Yeah I disagree as well. Some of the writing in S1 (Wesley in particular) is pretty terrible. Easy to laugh at how bad some of the choices are in retrospect. It doesn’t come across as the guys don’t like the show at all.
It’s well documented that the first two seasons of TNG were pretty tumultuous behind the scenes and that is obvious in the writing.
But there are plenty of nuggets of gold to be found.

I like the new format as well. Much better to have a discussion than just a pure reaction video which YouTube is full of.

Same. The longer the discussion the better :D

@Paul Absolutely! I still want them to stay themselves. I despise fake reactions. Just trying to give some feedback on stuff I noticed so the new format with the longer discussions is the best it can be without taking anything away from the reaction :) I think Josh knows what I meant :) After all, them being not like other channels is why I became a patron in the first place :D

I haven't noticed what Andreas wrote about. The reactions are consistent with how TNG is different to much of TOS - a bit more thoughtful and dialogue-heavy; fewer fight scenes, fewer dramatic reveals (at the moment). I wouldn't say they are coming across as not enjoying the show, they are being themselves. I get annoyed by some reaction channels that seem over-the-top.

Future episodes will make this easier I feel. The episode quality (with maybe one exception left) will very much improve from now on IMO. I think there will be lots of positives for you to talk about :) Already can't wait :)

Both, but maybe during editing you could try and balance the positive and negative reactions a bit.
My general feedback is this: I've watched you long enough to know that when you make fun of sonething, you mean a writing decision or direction choice. However to someone new I feel it can often look like you're actually making fun of the characters. And I don't want new TNG fans to be put off my this misunderstanding. As you can imagine, many of them are very protective of these characters.
Also while i understand keeping your thoughts for the discussion, I feel you recently withhold all positive feedback for Character moments and scenes for that discussion part, which makes the reaction feel void of those.
Over the last couple episodes I literally couldn't tell at all if you had enjoyed the episode until the discussion started. Thus can be detrimental to the reaction, which you said you want to keep as the core of your videos. Maybe comment on some things during the reaction already. Maybe this withholding feedback until later is a subconscious thing, maybe it's by choice, but I feel it's hurting the reaction for the benefit of the discussion. Maybe a balance is needed here

Thanks for the feedback Andreas, does this apply to the full uncut reaction as well as the YouTube video? Just curious if the editing could have any effect.

Small feedback to you guys. I know this was probably not your favorite episode but it's as good a place as any to say this: On the one hand you say that the first season has positively surprised you, and I believe that. However: Unlike in TOS, you don't seem to enjoy the episodes based on your reaction at all.
You make fun of the characters, talk a lot more over the plot as before, you laugh at every silly moment. I don't really mind that, but I want you to be mindful that to any viewers that ONLY watch the reaction part, you come across as not enjoying this AT ALL sometimes. It is a very noticeable difference to most TOS reactions so far. Your enthusiasm for TNG so far only comes through in the discussion part, only rarely during the reaction part. If you ONLY watch the reaction it seems like you're making fun of TNG and find it completely silly and boring.
Maybe other people can chime in, in case I'm alone in this view. If so, ignore it for what it is hehe

Yup. First season writers were still wrestling with the legacy of TOS and not yet knowing the clear identities of the new characters. Riker would become less Kirk and Picard certainly became a very strong captain.
