Four days.
It had been that long since they left Astralis.
The blood was gone. Washed out of the armor.
Yet Leon sat on the edge of his bed, his helmet still on.
The world outside carried on in dull, lifeless shades.
A silent notification pulsed at the corner of his display.
Nyra's final transmission.
He hadn't opened it. Not because he didn't want to. But because he already knew what it meant.
Because reading it would make it real.
Becaus...

AUTHOR NOTE: This is the continuation of Chapter 1 flash-forward.
The explosions that had shattered Astralis' colony still echoed faintly in Leon's ears as they moved through the dense forest. The Valkyrie stayed out of sight, forced to take a wide detour around impassable terrain. Each step sank into the damp earth, the weight of his armor pressing down like the memories he couldn't shake.
He recalled the first attack: the massive mana beast erupting from the undergrowth, i...

Leon watched the holographic displays cycle through settings and codes as Tess worked on shutting down the hangar's defense grid.
Outside, the shield bearers held position in the corridor, guarding the narrow control room. The rest of the team waited in silence, watching him, ready for further orders.
"Sir… I-I got the door open. Turrets are off," Tess said, almost whispering.
"Good work." Leon then switched his comms. "Ops Command, Obsidian Two."
"Go ahead, Two."

"Mason? Is something wrong?" Leon asked as they finished inspecting the bodies of the fallen enemies.
A few seconds of silence on the other end made his heart pound faster.
Why isn't he answering?
"Mason, come in."
Another pause. Still nothing.
Then finally—
"Leon ha… we ha… need backup…" Mason's voice broke through, breathless between words.
There was another brief silence before Mason continued, "They have Fulgaris with them. In Cla...

THUMP.
Leon felt the sudden kick of acceleration as the pod launched from the turret. A breath later, a sickening weightlessness twisted in his gut, the familiar sensation of slipping into the void.
He drew in mana, cycling it through his body. The nanites surged to assist, optimizing his absorption rate as he pulled more, and pushing excess into his armor's channels.
The red launch lights cut out. In their place, a steady pulse of blue lit the pod'...

The Inceptor's hangar bay buzzed with motion and noise. Obsidians rushed between crates, checking gear, weapons, and shouting to one another over the chaos. Voras clustered in tight circles, going over last minute plans while techs weaved between them.
Near the lift, ten Breacher Pods were lined up in two rows—dark gray, rectangular rods twenty feet long, built like heavy bolts with pointed tips. Faint blue mana circuits ran along their surfaces, pulsing in steady, rhythmic beats.

"Where did the time go?" Leon muttered as he sat at the edge of his bed, eyes fixed on the black armor mounted on the stand. It caught the soft light and shimmered, casting warped reflections that pulled him deeper into his thoughts.
In the polished surface, his own eyes stared back, faintly glowing with mana. His blurred reflection looked larger, more imposing than he felt.
A year had passed since he signed the dotted line. A simple flick of the wrist had changed everything.

"That is the stupidest idea I have heard."
Nyra stood by Leon in front of the shield wall. The pack had been dealt with and they were getting ready to continue forward.
"I have to. I think it'll help me," Leon said.
"What are you two arguing about?" Mason walked up to the two of them.
"Leon thinks it's a good idea for him to be in front of the shield wall," Nyra said in an irritated tone, crossing her arms.
"What? Why?"
"Trust me, I think it'll help me. I h...

TL;DR Main Point:
- Dropping ALL remaining Book 1 Chapters on Monday, Sept 8th. (Members only)
- Changes to the UX this weekend
Good day!
Topic #1:
After mulling it over for a while, I’ve decided I want you to experience the final act of Book 1 the way I always intended: either in one big binge or in large chunks, not piecemeal.
As I’ve mentioned before, Warfall Legacy was never planned with web serialization in mind. The pacing and the ...

