PS the 1987 Kyle McLaughlin film.

Diane Lynn

Thanks guys. I would love for you to watch The Hidden. A movie that has been under the radar that is unique, multi-layered, funny, horrifying. Filled with action plus pathos. Cheers.

Diane Lynn

V (1983, two-part TV miniseries) is surprisingly good. (I think the creator, Kenneth Johnson, should have saved it for a film series instead of tv -- would have loved to see a bigger budget version.) It's mostly forgotten today, but it was a sensation when it aired.

JM63

And remember.....we're all going to be here for you both while you get through season 1 of TNG. Think of us as a very large support group, who you can turn to every time you both think that you just can't make it through season 1.

Numinous2019

If you are going to be starting TNG soon, then definitely choose something short and sweet to also watch. I can't think of a suggestion myself (besides shows that were unjustifiably cancelled and so won't be satisfactory to commit to viewing).

Numinous2019

Time After Time got over 10% so it will be returning on the next poll!

Josh (Target Audience)

It’s going to be several years by the time they are done 7 seasons of TNG. That’s like 175 episodes

Derek Orr

I thought of a couple suggestions for short Series to check out. #1 The Fantastic Journey early 1977 10 Episodes. #2 Logan's Run late 1977 14 Episodes. They're not exactly Popular but I loved them growing up!

Duane Chancey

Also here’s a movie suggestion: PRETTY MAIDS ALL IN A ROW. A 1971 sexploitation film scripted by…. Gene Roddenberry. I’ve never seen it, it’s supposed to be awkward as hell, but y’all could make a great reaction to it. Quentin Tarantino named it as one of the 10 greatest movies ever made! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pretty_Maids_All_in_a_Row

Stuart Arbury

I love new Battlestar BUT… wait until after TNG. Ronald Moore (writer on TNG and showrunner of new Battlestar) has said that he did a lot of things on Battlestar that wouldn’t fly on TNG. So I think the show works a lot better as a reaction/evolution to TNG.

Stuart Arbury

Here’s a thought for a quick video: 5 things you get out of TOS that are lacking in modern TV. Could be anything. Episodic stories. The fun of the “how are they gonna wrap this up in 50 minutes” format. How the lack of good sets/effects means the writing/acting/ideas better be strong enough to compensate. About halfway through your TOS review series there was a great moment where one of you said “I’m so happy we’re watching Star Trek again, I literally haven’t been excited for anything else”, this could piggyback off of that. What is it about this 60s show with all of its campiness that makes it so much more appealing than Secret Invasion, Citadel, etc.

Stuart Arbury

Love ya gents! And pace yourselves! We’re all patreons because we want to help the channel succeed. Keep your priority on the YouTube audience and growing them.

Stuart Arbury

I think after a respectable interval they could handle all 10 episodes.

James H

That's a great movie.

JD Nevesytrof

For a film, no idea if you've seen it, but Poseidon Adventure 1972 is a movie you can't go wrong with.

Ken R

That all sounds good :) And I think the most important thing for the YouTube Algorithm is consistency. So as long as you do the regular TNG stuff I doubt it matters if you sprinkle in stuff you personally enjoy to keep things fresh. That should be perfectly fine, and over time also get recommendations.

Andreas Schmitt

In my top 3 Klingons. Korrrr... Military governor of Organia!

Steven Johnson

I've seen Alex with a Kurt Russel t-shirt on, I would be very surprised if they didn't come away loving it.

Steven Johnson

Chasing trends is counter-intuitive. Ask any major company that has done so.

Steven Johnson

Run Lola Run (1998)

Dion James Pitman

Hey you are right David, I forgot that one. Not sure how I forgot it as I have that Script along with 2 of Genesis II & an unproduced Planet Earth Script that was written in case the show was picked up as a series and features the return of Lyra-a. Really cool Script as it has hand written notes that may be by Gene Roddenberry. A cool and interesting story about that script and how I found out that it may be his notes and Corrections. If you want to know David I can tell you here...not a long explanation as it involves Susan Sackett if you know who that is.

Duane Chancey

There's a fourth Roddenberry movie/pilot from 1974 called "The Questor Tapes" starring Robert Foxworth and Mike Farrell. It was written by Gene Roddenberry and Gene Coon, and features appearances by Walter Koenig and Majel Barrett. I've read about it but have never seen it. Like you, I watched the 3 you named several times in the late 70s.

David Felgate

Whacky, based on your comment I just reviewed the list of S2 episodes to see if was as bad as you say. I guess I liked the season a little better than you; I found 6 episodes (out of 22) I enjoy re-watching: "A Matter of Honor", "The Measure of a Man", "Pen Pals", "Q-Who" and "The Emissary" and "Peak Performance". The rest is a bit of a slog to get through. "Shades of Grey" is simply dreadful. (Needless to say, this list is based on my personal preferences and is purely subjective.)

