalifornia (1993).. the only Brad Pitt performance I truly enjoy. It’s kind of a psychological thriller with a TNG connection (you’ll eventually get to).

Glenn Johnson Barnes

Dawn of the Dead (1978)

Duane Chancey

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Duane Chancey

They already did that one bro

Rj Simas

This is an absolute must watch! One of Spielberg's earliest big budget movies, right after Jaws. An amazing sci-fi film, that was overshadowed because it just happen to come out the same year as the original Star Wars. I'd highly recommend the Blu-ray Director's Cut. You guys gotta watch this one if you haven't already!

Michael Mannisto

Animal Crackers (1930), unless you’re well acquainted with the Marx Brothers already.

James H

A Clockwork Orange - surprised nobody mentioned it yet

Narnman

It’s possible, but if they haven’t.. then they definitely need to see it!

Thanks, JD ..... you are correct. DONE, with gratitude.

Rhett Coates

I'd also suggest - if you've never seen it - "It's a Wonderful Life" (1946) with James Stewart. It's not SciFi or in that genre, yet you both may declare the story your favorite movie ever after watching it. I'm not exaggerating.

Rhett Coates

The Lost Boys (1987)

TalynStarburst

Thanks for explaining

Jordan Cooper

Highlander (1986) It even has wrestling in it!

Julie Carter

Good Will Hunting

Andreas Schmitt

I guess if you watch the theatrical version it is only 3 hours. I have the director's cut, which is almost 4 hours.

The Martian

Andreas Schmitt

That's not what I meant, they only put movies on the polls that neither of them has seen at all, Patreon or not, and there's a lot more of those films that don't make it.

JD Nevesytrof

It's a slow burn but a pop culture classic, a story about the consequences of AI, I think they would appreciate the relevance to today's world. Plus, even Barbie references it's opening scene. They are the Target Audience.

Billy T. Riker

Mars Attacks! (1996)

Jovet

Alas, I don't think they'd enjoy it. Or its sequel.

Great as a stand-alone movie, with no obligation to watch the TV show that came after.

Regan

The Abyss is already going to be in the poll. It got enough votes in the last poll to be included in the next one.

Regan

They are watching Star Trek in release order. Star Trek VI was released in December 1991, between episodes 9 and 10 of season 5 of The Next Generation.

Regan

You might want to break this up into separate posts so people can support the films with likes, Rhett

This one is a long shot, but I'm going to suggest the mostly-forgotten film "Dragonslayer" from 1981. It features one of the best cinematic dragons of all time.

David Felgate

A classic film from 1952 which won the Best Picture at that year's Oscars is also THE movie that inspired Stephen Speilberg to end up becoming a film-maker, and that is Cecil B. DeMille's "THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH," starring film legends James Stewart and Charlton Heston. It's not SciFi, but is a "golden era movie epic" with literally thousands in the cast just like DeMille's other epic with Heston - "The Ten Commandments." Cecil B. DeMille is considered the best movie-maker in history, and Speilberg got the "Cecil B. DeMille Award" not too many years ago for his work as a director, and stated that DeMille's 1952 '--Greatest Show--' film was what got him into movies from the start.............. Speilberg's account of that is depicted in his movie "The Fablemans," a sort of biop of his early life, which was released about a year ago.

Rhett Coates

Dances With Wolves is so long that I once rented it from the video store, took it straight home, watched the whole thing, then took it straight back to the store and I still got a late fee.
