Christmas Movie Suggestions
Added 2023-10-24 12:09:07 +0000 UTCI know it seems a bit early to be talking about Christmas, but the next movie poll will be for our Christmas special episode of Audience Cut! We will watch a Christmas related movie chosen by you, so drop your suggestions below.
Keep in mind we’ve seen most of the mainstream popular ones, so the more obscure the Christmas movie the better! Poll coming in November.

Santa Claus the Movie. Terrible but entertaing!

2023-11-04 11:57:12 +0000 UTCOk here is my Suggestion guys....A Christmas Carol 1938 is my Fav and I watch it every other year or so on Christmas. If you both have seen this one then never mind. The Star Wars one is not one I would suggest you watch....not during Christmas or ever. It will ruin Christmas not to mention Star Wars for you forever. That Star Wars T.V. Holiday Special was really Awful. However if you are interested in Completeness....it should be watched as the last thing on your Star Wars unwatched list if you have one. Even as a 12 year old when it came on T.V. I thought it was soo bad! 🖖

2023-10-28 06:04:23 +0000 UTCThe Hogfather might be a thorough change of pace for you, and I’m curious what you’d think of it (good or ill)! …it is, however, very long. xD

2023-10-26 11:04:55 +0000 UTCSounds perfect. Google says its a Christmas Movie, that's good enough for me.

2023-10-26 08:07:13 +0000 UTCOnly a Christmas movie in part and would raise controversial questions about what a Christmas movie is and the role of religion in fiction. (For example, "Die Hard" is more unambiguously a Christmas movie than "LWW".)

2023-10-26 06:24:03 +0000 UTCIt’s only 1/5 a Christmas movie, but I’d love to see the guys watch the 1972 Tales From the Crypt. The first segment is a post Edith Keeler Joan Collins as a murderous wife terrorized by a Santa dressed killer on Christmas Eve..pure camp mixed with horror.
Glenn Johnson Barnes
2023-10-25 22:30:45 +0000 UTCI've always enjoyed the Scott version, but it does (I think) depend on which version of the story you first see. Many people swear by the Alastair Sim version.

2023-10-25 15:06:41 +0000 UTCIt's a Wonderful Life is the classic Christmas movie for a reason, but Gremlins, Tokyo Godfathers, Black Christmas, The Muppet Christmas Carol, The Lion in Winter, Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence, and The Night of the Hunter are good non-conventional picks.

2023-10-25 06:28:00 +0000 UTCO.K. I’m going for old , obscure, and horror. The 1974 Margot Kidder Classic: Black Christmas A cult film if ever there was one.

2023-10-25 04:40:27 +0000 UTC"A Christmas Story" from 1983 is an absolute classic, and really very funny. Since it plays on TV so often, you guys have probably seen it.
PFCoffey
2023-10-25 02:21:39 +0000 UTCGotta be George C. Scott's 'A Christmas Carol' from 1984. By far, the finest portrayal of Dickens' story. Absolutely brilliant!

2023-10-25 01:45:40 +0000 UTCI have to get behind this suggestion. One of my all time favorite movies
James Bottas
2023-10-25 01:06:11 +0000 UTCYou're most likely to have not seen some of the older movies, I would guess. A couple I like are: The Bishop's Wife (1947) with Cary Grant and Loretta Young Christmas in Connecticut (1945) with Barbara Stanwyck

2023-10-25 00:25:09 +0000 UTCIt's hard to think of films that not everyone has seen, but I thought of 2 that are pretty under the radar and 1 well known one but a lot of people haven't seen. Krampus, a fairly recent comedy horror film. Trading Places, an old school comedy from the 80s. That one may be a bit too risque for this channel but was worth mentioning. And the more well known suggestion would be Jingle All the Way from the 90s.
THE LORE!!!
2023-10-24 23:25:52 +0000 UTCI didn't know there was a "badder cut" Got to check that out.

2023-10-24 23:22:18 +0000 UTCI made that suggestion also. Great movie.
Monty Crawford
2023-10-24 23:19:18 +0000 UTCI can only think of one movie that engulfs the heart and soul of both Christmas and the Target Audience. A movie with un-describable ( yes un) special effect and writing. Acting that is unmatched by any movie ever made. I am referring to of course: " Santa Claus Conquers the Martians". It also has the advantage of ( I am sure) never having been seen by the guys
Prof Moff
2023-10-24 23:17:32 +0000 UTCEither watch the original theatrical cut or the unrated "Badder Santa" cut. Do not waste your time with the Director's Cut, as it removes IMO one of the funniest scenes in the movie (the boxing ring).