David Felgate

Pick out a movie now and then from your Patreon subscribers that they suggest just right out of the blue without a poll. Mine for instance would be 'Murphy's War" starring Peter O'Toole that is underrated and seems lost to obscurity. Very good movie that no one has reacted to yet, one also that would be made with a lot of CGI now but back then they used real props...(pun intended there if you watch the movie) and sets. That alone for me is worth a watch and your reactions thereof..

Monty Crawford

It leaves a lot of room not giving a decade, style, or genre for movie suggestions, but here are a few. Firewalker (Chuck Norris, Louis Gosset jr 1986) Lean on Me (Morgan Freeman 1989) The Fugitive (Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones 1993) Surf’s up (animated 2007) The Big Sleep (Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall 1946) FYI, there are two versions of this movie. I believe the second one that was the major release in the US is the better version.

Nerd's Gold

Hi guys, I wonder if there's a possibility of reviewing the Six million dollar man series sometime? It was a fun tv show growing up.

JoeyVettes

SO SAY WE ALL!!!!!!!

Derek Orr

So say we all!

Gaius Frakking Baltar

If you have time, I think it would be fun if you watched the pilot for Galactica 1980. This is a show that has to be seen to believed -- esp. now that you've seen the original series.

Ron

This is a great idea and would probably increase views

Chris

The first 2 seasons are really bad. There’s only 2 episodes from season 2 that I rewatch.

whacky deli

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE watch the new Battlestar Galactica

Derek Orr

Even though TNG is 7 seasons, its episodic, so every week is a new adventure for the most part. Its gonna get goid!

Chris S.

Kor. Glorious!

Chris S.

I know this was on your most recent list of movies to watch, but I think you should watch Time After Time with Malcolm McDowell and David Warner. It's from 1979 and directed by Nicholas Meyer who directed Star Trek II: TWOK. Warner is a great actor and has roles in Star Trek V and Star Trek VI.

Collin Freeman

I'll throw a movie out there very under-rated fun little movie. The Final Countdown earlier 80's. This was the Top Gun movie before Top Gun. In fact it was the reaction to the Navy to this movie that helped the Navy green light involvement in Top Gun. Great practical effects, a lot was filmed on the Carrier, that was good but also led to some "acting" by the real sailors that show why they are sailors and not actors lol.

Prof Moff

It was more that he wanted a show where the human characters have no conflict, but I don't think that was the actual problem. The writing staff was a chaotic revolving door, Gene as showrunner constantly meddled with the scripts to their detriment and his lawyer who wasn't even a writer was illegally inserting his own material into every screenplay. Lack of discipline was the main problem.

JD Nevesytrof

I'm assuming you guys will be watching TNG on Paramount+ or Blu-Ray? Fortunately unlike TOS, very few effects shots were outright replaced with CGI, although a few CGI shots are slipped in to correct continuity errors or to replace other mistakes. But thanks to the remaster the show looks so vastly better than when I was a kid, even on the first ($700~) DVD box set, it was no better than standard definition and looked muddy and poorly tinted. https://tng.trekcore.com/bluray/images-s4review/tngs4-review-colorcomparisonchart.jpg Also, as someone mentioned the TOS blooper reel which is a bit hard to make out but still very funny, if you planned to react to the gag reel at the end of each TNG season, that'd be a fantastic thing to throw in. The TNG cast famously was one of the 'loosest' and most off the wall in the history of television and the bloopers easily bear that out.

JD Nevesytrof

Hey guys, I'm still working my way through Battlestar but I do enjoy your extra content and these plans sound good. Honestly though, I joined as a motivation to re-watch all of Star Trek so I feel like I'm getting my money's worth with those great reactions! I'm really enjoying the movies and am very excited for TNG!

Gary Leyh

Hey Steven that is right there are a few Door mishaps in the Bloopers....LOL

Duane Chancey

You do realize that Colicos was a KLINGON right?

Michael Nemo

I disagree. Once someone stumbles upon a reviewer they like, they will go through their videos to see what else they’ve done. I have personally done this and watched Terminator reviews for example, 10 times or so, because I liked the reviewer. Then I have subscribed. But I have also found one review I liked and enjoyed the reviewer but went on to bail and not subscribe because they had nothing I enjoyed to offer. For example a bunch of anime or horror. Having a backlog of popular reviews isn’t about attracting viewers - it’s about holding on to them and getting them to subscribe once they see you have a lot to offer.