The Valkerie landed on the ground of Gravemire. Leon stepped out with a cavora of Obsidians behind him.
His boots crunched on loose gravel and dust picked up by the strong winds hit his visor. A vast canyon stretched out before him, twisting and broken like a maze. Jagged cliffs cut deep into the earth, and glowing MRM veins ran along the rock, pulsing with raw energy. The ground trembled now and then. Mana filled the air, making it shimmer in his eyes.
A regular soldier in grey a...

The Aquila entered the Inceptor's bay, slowing down and landing. Leon got up and placed the sword on his hip as the mana engines powered down.
"After you." Jeffrey stepped aside on the aisle.
Leon nodded and walked ahead. He waited by the door as the ramps from the other side finished extending.
A second later, the door slid open revealing the small bay that held two Valkerie Orbital Carriers.
At the end of the ramp, a cavora in black gloss armor stood at attention.

Leon sat up on a medical bed, still affected by the anesthesia. He was a bit lost on where he was. The bright lights reflecting off white walls with no windows blinded him while the familiar smell of antiseptic hit his nose.
He circulated mana in him to speed up the process of getting rid of the anesthesia. The way his body responded was different from what he had grown accustomed to. It felt freer and more connected to it. As if it had become part of him instead of drawing from an exte...

The Ruinari Program?
Leon blinked. He'd never heard of it before.
"It's classified," the Warcenturion said, catching the confusion on his face. "It falls directly under the command of the Imperial Covenant Imperators. It bypasses the standard Army chain of command entirely. On paper, you'll be assigned to the Obsidian Order. Once you graduate from Command Track, you'll receive a cavora within the Order…but every soldier in it will be part of the Program."

Knock knock.
"Leon, it's me. Can you let me in?" Nyra's voice filtered through the door, soft but edged with concern.
Leon lay curled on his bed in the darkness, knees drawn to his chest, a pillow pressed over his head like a barrier between him and the world.
Knock knock.
"It's almost time for lunch," she tried again. "Can you open the door? You missed breakfast... Mason and I are getting worried."

"Let's take a break," Leon said.
He nodded to Mason, who planted his shield into the mud with a heavy thunk and sat down beside it.
Talia, Lena, Nicko, and Varen gathered around, forming a loose circle. One by one, they pulled out their ration packs in silence.
Leon and Mason had come across them nearly an hour ago, worn down but still moving.
Leon looked over at Nicko. "How's your arm?"
Nicko moved his right slightly, then let it drop. "It's numb. Can't really f...

Leon ran deeper into the woods, panic driving every step. His lungs burned, and his breathing was fast and uneven. The forest was dark, with pale, eerie colors visible through his mana-enhanced vision. Colors that made his fear even worse.
He had lost sight of the others. A quick glance behind showed no Dire Hounds chasing him.
Then his foot caught on a vine, and he fell hard into the mud.
The shock snapped him out of it. He lay still, gasping, his breath wild and uneven.

Leon stood among a thousand armored recruits, shoulder to shoulder beneath the pale light of dawn. His weapons gleamed in the rising sun, polished steel catching fire at the edge of the horizon.
"Good morning, recruits," the Warcenturion's voice boomed across the field. "Today marks a day you will never forget—"
THUD.
A thousand spears struck the earth in unison, the sound echoing like thunder.
"You will leave as recruits—"

"Move!" The command rang out.
The convoy advanced into the Blackthorn Wilds leaving behind the Hellcrawlers.
The heat faded into a heavy, suffocating damp, where light barely reached through the twisted canopy. Every tree looked wrong, and vines draped low like nooses, unnaturally still, and bristling with hooked thorns. The ground was soft and covered in thick moss.
"Ugh come on!" Mason groaned.
Leon glanced over his shoulder just in time to see Mason yank his boot fr...

Leon stood in front and watched his vora lay their gears in front of them. His helmet display gave him vital stats and designation marker.