KatWithAttitude
2023-10-24 21:15:49 +0000 UTCMaybe "A Christmas Carol" from 1999. Where our most british frenchman of Starfleet alias Jean Luc Picard will "engage" your hearts in his version of "A Christmas Story". :-)
Sebastian_Frodo
2023-10-24 20:59:24 +0000 UTCGreat film. Wasn’t crazy about the musical aspect. But the George C. Scott version in 1984 is a more serious dramatic tone. Scott is amazing. My personal fav.
Chris S.
2023-10-24 20:49:17 +0000 UTCAlthough it's slightly more of an Easter movie than a Christmas movie and you've probably already seen it: Ben Hur (1959)
Markus Ruoff
2023-10-24 20:40:59 +0000 UTC“Silent Night, Deadly Night”..the original.. And I’m sure you’ve seen “A Christmas Story”, but watching it while keeping in mind that the dad was married to “queen Deela” from Wink of an Eye gives it a whole new experience ha.
Glenn Johnson Barnes
2023-10-24 18:48:50 +0000 UTCI would also add Love Actually as a suggestion. I also like Scrooge, a Christmas musical starring Albert Finney.
Deborah Osika
2023-10-24 17:33:38 +0000 UTCHarried career woman from the city visits small town and finds romance with handsome, down-to-earth, but still wealthy blue collar guy.
Timothy Hennon
2023-10-24 17:12:50 +0000 UTCI always loved George C. Scott's portrayal of Scrooge as more of a cynical, world-weary a$$hole. His Scrooge is the most relatable, for me, anyway.
Timothy Hennon
2023-10-24 17:10:18 +0000 UTCMy late mother saw the 1999 Patrick Stewart "Christmas Carol" movie for the first time the Christmas before she died, although she had previously heard the audio version of Stewart's one-man show. She liked the movie so much that I think she would have seen it every subsequent Christmas if she had lived longer, although she found the opening scenes hard to watch because she loved Stewart from TNG, and it was tough for her to see him playing such a nasty character. The movie includes scenes from the book that are seldom included in screen adaptations (although the Muppet version is also very faithful to the book).
Anthony Bernacchi
2023-10-24 17:08:33 +0000 UTC2 movies that are fantastic if Alex and Josh haven’t seen them are 1-A Christmas Carol, the George C. Scott version, and 2- The ORIGINAL Miracle on 34th street with Natalie Wood!
Chris S.
2023-10-24 17:08:09 +0000 UTCIt originally aired on November 17, 1978, so closer to Thanksgiving than Christmas, and Life Day is closer in concept to Thanksgiving than Christmas.
Anthony Bernacchi
2023-10-24 17:03:22 +0000 UTCLove Actually. A Christmas-themed "Chick Flick" with a ridiculously loaded all-star British cast, and where--strangely for a chick flick--the vast majority of main characters are men.
Timothy Hennon
2023-10-24 17:00:05 +0000 UTCThey only have four stories, they just keep retelling them over and over and over again!
Steven Johnson
2023-10-24 16:59:23 +0000 UTCLove that one, the George C. Scott version and the Albert Finney musical (though I would not recommend that last one on this channel.)

2023-10-24 16:18:39 +0000 UTCWhat an underrated gem. I like that it has an original premise instead of reusing the premise of another Christmas movie. More people need to discover this film.

2023-10-24 16:03:48 +0000 UTCStewart did an interview recently with Jonathan Frakes where they mentioned that he did a stage play of it on Broadway, I think, voicing 30-40 parts, but I guess that is something different. It looks like the TNT version is from 1999 and features Richard E. Grant and Joel Grey. It's apparently 95 minutes long. I say that this or Star Wars would probably be most appropriate for this channel, depending upon what they have seen previously.

2023-10-24 14:14:47 +0000 UTCIt's a Wonderful Life (1946) A Christmas Story (1983) A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) Those are great but widely seen. So is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989). 2018 Grinch? I just know of the 2000 Jim Carrey version and 1966 version voiced by Boris Karloff. The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)? Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983) is only 26 minutes. There are only about a 100 or 1000 versions of a Christmas Carol; just pick a new unseen version that looks interesting perhaps. A lot of television show even did a version of A Christmas Carol. Of course, there's the Star Wars Christmas special; I remember seeing that live.