Jef Etters

I do have a suggestion on a Movie. It is related to Trek in that it was written by Gene Roddenberry as a T.V. Pilot. The Networks were wanting a series like Star Trek after they saw it's #'s in Syndication. The title is Genesis II & Stars Alex Cord, Mariette Hartley, Ted Cassidy aka Lurch from Addams Family and also Genes wife and Nurse Chapel Majel Barrett. Between the networks they had Roddenberry produce 3 such Movie Pilots...this one in 73...Planet Earth in 74 and Strange New Worlds in 75. The 2nd and 3rd both Starred John Saxon as the Main Character Dylan Hunt who is the focus of the Story. I loved when these were shown in the late 70s on the weekend Movie at night. A real shame none of the Pilots were made into a show! Mariette Hartley plays a memorable role as one of the leaders in a society of a privileged few and the rest are Slaves....Also her 2 Belly buttons was unique and a first on T.V. Funny he did that as it was not that many years before the Networks would not allow Mary Ann on Gilligan's Island to show her belly button or the more known Barbara Eden Belly Button Controversy from I Dream of Jeannie. TV really changed a lot over those 12 to 15 years. 😀🖖

Duane Chancey

Any time they mentioned wondering if someone was operating the doors in the TOS reactions, I would smile and think of the blooper reels.

Steven Johnson

That's actually counter intuitive. Sometimes that is effective, but you also just run the risk of getting buried. For the dozen or so reactions of Terminator reactions we know of, there are hundreds more that never break through the ceiling. That's not enough. What set them apart was that they chose to do the original Star Trek. Shooting to attain popularity based on what other people are doing is chasing trends. I think they're better off to stick to their guns.

Steven Johnson

I like the plan, movies will be more manageable and you can schedule them when you have time. Can’t wait for TNG. I think you will like seeing season 1 without having the expectations and coming from your love of TOS and TAS. You will enjoy seeing those style stories with the new cast . Here’s a suggestion for a movie if you haven’t seen it The Neverending Story (1984) you are familiar with one of the lead actors already.

Jonathan

I like the idea of doing 2 movies per month. If you do another series you should pick a shorter one, I suggest the live action version of One Piece on Netflix, it's 8 episodes, no prior knowledge is required and it's just pure fun to watch.

Phillip Grischa

Not a spoiler, but the first 2 seasons of TNG, Roddenberry wanted a show without conflict. Don't base all of TNG based on the first 2 seasons, they are strange. You will come to love the show and all the characters. (well maybe not all....lol)

MrDeadstu

I have to vote for Tombstone also, I feel like unless you come out and just say "No Westerns!" you're going to get it added over and over again, it's a heck of an entertaining flick. Of course then the floodgates will open... Anyway, I'm glad 12 Angry Men will be coming back on the next poll, also have you guys seen or considered Chernobyl as a Patreon exclusive? Only 5 eps but damn do they pack a punch.

JD Nevesytrof

Dark City - Director's Cut

MrDeadstu

If I were you, I would scour other reaction channels and take note of the movies they react to and put those on Youtube to build up your audience. There are tons of reactions to Terminator, Blazing Saddles, Grease, whatever for a reason. They’re popular.

Jef Etters

Yes! That's a classic.

Steven Johnson

Sounds like a plan there Josh & Alex. I was 21 yrs. old and loved TNG when it first aired in 1987. I'm sure you will love it...Picard is alot different than Kirk, he's more calm and Calculated. I hope you saw my previous Msgs. about the TOS Blooper reel that was shown at the early Trek Conventions...even if you don't do a reaction vid on it you should check it out. Every Trek Fan is not a Complete fan without seeing those...if you do watch the 22 minute reel Let us know! 😀🖖

Duane Chancey

Yeah Tombstone would be a great watch for these guys. Also would like to add another great Western - "Once upon a time in the west"

Matthew

Yeah, I think trying to do, well, right now three series at once basically. is overkill for you guys. Both in all the stuff you're trying to take in and remember, but then also in terms of editing. I think having the film reactions alongside TNG is probably a stronger format, because it allows for more diverse content month to month WITHOUT being bogged down in a whole series. When you guys were doing pilot month, on top of TOS, you started to seem a little burned out. That's one of the reasons I thought Quantum Leap would be a good change of pace over doing another space-based show. One option that you might consider is miniseries. You'll be watching Apollo 13 this month, which has an offshoot HBO miniseries called "From The Earth To The Moon." Similarly to how Saving Private Ryan had the offshoot of "Band of Brothers." Those are certainly options. There's the Horatio Hornblower miniseries as well. The "Sharpes" Miniseries is also quite good. These are usually 8 to 10 hour long episodes When you watched Specter of the Gun you guys seemed kind of not big on westerns, and I'm curious if that's just because you haven't really seen any, or if you've seen them and just aren't into them? There are some banging westerns. Just about anything with Clint Eastwood is amazing. Also, Tombstone would be an ideal movie for you guys to watch. Here's my list: 1. Event Horizon 2. A Simple Plan (1998, one of Sam Raimi's underrated works between Evil Dead and Spiderman. Amazing cast and atmosphere.) 3. ReAnimator - The legendary Jeffrey Combs. 4. Day of the Dead (1985), my personal favorite zombie movie. 5. The Day After (A fantastic 1980s TV drama movie directed by Nick Meyer.) 6. The Outlaw Josey Wales 7. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly 8. Unforgiven 9. Tombstone 10. Dances With Wolves

Steven Johnson

Us too!

Josh (Target Audience)

I'm excited for TNG! 😊
