EARLY ACCESS - The Final Episode of Star Trek TAS | REACTION (ep22)

If I read things right, Enterprise received a second upgrade after the events of Where No Man Has Gone Before, explaining the changes made once the series began in earnest.

This is one of the few episodes (along with The Menagerie) to suggest the age of the Enterprise. Roddenberry had said he wanted the ship to have "some history." Eventually they settled on the Enterprise being 20 years old at the time of TOS. (Since I know you've already watched The Motion Picture, you know the ship got a major facelift right after this.)

I think it is certain that 'Wrath of Kahn' will be a very welcome return to top rank ST for you both. I hope you are going to take a break before starting 'TNG' (after the TOS movies). You don't want to burn yourselves out on ST too quickly.

Check out this anime-style version of M'Ress and then let's all put together a Kickstarter to re-animate TAS in that style. (Only partially joking). https://www.furaffinity.net/view/43528611/

As to the language questions you had: They do have a McGuffin called a Universal Translator in their communicators (later to be shown to also be integrated into starship's intercoms). But there is also an English-equivelent universal language in the Federation used for commerce, diplomacy, etc. called Federation Standard.

Robert April was one of the original name possibilities for the captain for the show before the name Christopher Pike was chosen and before the name Pike was soon replaced by James Kirk. Gene Roddenberry previously used the name Robert April for a prison chaplain in two episodes of the TV show Have Gun – Will Travel. A photo of Gene Roddenberry was used at one point to represent Robert April. Some information says that Robert April chose Christopher Pike as his first officer. However, it looks like they completely changed the character of Robert April for the various more recent Star Trek TV series. I think the book The Making of Star Trek, sort of the first Star Trek reference book listed all of the names that they considered for Enterprise captains. I think Robert April was the first choice for the name of the captain, and his ship was to be named the Yorktown. I think one name might have been Archer which was used for a later series after Gene Roddenberry had passed away.

.those added facts are awesome.. I was thinking that you should hoist a drink at the end of each series but..by the time you get to the end of Next Gen you are going to be all old and grey in your beards, maybe babies runing around..no time for hoisting drinks..¯\_(ツ)_/¯ LLAP