First off, just want to say thank you all for your support. Warfall Legacy hit Top 5 (as I am writing this) on Rising Star, which is the front page on most devices!
This is my very first story, and I’ve spent a long time working on Book 1. I’m truly grateful for all the encouragement and support I have received along the way.
Now, the main reason for this post:
I want to give everyone an early heads-up. After the final chapter of Book 1 goes live, ...

The dining facility was steeped in silence, broken only by the muted clatter of utensils and the low scrape of trays sliding across metal tables. The usual chatter had faded. Recruits sat hunched over their meals, shoulders sagging, eyes glazed with fatigue.
Steam rose from untouched food, the smell of lunch mingling with sweat and dust. No one had the energy to speak. They ate slowly, or simply stared at their plates.
"Ugh... that was tiring," Nyra said, setting down her utensil ...

The clamor of steel on steel and the distant cries of battle were muffled. Inside his helmet, all Leon could hear was the rush of his breath and the steady drum of his heartbeat. His left hand pressed against Mason's shoulder as they surged in formation to engage their first enemy.
Leon stole a glance over his shoulder. Nyra's vora fanned out behind them, off to the right, their formation tight and following them. His fingers curled tighter around the spear shaft until his knuckles ache...

Leon’s vora stood beside Nyra’s. Two hundred armored recruits faced off in the open dirt field. No one spoke, the wind was still, and the air thick with tension. Inside his helmet, Leon heard only his own breath and the steady thump of his heartbeat, amplified in the enclosed space.
He tapped the side of his helmet. Nothing. Tried again. Still no response. There was no HUD, no comms, no response at all. Just the quiet hiss of the air filter and the thin layer of condensation forming...

Lights hummed above the field, casting pale circles across the dirt. Most recruits had already turned in for the night, leaving the training grounds nearly deserted. Only a few lingered at the edges—small clusters sparring, talking, or just sitting in their armor, too exhausted to move.
Leon stood near the center of the field, gripping his spear with aching arms. His legs felt like stone, and sweat clung to the inside of his suit, pooling uncomfortably at every joint. Across from him,...

One hundred armored Fulgari recruits stood in formation, steady and silent beneath the rising sun. Dawn broke over the jagged horizon of Ferros, spilling golden light across the rust-colored plains. Shadows stretched long behind them, sharp and surreal against the cracked, red earth.
Their newly issued armor, matte gray with the angular imperial design, caught the light with a gleam. Between the segmented plates, faint pulses of blue flickered, revealing the living nanite mesh beneath. ...

Leon's training group lounged in the auditorium after lunch, waiting for the instructors to return. The ambient buzz of conversations filled the space as recruits settled into their seats.
"Those burgers were actually decent today," Nyra said, dropping into the seat beside Leon. She stretched her legs out, crossing them at the ankles.
Leon nodded.
"The breakfast was better too. I think there might be a new cook in the mess."

The following morning made Leon felt singled out in ways he hadn't anticipated. When he first appeared to fall into formation, an assistant instructor immediately pulled him to the side.
"Medic's orders, Ezra. Observation only today," she said, gesturing at the edge of the training area.
The unexpected treatment plus the various different gazes he received made it hard not to feel like he was an odd ball.

Leon woke with a splitting headache. Light filtered through the window, too bright against the dull throb behind his eyes. He lay on his back, staring up at the white ceiling panels of what was the medical wing. The sharp scent of antiseptic filled his nose, bringing back the uneasy feeling he always got around medical rooms.
His memories were foggy, mind still unable to recall the details. He remembered completing the balancing beam with that impossible save, then making his way throug...

Hello,
Will make some minor changes to what has been released.
Nomenclature of military unit sizes change.
- Squad > Vora (10 troops)
- Battalion > Cavora (100 troops)
- Regiment > Dravora (1,000 troops)
So this change really just swaps out the terms I was using to designate unit sizes. Everything remains the same.
I will be editing the chapters and should be done with the changes by Friday, Aug 15 latest.
Reason: Started writing book 2 a...
