UNCUT REACTION (FROM THE VAULT) - Star Trek TOS ep7 - What Are Little Girls Made Of?

TOS Sex Scoreboard Is there any sex in this show? Once again we can't find any off screen time to assume some sparks between: Kirk and hot androidress; or between Nurse Chapel and Kolby. This may be the lamest boinkin' board of all time. It is possible a future Weasely may tie for the lead in the TOS board. Kirk 0 Bones 0 Spock 0 Extras: We almost gave Roc and Kirk a +1 with the way Roc was throwing Kirk around like a rag doll, but no.

I agree that this is a very underrated episode. It's always stood out to me from the earlier episodes, and not just because Sherry Jackson is absolutely gorgeous(it helps though). Also 2 "Kirk gets copied" eps in a very short span. That final scene on the planet ending with "Dr Korby was never here" is really haunting, as is the fact that they essentially left nothing behind but ghosts. As dangerous as he was, it's kind of a shame Ruk was killed, just on account of all the knowledge he had going back countless centuries. The last remnant of a now completely dead civilization. It's also scary to think of what would have happened if "Korby" had succeeded in his plan and managed to infiltrate the federation. Replace a small colony, lure in key individuals(politicians, ship captains, etc..) and just start replacing everyone with android duplicates. By the time anyone picks up on it, half the population is replaced and the rest aren't given a choice. Not entirely sure what was intended with Andrea. As Ruk said, he's a more advanced model, and as such seemed to have a bit more self determination at the end. It's pretty clear Korby lost more of his humanity in the transfer than he realized, but the episode also implies that Andrea(presumably a bespoke creation, not a transfer/copy) had far more humanity than Korby gave her credit for. Good episode

This episode always strikes me as being out of order even though it isn't. It introduces Nurse Chapel who is engaged and at the end she decides to stay with the ship. But in a previous episode she is already a crew member in love with Spock.

Spoiler: In fact Nurse Chapel is the voice for the TNG................. sorry running joke

Prof Moff

Just to make sure it looked correct right

Great lighting in this episode. Overall, a very fine sci fi story as well as being a good Star Trek episode.

Collin Freeman

All the cast are great in this, although it does feel a little out of 'format' for the show by being a very clear Lovcraftian horror story. Shatner's charisma shines through again.

Kudos to William Ware Theiss. His costume designs were awesome.

Collin Freeman

According to producer Herb Solow, Roddenberry was extremely eager to be present at the costume fitting for Sherry Jackson. He spent a considerable amount of time with the costume designer and Jackson, making alternations and checking the costume fit the actress.

I know. Stupid.

Here’s the nursery rhyme that the title comes from: What are little boys made of? What are little boys made of? Frogs and snails, And puppy-dogs' tails; That's what little boys are made of. What are little girls made of? What are little girls made of? Sugar and spice, And all that's nice; That's what little girls are made of.

I agree it's underrated. I never really properly gave this one it's flowers back when you first watched it, but the concepts here are some of my favorite sci-fi. The idea of copying exactly, right down to the very last memory, your entire mind and putting it into a machine to achieve a kind of immortality. We are our minds and our memories. But is that machine now you? It certainly thinks so. Kirk doesn't. "Doctor Korby... was never here"

Nurse Chapel's look at Andrea every time she enters the room are awesome. Also are we not mentioning the outfit? Gene must have loved that one.

First, love this episode!
